Best coffee you have ever had

Since I was so lucky to have won a great Karma put on by NotaSuv I thought I would start a thread regarding coffee and perhaps get some ideas on new coffees to try out.
What is the best coffee you have ever tasted and what qualties did it have to make it so enjoyable? Also what was the worst coffee you ever drank?
The best for me was a peruvian organic by Gevalia full bodied rich coffee with a sweet aftertaste. The worst was a celbes kalossi by a local roaster incredibly bitter and acidic
And Thanks John my mouth is watering thinking about the new arrival

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all

I spent most of my life in Seattle, so I've had a lot of really good coffee that wasn't Starbucks. One of my favorites is Terrefazone Italia, it's just a smooth cup with lots of flavor.
My least favorite is anything out of a can, or an instant out of a jar.My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself. -
The coffee maker will make a terrifying difference. For example, good coffee in a bad espresso maker, with the wrong technique, will still taste pretty much like cr@p (and not really any better than bad coffee made under the same circumstances IMO).
Comparing espresso coffee with filter coffee or French press coffee is like comparing a boom box and a carefully constructed HT IMO. Since so few people use espresso machines, I'll assume this discussion is about filter coffee, so I don't consider myself a competent judge in this case, but I just thought I'd feed the topic a little bit, and stir up the pot, so to speak!Alea jacta est! -
Dunkin' DonutsI like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

Budweiser

Jamican Blue Mountain,, I think that the worst was some kinda pecan flavored coffee crap.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)
-
Budweiser
P.S. Actually, try putting it through your coffee maker: who knows? It might actually improve it. It could hardly make it worse! ... :eek:Alea jacta est! -
I know this will sound weird but this is the best coffee I have ever had. I did not know at the time it was from the kopi luwak. Kinda like a food that tastes really good till you find out what it is. And no it did not even have a hint of **** flavor, lol.

Greek coffee at a very nice authentic Greek cafe (it happened to be in Tasmania, but I'm sure similar quality can be found elsewhere).
Greek coffee is a bit intense, so not sure if that counts. My Iron Man training/charity blog.

You disappoint me, NJ. I thought you knew that Bud tasted so bad, not because it was yesterday's cold coffee, but because it wasn't really beer ...

Laughing here for sure. Some mornings I'd rather have a Budweiser in the AM than a coffee -

French press and a Delonghi pump espresso machine at Cas de Rat.My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself. -
Gevalia is pretty impressive coffee. I used to belong to the club and I may start again. I use whole bean and grind my own for my Bodum French Press coffee maker. Great, fresh beans and the French Press syle equals great coffee everytime."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. I forgot to say, coffee really is for girls. What is it with everyone!!!!! Oh I am too tired and have my head up my **** till I have a cup of coffee, come on!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best coffee I've had, was Elkins brand, which we discovered at a place called 'The Steak Place', in Chestnut Hill, Newton MA.
This was 25 years ago, so I doubt that place is still there!
But I still remeber it.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
Difficult to choose between Brazilian and Colombian (not what is sold here in the U.S. as Colombian...)._________________________________________________

Since someone mentioned the process is important.....the best coffee machines are from Italy. The best italian is the Gaggia. No discussion possible._________________________________________________

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys. Jamican Blue Mountain is high up on my list of coffees to try and it is certainly considered to be one of the best there is. kopi luwak I would give a shot if I could buy a cup of it not sure I want to spend what it costs to buy a pound only to find out it wasnt as good as something else. I will put Terrefazone Italia on my list of coffees to try. And yes some of the Colombian coffees are wonderful a real delight to drink.

Any coffee from Cuba is amazing.

Eight O' clock coffee, French Vanilla. This is the coffee for me. No other flavors, no other brands. DD and SB's coffee makes me want to puke. All of them.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

I usually order 5 pounds of North Pole Coffee, 'Black Gold' from Snow's town of Fairbanks, AK. Gotta support the locals and their efforts.
Enjoyed several good pours at 'Sir Wifred's' in Maui, and some damn fine cigars as well.

Worst cup of coffee was the one I would sit through in a strange kitchen trying to be a nice guy and not running when I saw what I woke up next to.
jk:D
I think I am addicted to coffee as there is no worst......just some are better than others. -
Worse coffee I ever had was that crap they brewed up when I was in the Army. We used to refer to it as "Lifer Juice." It was blended with chicory and just plain nasty.
I think Yuban is a good cup of everyday coffee.

Nothing like 100% Kona coffee.
DING! Best cup I ever had was on Oahu in what passes for a diner in Hawaii. Right on the main stretch in to Waikiki, just before you'd have to make a right to get to the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Had a beautiful Hawaiian waitress who was nice as pie and easy on the eyes with never ending pots of the stuff! We sat there for 3 hours just talking about nothing and killing pot after pot of that 100% Kona dark roast. It was a bit more expensive than the regular Columbian swill but there is just nothing like it. No African, Central American, Asian or South American style comes anywhere close to the mellow and smooth flavor. It's heaven in a cup!I believe the quality of the water makes a huge difference in taste also, if you are going to spend $10.00 or up past $100.00 for a pound of coffe why use tap water? It would be like putting ketchup on your Kobe steak IMHO.
Oh geez thats right Mike you live there, Hell you could become my new best friend
REGARDS SNOW
You don't need Mike, you can get your own. It's pretty expensive, about $30 a pound but that's 1/4th what places like Starbucks charge for their awful "blends". Comes right from the farms and roasters too. I highly recommend getting whole beans and grinding yourself.

If you want the strongest cup of coffee you've ever had in your life, pick up their peaberry in a dark roast.
As far as my favorite, Kona, hands down. But nothing beats coffee in a Jersey Diner. Most people from out of state think it's "awful" but it's brewed hot and fresh 24/7 and you can get yourself some eggs and bacon to go along with it any time of day. It's no worse than the Folgers or Maxwell House or any other of the major American brands and that's not necessarily a bad thing.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
