    In-n-Out are freakin' fantastic.

However, I think if they spread too far they might lose some of what makes them awesome. They're not a franchise - they're all owned by the company, so it would be tough to kind of keep your "rules" in place.

Definitely one of the things I look forward to when I go out west to visit people though.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

96th Street Steakburgers in Indianapolis is about as close to In-and-Out as I have had in the midwest... They are GOOOOD too.

I did not know that they were all company owned...interesting fact. You are probably correct in saying that would lose some of what makes them awesome if they over-extended themselves. Getting hungry now!

It will be happening this February. Flight and hotel are booked already. 3 nights at the Flamingo which is in a great place to get everywhere easily, plus the flight from Dayton was only $330 total.

Opportunities are there for US companies in China to sell their wares....i.e. GM's Buick is a big seller in China. However, I think the management of many US companies are too shortsighted and will eventually sell out their US resources (human resources and otherwise) to less inexpensive off-shore operations as soon as the opportunity arises to make a bigger profit. Loyalty to your employees? How much does that worth?
Exactly, if the discussion goes the right way, I see it more as an economic thread than a political thread. Loyalty to the employees has been long gone as this is not exactly feasable when dealing with a global economy. Automation is in fact one way if not the only way for America to deal with the fierce competition of global market. There is no way for any American countries to compete with wages for employees in countries like China our only way out is efficiency of dropping costs through the best technology possible.

    Cheers!

I was just there this weekend. Sometimes I make an excuse to have to go to Indy just to stop in there and grab a burger.

since we're on the topic - what is everyone's opinion of the really cool looking and affordable tube gear coming out of China for the last few years? Bad for the trade deficit, clearly, but is it good for the ears?

I loved the Chinese Radii 8 watt tube amp I have in the closet, so did many form members. Sounded great but it burnt up when it was powered up with no music was playing. Take that how you will. ;)

I bet they don't have the money! We borrowed the money and we spent it already. So, they don't have the money and we don't have the money.

We have debts on paper and they get daily Interests Rates on paper based on what's on the paper. At the end, all is on Paper (may be computers) and water is all it takes to wash up everything. What a pity we are in this state and scary to think about it though!

Jolida is excellent............but the price reflects that and they have a great US distribution network. I was more or less talking about budget oriented Chinese gear that has either no US distribution or very limited US distribution. Any gear is good if you have a support network to take care of issues should they arise.

In-And-Out that would be great over here in DFW.

I'll be right behind you in line when they do. Also, add a Del Taco, not that we're short on Mexican fast food around here. I just prefer it to Taco Bell.

Great fries and a lot of them. Greasy burgers and a heart attack waiting to happen.

There is a mystical place in the suburbs of MD via the MH that has the ultimate burger. If you have had it? you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't? Your loss.

There aren't any around here. Cincinnati could use a good, solid burger or hotdog joint. We have Cincinnati-chili on every corner (which is weird the first time you have it, but strangely addicting) but if you want a good burger, you have to go to some stuffy upper-middle-class environment and pay out the nose for it... Which I don't do.
