It is similar but not the same thing. What is different with a single run is that when the bass is drawing a lot of current there is a reasonable voltage drop across the wire and the treble rides on this waveform. Although the treble frequencies do not see this same voltage drop the phase varies according to the amplitude of the bass peaks it is riding on. You could argue that the voltage drop is only half what it would have been and the phase difference would be half. Its still quite different though since the treble only takes 1/10th the power of the bass and would see almost no phase difference at all when wired seperately. Of course how noticeable it is depends on everything, as does everything else in audio.

I use Belden cable from BJC. It's not bad for the money. That being said, I got another friend on this forum who's crazy for this hobby. His cables makes a difference in even my modest system.
