Muthafu--er!!! I am really pissed off. My jeep got repossessed. No i was not behind my payment but i just was told that my jeep can not be out of the state which i just moved to florida. I had spent lot lots of money on that damn thing since i bought it for my wife. Now the dealer wants me to pay upfront balance of 4,500 dollars within 30 days or hes selling it for same price as he sold to me... Also they took everything what was in my jeep and is bringing it to PA right now in some tow truck. Guy was **** on the phone said that i can buy baby car seat at yardsale for 20 bucks when i paid 200 dollars for that seat. Said i would have to go to pa and pay for the car and get my stuff........ They repoed it at the store where my wife and my baby was at. they were waiting because they couldnt get pass gate in my home area. There was no notice or whatsoever that we would know about it. We just paid this month bill before we moved..
On the phone he also said that i cant take a vacation using my jeep anywhere out of PA.. is he fu--king kidding me???

I m gonna read the contract and its ****... What should i do? I told her that we are getting a lawyer..
I am 100% BORN DEAF and No I am not kidding! :D Why am I here? My wife's hearing! :p

I don't know where you bought that jeep but I don't wanna shop there. Since when is it forbidden to travel in a vehicle you're paying on. That's sucks bad, and yes get a lawyer.

The laws vary from state to state, but in NY, they're not allowed to sell or discard of your personal possessions that were left in the vehicle.

How did they know you moved? You didn't receive any warnings beforehand? Something doesn't add up here.

    Caligula,

Sounds like B.S. to me! When you say your jeep do you mean a "lease" because there wouldn't be any other way of 'preventing' a buyer from driving his car to another state! I used to have insurance and bought a car in Pa. before I came up to Maine. I still owed about 4 grand on it....but I drove it up here for 2 or 3 years before I decided to stay in Maine (Kept my Pa. License, insurance and registration and inspection during that time). So I was out of state for a lot longer than you were! But this wasn't a lease. That's why I'm wondering, that sounds pretty 'nutty' to me....and completely outrageous that they didn't give you notice or let you get your personals out of the vehicle!!

    Yeah a Lawyer for sure.

I don't understand,,, why were you not allowed to take it out of state? And,, how did they find it,,lojack,or some tracking device?

From Flodida, back to Pennsylvania,, folks must be serious, and pretty damn good to track it,,I still do not understand why though. Good luck,, that is a bummer.

I dont understand why i cant use my jeep anywhere out of state??? yes the bank still own it, but i bought it and paying for it. I traded my car and paid few thousand dollars as deposit 8 mos ago. It doesnt make any sense...

Chevrolet place in warminster. the guy i bought from is no longer working there and he was fired apparently few days ago...
yes i think they tracked it via lojack or gps. Its not a lease.. The owner personally ordered repo...Guy was not cooperating with my wife on the phone. we both moved here because my plant was closing and has job open in tampa. My wife lost her job thats why we moved here to save our necks.. now we lose our jeep, its my only way to go to work.. this is **** ****.. because if i stayed in pa, we would lose our home, our life and jeep as well.. so there would be no win win situation in my case right now... this is BS!!!

sorry for bad laguage im really pissed off

If you took out a loan with the bank, the dealer gets paid by the bank and that's the end of the transaction from the dealer's point of view. Something doesn't add up here...

+1 Is there something about this purchase that you have overlooked? Typically, after you have signed the papers, and the deal is done,, the dealer could care less what you do with the car.

When you buy a vehicle its yours, titled and registered in your name and is put up for collateral if you bail on the loan. The ONLY way they can legally repossess it if you were late on payments or your insurance did not meet the requirements of the loan agreement. Cant move out of state or even take it out of state? what kind of crap is that? Never heard of such BS. And NO they cannot keep anything that was inside the vehicle that was not bolted down or hard wired in. Report all your belongings inside the car as stoled, and also get a lawyer.

Some banks have clauses in the purchase agreement where they can demand that a vehicle not leave the state for the purpose of permanent relocation. Some will allow it with written permission, and others need no form of notification at all. Chances are the lender has no representation in Florida and excercised their option to reposess. Banks can deem moving a vehicle out of state as potential fraud, and with the economy in tatters, they are getting a bit jumpy.

Under no circumstance are they allowed to take your personal effects. I am not certain on this but I think there are Federal laws regarding that part. The bad news is that the only person allowed to recover personal items are typically the registered owner(s), and that may not be worth the flight to PA. If they do not give back your stuff I would sue them for theft of your property.

Best option at this point is to get a lawyer, and a new vehicle before the repo has a chance to hit your credit, as it surely will.

Were you financing it through the dealer? Sometimes they will do it just to sell something. Also if you do not clear this up it will go down as a repo on your credit.

my wife actually did the whole buying thing because it was for her... i just willing to trade my mustang and my money as deposit. i paid 6000 dollars deposit plus my mustang value.

You know to be honest, the only tihng I can think of CaligulaPolk (which is what happened to my ducati monster) is I lived in California, and I purchased a Ducati out in Arizona with very very low miles, well I brought it over with me and was going to do the title x-fer in a Ca. dmv, they said I couldn't blah blah that it had to have a certain amount of miles because it was considered "new" and it would've been illegal for me to have driven it in Ca. They said I was lucky I wasn't driving around and didn't get pulled over or something because they would've taken my bike away. Probably not what happened in your case but that's all I can think of....

can you designate a "proxy" that will represent you in Pennsylvania ?

    I do not know.

If possible then it may alleviate some travel pressures that would otherwise be required.
