I just joined this site and the pictures put up are disagracefull! There is no need for that! All I know that in my lifetime(52 years) there was never a bigger, more popular, influential world wide album than "Thriller" . Yes that includes Elvis,Beatles ect..... It holds the Guiness record. In fact my son who now plays bass took up the instrument listening to the Jackson 5 and he and myself are not that big of fans.Have you guys watched tv and listen to all of the artists that were influenced! As for his charachter ,my dad would always tell me "If you have not walked in a man's shoes, judge him slowly" Who are we to judge!

NJPOLKER, It is not your picture I have the problem with as you may know. Judge him for his music, like it or not.I was not a huge fan of his music but he had the biggest selling album of all time whether you guys like it or not .
Sadly, there are some now in the media that are making it a racial thing.

So if your next door neighbor had little boys sleep over, you wouldn't have a problem with it?

Is the neighbor a single middle-aged man that talks like a five year old?

If the answer to the above question is yes, then child protective services should knock on your door and start asking questions.

He is a middle aged man. He also haves a son that is the age of my son. He does not sound like a 5 year old but he does talk funny. Says phrases like " Da Bears " and over der" when pointing to something.

We DO HAVE all the information... MJ has PUBLICLY stated every time he was asked that he LOVED sharing his bed with little boys:eek:

that is wrong on many different levels, but the image of a grown man doing this with children that are not his own is disturbing to most rational people. He said"It's not like that... it's innocent!" It may have been, and I pray that it was, but that does not in any way change the fact that it was both weird and just wrong.

Seems the same thing happened to OJ. He was never convicted of murder and we all know he was innocent. Of course there was that civil trial where he was deemed to be at fault...and all of his assets tied up. Just the sort of thing one might settle out of court to avoid.

OJ said that whole kidnapping thing was bogus...only that time he was caught with his pants down...so to speak.

The guy (MJ) was talented...but he was a freak show...and brought on any questions about his "character" on himself by the way he lived his life. Once you put youself out there as a public figure...all's fair...in life AND death.

    I respected his talent.

I had NO respect for the individual when he was alive...I haven't changed my view because he is dead.

What I do know is that MJ himself has admmitted to sleeping with little boys a practice he decribed as sweet, now did he molest these boys while they were sleeping with him? not sure, but I do know that if you put two playboy models in my bed the likelyhood is very high that neither one of them would make it through the night without being molested in every way I could dream up :D

I agree Snow. It was wrong . He put himself in that position and he should not have. But it seems that whenever someone dies the most that is mentioned is the bad stuff. Are we that negative? Who would settle out of court if they could have proved it,found him guilty and then sue him.

nobody is really being negative... more like being realistic. I suppose when OJ dies we should all remember him as one of the greatest running backs in history... God I wish I could do that, but he was also an unconvicted murder, and an armed robber. Just like I will only remember Joe Namath and those damn panty hose!

There are times that no matter what you have accomplished in life in a positive way you can do something so negative that it defines who you are and overshadows all else, I believe this is the case here. My thought's are the same as Shack's I feel no differently now than I did before.

As far as to why anyone would settle out of court it's called simple economics fight someone for years that has a virtually bottomless pocketbook or settle out of court get help for your child now and move on with your life.

I'm frankly surprised this thread hasn't been locked yet.. what gives? some threads get locked for a lot less than what's going on here right now.

maybe the web dude is on vacation or something.

hey people i'm only going to say this one time.

get over the whole MJ molested little boys thing you are all so fascinated over and move on. It's similar to the whole abortion argument... no one ever wins the debate.

Once again.. lock this thread, PLEASE!!

We're about the same age so you're a member of 'my' generation...just a bit younger and while I understand your reference to your son. Do you have ANY idea of just how many people picked up a guitar in OUR TIME (60s and 70s because of the groups you slight above...Album sales? So should we judge ALL ART by how much it SELLS...that's a rather uninformed view of what was path breaking and revolutionary. It seems to me that lots of artists often die in obscurity before they're even discovered.) The Beatles...name somebody that wasn't influenced by them--really, how can you be 52 and...! I have no stake in dissing M.J. over anything. But his music...it's just not there! Sorry.

And I agree, all the stuff flying around in this thread...is...well....

All I can say is when I first joined this forum (which was not to long ago) it was a wealth of knowledge. Now all it is, is a wealth of BS. More than half of the members who have a ton of audio info/experience rarely post anymore because of this type of crap. I for one miss the advanced technical info. this forum 'had' to offer. Just as I felt I was learning the ins and outs of this very intricate hobby the members that had the most to offer now just lay by the sideline watching the chaos unfold. I do realize this is the 'anything goes' section of CP but for the love of audio, please, please, please, grow up. Even the other sections are the same ol, same ol, nothing new.......Sorry for the rant as I have been drinking but it's the truth. Grow up you F'ING MORONS!!!!

Imo, I believe the admins/mods of the CP forums need to remember that in the posting rules that there is a part that states........9) Forum rules & guidelines are not up for debate. This is not a democracy, but rather a private forum owned by Polk Audio. Anyone openly debating the rules we have set in place will be removed. .

I am not debating the policies in any way, but the enforcement that was once here is long gone!!!!!! Quality and attention to detail is what set Polk apart from its competitors. Lately here on the forums it's a free for all and people get away with murder. Please restore dignity to this forum that was once here and that attracted and made this one of, if not the best audio forum on the internet. Rant over.
