No kidding??? My statement was based uopn scientific studies based on bees body weight , aerodynamic shape and size of wings by scientific criteria for flight says not possible but as we all know science isn't always correct and nature is. Same scenario with learjest. Baseed on common know criteria for flight at that time period mathmatically and theoretically, and comon knolodge of criteria for flight all equated up to this would be a very unstable plane to navagate. " Google it " Learjet was founded by Gates tire and rubber Co. ( a division of ) But yet it is the most sought after highly reliable biz. jet to date. Just because numbers and formulas say you can't doesn't always work out to be the truth or reality.

Yup, RT1. You nailed it.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

I agree. ADD 15.mg. time release morphine WITH it makes it even better but not pain free. barely tolerable. It was tore up bad enough they had to put anchors in it. If I dont move shoulder for 2 weeks , 12 week down time. If I screw it up will be longer and possible re-surgery.
-
Yes it does and add 15 mgs of time released morphine and still not pain free. If I don't move my shoulder in two weeks it will be 12 weeks recovery time minimum. IF I screw it up possible re surgery and more down time. I have to wear a pain in the **** medical baggy on my shoulder that circulates ice water around my shoulder 24/7. Where is the ALFAC duck when you need him. LOL

Dear jm1
You strike me as a very intelligent knowledgeable person. I am a authorized Polk Audio dealer and Polk was well aware that I was running the A9's. Polk stated that these would be a great sub to go with the A9's. They were very adamant
these were a good choice. Now you are telling me that they were a bad choice. I am little more prone to believe what you are telling me over Polk but don't know why Polk would suggests these as being a good match being I'm not Joe Blow and an authorized dealer for them. I can see no reason why Polk would want to jerk over one of their suppliers. Seems counter productive miss informing your representatives. It would not bode well for sales with other customers if they can not give proper information to their dealers. I am more prone to believe what you are telling me than Polk. Is it possible on your end that you are in error on the db rating and Hz.
Thank you for your time and for all your generous input.
My wife is typing for me, best regards

Krazyz1,
Regardless of being a CERTIFIED VELODYNE SUB PRO or an authorized Polk Audio dealer, I keep getting the impression from your responses you do not fully comprehend the underlying nature of the information or advice offered by the thread contributors. This is MY interpretation of this thread. I am not trying to be mean or condescending but, along with others, trying to help with your system configuration.
The specifications I mentioned are published on the Polk website.
I am still unclear on why you want to use two sets of speakers for the L+R channels. I am guessing, but do you need two sets of speakers to play music as loud as you like to listen? And with the graphic I can change placement.
I noticed this specific comment in one of your posts. The graphic equalizer shouldnt change placement within the soundstage. It should only change the sonic characteristics.
One set of speakers properly configured will provide a seamless well integrated soundstage. Having more than one set introduces issues previously mentioned in this thread. I would only use one of the two pairs which gives you the best soundstage for now. Once you have recovered, you can remove the other pair and optimize the speaker positioning.
I would only use subs in either of two configurations. If forum members have used subs in another configuration, hopefully they will provide configuration details and results.
1) Use an active crossover between speakers and sub(s) as previously described in this thread.
2) Use sub(s) to augment the full range speakers. The sub(s) produce the octaves below the lower -3dB limit of the L+R speakers. The sub crossover frequency is brought up to the lower limit of the speakers to integrate the two.
Anyways, your system implementation is wholly up to you. Hopefully you can get it configured so you are happy with it.

Mr. jm1. You are correct. Subs being used to augment the A9's.Very high probability will just stay using 2 A9's. The center ones that are producing a whole room full of non-directional music. When I heal enough will move outer set of A9's to different location in the house.Probably used a poor choice of words when I said placement refering to graphic EQ.The M-400's not quite powerfull enough for my taste of loudness. A recomendation for a 300-400 wpcrms amp that wont send me to the poor house would be appreciative. Your ability to stress your points without being condeming is a nice change of pace. Shoulder progress is going to be slow. Tore-up alot worse than MRI indicated.. I will be down 8-12 weeks. They even had to put anchors in my shoulder to have a place to secure things. Not good , and thank you for the speedy recovery...Thank you and others for the in put and guidance. I am probably KING of bull headededness. I made it work once before. Maybe just a fluke. The REALITY of it all is slowly sinking in. Best Regards Krazy

As you are receptive to suggestions in this thread, I would like to direct you to a Harman International White Paper titled Subwoofers: Optimum Number and Locations. Please click on the White Papers link to find the document.
Based on your current equipment, I would suggest (once you are recovered) to try relocating the subs from between the L+R speakers to mid side walls of the room if possible. It will also be important to keep the subs from producing frequencies which might highlight their location. I would suggest having the crossover limit the output to 60 80Hz, but no more than 80Hz. You will need to adjust the gain and phase for this installation location. It would be interesting to hear of your results of this experiment. The center ones that are producing a whole room full of non-directional music.
This doesnt seem right unless you are misusing the term. You should be able to locate instruments at general locations within the soundstage. Singer center, guitar(s) L or R within the soundstage, a crash cymbal L or R at a specific point, sax just off center etc. Non-directional music all the time is usually a result of having the speakers wired out of phase. Please verify the amp/speakers are (+) to (+) and () to (). There have also been rare instances where manufactured cables have had mislabelled polarities.
Others will need to suggest high powered amps at a reasonable price. Hopefully you will get some suggestions in this thread or by creating another thread soliciting specific models.
Soft tissue injuries just suck. It took me four and a half years to recover from soft tissues injuries when I was hit by a car while riding my road bike.

Am I the only one who thinks Krazy1 might be pulling our collective leg?

Since you have two M-400s, you have several options.
Mono Hookup
The M-400 can be used as an immensely powerful single channel amplifier without use of any special bridging adaptor. Again refer to the back panel illustration. You will need to feed both input jacks with identical signals from a Y connector. The speaker leads must be connected to the two outer terminals ONLY. The two inner terminals are left unconnected. The + wire goes to the red (non-inverting), the wire to the black (inverting).
The resulting output power is 500 watts RMS into 8 ohms.

You can also bi-amp the speakers vertically or horizontally.

I can put in proper test cd. I wil have to re-read. I don't remember if it's white or pink noise I need to use with my PHONIC PAA6 RTA to do a polarity test .I am aware of mono blocking M-400's. In current condition would be easier to hook crown up for more power.Any 1 who thinks I am pulling theyre leg , would be more than happy to send photos of CURRENT audio set up or the tubes hanging out of my body. If you truly feel I'm pulling your leg , don't take time out to reply. That statement kinda strikes me wrong in current medical condition.
