Yeah. I've seen a couple of real-life photos of the 12 plus. It does look just like the Ultra-just a tad smaller. Nice looking sub. -

Hey guys.... Thanks for the nice comments! It is nice to hear positive comments after putting so much work into building a system and a HT room with almost a year of effort going into it.
The SVS sounds fantastic. I don't know how I could expect more from a sub. I mainly use the system for HT movies (80%) and for listening to my iPod about 20% of the time. I have everything on my iPod in Apple Lossless format and it makes a big diff in how it sounds on my system. This weekend I have watched Dark Knight, U-571, Babalon AD, and Star Trek IV. The sub is just amazing. The support from SVS after the sell is also amazing. Those guys are on top of things.
I also added the rear surrounds this weekend too. They add a lot of depth to the surround field and I am happy with those as well. I have the FXiA6 side surrounds set to dipole, and the FXiA4 rear surrounds set to bipole and they seem to compliment each other very well. Unfortunately, not a lot of flicks out there recorded in 7.1. My Onkyo fills the gap by converting to Dolby EX and PLIIx. I was confused today when I watched Star Trek IV. The box said mastered in 7.1 True HD. However, my receiver indicated the signal was being split into 7 channels but was not being received in 7 channels. Maybe my PS3 cannot handle 7.1??? Oh no....now I need a Bluray player that will process 7.1! It never ends.
Thanks again. -
How do you like the A7's for music. Can't wait to get my new sub.
Also where did you find those tall surround stands? How tall are they?
Thanks -

I just got 36inch stands. Then I went to a local home/hobby store and bought some 16X16X16 decorative boxes covered in fake leather, you know the kind your wife sits in the corner and puts crap on. Then I just sat the stands on top of the boxes. That brought them up to 52inches, or just slightly above ear level when seated.
I think the A7's are great for music. I listen a wide variety of tunes.... classic rock, acoustical jazz, classical, etc. To really show off the capabilities of the system, I usually play Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue or Philippe Saisse's Back into FX, Moanin, or Riviera. On the rock side, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Seger, Santana and The Stones will all do the trick but Pink Floyd shows the system best. If you really want to hear your system perform though, check out Philippe Saisse. Incredible mix of highs and lows. I think putting a good sub with the A7's makes a really great sound.
Good luck! -
I mis spoke on the speaker stand height. The stands are 24 inches and sit on top of the 16inch boxes. The top of the speaker is about 52inches from the floor.

I've watched several movies in 7.1 on my ps3. Rambo, Hellboy 2 I think it's 7.1. and a few others, and they all worked just fine. The ps3 said the right signal(pcm 7.1, dolby true hd 7.1 or dts master audio 7.1) and my receiver recognized it as 7.1. Some ps3 games are even in 7.1. After a little experimenting tonight....On my PS3, I have to set the audio to LPCM to get actual 7.1. If I leave it on bitstream, then the receiver knows I have 7 channels and even though it is not getting the data from the PS3 for all 7, it does it's thing by splitting it into 7 channels using PLIIx or Dolby EX. If I set the PS3 to LPCM, the receiver just says Multich and all 7 of the little channel indicators light up to indicate they are receiving an actual signal from the source. Here is what I don't like about having to use LPCM.... the volume drops off and has to be turned up, and I don't think the sub seems to put out the power like it does on bitstream....but that might be my imagination. -
Only the ps3 slim has the additional option of bitstreaming lossless audio to a receiver for decoding. All other ps3s decode lossless (TrueHD and DTS-HD MA) internally and send it out as LPCM over hdmi. You do not have the option to bitstream lossless with these older ps3s. So you are bitstreaming one of the lossy codecs if you can still play audio via bitstream.
You also appear to have a receiver that doesn't automatically add the +10db boost to the LPCM LFE (.5 subwoofer channel is purposely recorded -10db to prevent overloading the connections between the player and AVR). This is a known issue with certain AVRs processing PCM signals. If your system is properly calibrated, you should only have to boost the LFE channel +10db manually to bring it up to the same levels as bitstreamed lossless decoded in the AVR. There is a difference between your AVR 'matrixing' in the rear channels from a 5.1 feed and playing all 7 discreet channels with information specifically recorded for each channel via multichannel LPCM. It's well worth it to use LPCM with the ps3 getting discreet lossless audio vs. lossy inferior tracks (regular dolby or dts) via bitstreaming. Just boost the LFE level by +10db in your set-up options etc. and you should be set. -
Looks very comfortable.
I see you pursue the whitetail, where are you chasing them at?
