    Customer Review
"Matt (bigaudiofanatic) recently did a big install in my Mazda 6 and I couldn't be happier with the results. I first pm'd Matt for advice on what to get and he had plenty of good suggestions and answered every question I had. Seeing all of the positive feedback he has for his installs I decided to go to him for the install as well. I got a kenwood head unit with bluetooth and a metra steering wheel adapter, polk db 6.5 components for the front, polk db 5x7 components for the rear, a cadence amp for the speakers, a bazooka tube sub, a profile amp for the sub. Matt knocked all of this out in a single day, but by no means did he rush. He ran new wires, modified the stock tweeter mountings so the new tweeters would fit, used dynamat to fill in the gaps in the speaker mountings, soldered ever wire and used heat shrink...the list of little extra touches goes on. He treats your car like its his own, and he really takes his time and does clean work. I bombarded him with questions during the install and he happily answered all of them. He even taught me how to solder. If you want a thorough, clean, professional install for an incredibly reasonable price take all of your questions and your car to Matt. You will NOT be disappointed."

Not a lot, but that is a easy thing to do. Fuse block placement is a bit more difficult sometimes. Picks of under your bonnet?

I would of just taken the but off put it under it and put the bold back on, than used a dremel to clean the cover up so it would fit right.

He's saying...leave it like you have it. Just where the power wire is, dremel out the part of the red plastic cover where to allow it to snap down and lead the wire through.

Or get an Optima with side and top posts and use the side posts for audio :)

^^^^ oh, if that's the case then no thanx :)
I'm trying to make it look nice and clean, not just patch it up.

In the matter of fact i actually have that same "set-up" right now just instead of dremeling out red cover i simply cut it up a bit.

Main problem is not red cover but the fact that battery's + terminal is connected to a bunch (5) stock fuses that are in that black square-looking thing. In order to avoid all those stock fuses/connectors u need to have your wires run DIRECTLY from the terminal which is impossible (if u want them to look real nice) since entire fuse/connector "square" is connected to the + terminal with a metal extention...

Kinda hard to explain exactly what i'm talking about (english isn't my first language) but i hope u know what i mean.
    SU1HMDA1MDUuanBn.jpg

Im gonna get custom made terminal to hold all my wires and have this extention piece that goes into stock black "square" built into it. Don't really see any other CLEAN way of doing it.

I guess I dont understand why you can use the existing bolt and go out instead of up...or use the bolt and nut that goes up/down and just go over the post and out.

    Or buy an optima :)

I finally got my dad to allow me to put new speakers in his element. He did not want a new head unit, "as of yet" but he did allow me to go ahead with new speakers. Tomorrow will probably do the fronts and install the polk mm components. This element does have the higher output stereo which means the new speakers can get more power. Before you ask you can not do the same with your bose system.

    Let's get started.

Stock sub was a dual voice coil 4 ohm I went with a single voice coil kicker 4 ohm.

Aren't the 5250's good there? Could be a blending issue between the sub and the mids. Is your sub eating into your mid bass?

Some stuff that will help in incresing perception of mid bass punch.

    1. Cutting 3-5khz.
    2. Opening up 12khz.
    3. Pinching down a bit at 50hz, more at 80hz, while running 120hz a touch hotter. Opening up 125hz is so so for male vocals, but its great for the low notes from a piano, bass / acoustic guitar......
    4. TA : Getting the sub and mids working together is critical. Too much delay on your sub and its going to eat into your mid bass and mid range. Too little and the stage is going to collapse. Either ways, the first thing you will feel is a lack of mid bass growl.

Hope Mac steps in here to explain better.

How did that 6.5" Kicker sound? I'm debating throwing some small subs up front to bring some of the bass up there. The only two I've seen are the Kickers and JL w3's. I'd be looking for something to fill in the 50-200 range.

It sounds good, I would want more myself but it works for my father and his none bass needs lol.

Hey got a question for ya, I would love you to come look at it but I think that I am slightly outside of your 3 hour radius

I recently installed some polks in my 2006 Hyundai sonata (just used the factory deck for now and replaced the four door speakers because I had blown one). Used the db651s, really like the way thy sound for the money. After the installation, only one window (not the driver) will roll down (all electric). Did I blow the fuses or what? I ordered the kits form crutchfield so it came with wires to just plug and play so I didn't really mess with any connections. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated, and if your every in central TX let me know. I would love to install this dayton rs sub I have lying around.
    Thx,
    Paul

Did you need to disconnect the window switch when you removed the door panel to install the speakers? Check that the harness to the switch is plugged in correctly on the passenger side door.
