Hello,

Is anyone familiar with JonBilt cables?
I just picked up two pairs of speaker cables from JonBilt cables
yesterday. One bi-wire pair and a full range pair. I replaced my
Monster M2.4:eek: with them. The cables are custom made for
what ever length you required. These cable blew away the Monster
M2.4 bi-wire.The JonBilt are very smooth and open with good bass!
Great built quailty for the price:D

Hmm, call me skeptical, but from an engineers perspective, I don't buy into the "specially treated cable market" and that large gauge wire works just as well, although I do agree that bare wires shouldn't touch components directly.

    OK. You are skeptical.

Gotta go with Mr. Daniel on this one.

Listening comparisons? Yes, I have, double blind in fact. The difference between 10 gauge wire and anything of equivalent size from Audioquest or Kimber Kable, it's the gauge that matters, I heard no difference between Kimber Monocle X's and 10 ga. ground wire for example, on my Quads, and measured very little difference using a multi meter and ocilliscope. The difference to be had is mostly from the difference of gauge, if you go from 16 ga. wire to 12 ga. or 14 ga. to 10 ga. there will be a vast improvement. Physics dictates that copper wire holds the same properties, regardless of cost. The following website is an article written by the guy who designed speakers for McIntosh and Sonotone.

Regardless of the link, you can't physically hear the difference, it isn't possible between cables of the same ga. There are things to consider such as shielding, but other things advertised such as super heating and cooling the cables to make them sound better is nonsense. I'm not knocking these particular cables but I think the concept of $300 speaker wire is ludicrous.

I happen to notice Ben, that you have a website on which you sell custom cables, so perhaps you have a personal stake in the market.

If you want to waste money on fancy cables (opinion) go ahead, personally, I'd rather use it and buy better speakers or a better amp.

I'm gonna have to differ,, as I just swapped a pair of signal cables sc's out for some MIT T-2's,, and their is a difference,, not necessarily better or worse,in this case, but different,, oh yeah.I'm not using any equipment other than my ears. After all,, is all about what we hear anyhow. YMMV.

Agreed, Their's even a Difference in sound between the same cables with
difference connectors i.e XLR and Rca. Most important is to find a cable
    sound that you like:)

The cables are breaking in nicely, with about 40hrs on them.
Very warm and 3D sounding-Lots of top air. Although these are
characteristics of my Linn speakers, the cables have increased these quailties:D

I have always had banana plugs at both ends of my speaker wire, is there an advantage to the spades on the speaker end, or is it just the angle it allows? Seems like Signal and others use the banana/spade combo a lot as well.

The other way around...the advantage goes to the 'nannas (especially locking). Easy on - easy off. Spades can give you trouble by working loose without you even knowing it.

True, but I like the spades on the amp end and bananas on the

I might have to look into the JonBilt cables for my L/C/R. I have some old Monster Z1 wires with their bananna ends, but it's about 8 years old. I purchased some Monster XPHP for my in-ceiling setup, but wasn't sure if that wire would be adequate for the Paradigm Studio 100 and CC690. I've had others recommend Signal, Liberty, and Audioquest, but the monster at cost is hard to pass up. The JonBuilt seem very reasonable.
