Serves the little jerk off right.
I used to smoke ALOT of weed. I mean ALOT. I don't anymore, but MOST of the folks that I grew up with that regularly do (ie every day) are stuck still in their little delusional little worlds.
It's not legal other than medically. And unless you have a true medical need, it shouldn't be. Cut the f#ckin righteous melodrama ****, it ain't going to be legalized.
And don't hand out the song and dance about how natural it is. I've heard it and sang it myself...
He wants to stand up? Deal with the consequences, which in this case won't amount to ****. Pre-trial intervention, six months probation, and expungement after probation. They should hit him with the possesion within 1000 feet, like the law in New Jersey. Smarmy little **** would get a minimum five years. Stand up for that...
Wow! I see a new high school club here: "Future inmates of America". It'l be huge!"The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it." Neil deGrasse Tyson. -
Oh and if your child is one of the kids this individual coerces into drug use, which is what it is, we should look the other way, huh?
Sorry, but you jerkoffs need to deal with a little misguided youth, like I am with my own child. Don't hand me your driveling ****.
Play the game, pay the piper. I had to, why not him? F#ck 'im... -
Well at least you come off as perfectly reasonable. If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
-
If my kid's that vulnerable with such low self worth that a friend might "coerce him into taking a drag off a bong" when he doesn't really want to, then I have much bigger things to worry about than marijuana use.

Bottom line is it is illegal, and if you don't fallow the rules your busted. I don't think weed itself is that bad in moderation, but I personally feel (know) it is a gateway to other bad things for most. Stay straight, and fly right. 5 years is a bit much, and he will never see it, but he needs to be punished for being stupid at least.

What were they going to do? Slap him on the **** and tell him not to do it again because it is illegal? He's 17 years old and most expectations that come with being a legal adult have kicked in.
In his amateur way, he made his statement doing something illegal. Probably wanting to do something really far out and cool in front of his classmates. Also, something tells me he did not thing things through.
He won't got to jail for five years. First, there is no evidence and THC in his system does not prove that he was smoking a joint when said crime occured. Even a poor lawyer will get him out of trouble. -
Any fool can make a rule, and every fool will mind it.
A man must consider what a rich realm he abdicates when he becomes a conformist.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.
The opposite of bravery is not cowardice but conformity.
Most people can't understand how others can blow their noses differently than they do.
Our wretched species is so made that those who walk on the well-trodden path always throw stones at those who are showing a new road.
We are discreet sheep; we wait to see how the drove is going, and then go with the drove.
Conform and be dull.
The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.
Roads are just a suggestion, like pants.

It was less about the issue, as it was about himself. Pot being legalized isn't something new in legistlature, wake up or turn the channel. I don't care. He broke the law in a public way, he obviously should be PUNISHED, but going all crazy and saying he should get the "maximum sentence" and get FIVE YEARS IN PRISON FOR SMOKING A JOINT is patently absurd. Do just enough to "teach him a lesson" without destroying his life, and hope it works. If it doesn't, next time will be worse. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
So what you guys are saying is if you believe in doing something illegal you should be able to get away with doing it in public to make a point:rolleyes:bobman1235 wrote: »He broke the law in a public way, he obviously should be PUNISHED, but going all crazy and saying he should get the "maximum sentence" and get FIVE YEARS IN PRISON FOR SMOKING A JOINT is patently absurd. Thank you.
The dumbass can get it dropped from his record after getting a suspended sentance(which he will get nothing but probation), and doing some lame classes.Please. +10 here Wizzy!!!!! He's a kid that appears to have been making a meaningful statement about laws, etc. On the other hand he is a near adult.................... -
This is a story about a spoiled 'trophy kid' who wanted to make people remember him.
NOTHING more.
The only punishment I would dole out, would be to BAN him from EVER receiving any public tuition assistance.
Maybe if he spends 4+ years SWEATING in the kitchen, washing dishes of the local restaurant, he'll have a better understanding of what a MAJORITY of people that emigrated to this country have gone through to just to LIVE HERE!I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -

This kid needs a significant punishment. certainly not multiple years in jail.....but a 30 dayer in a rough juvie joint should do.
this is certainly not because I want the kid to suffer....no no
it should be done for the kid, for a lesson must be learned here.
there is nothing wrong with speaking up and standing up for what you believe. I'm the last one to tell anyone to be a conformist for the sake of being a conformist, but we are responsible for how we put out the message.
case in point, I am vehemently against gangs. I have spoken in the past that I believe the gang route is just not a good one to take for any youth. I am NOT going to go to Compton to the main Crip house (whatever that is) walk in and say F&*K Yall, you all suck. why? becasue I'll get my @ss riddled with bullets.
speak you're mind, but be smart about it and except the responsibilities that come with it. Smoking weed in a school in front of class? a slap on the wrist would do an injustice to the kid. He's gotta learn these hard lessons now before something much worse happens to him.Living Room 2 Channel -

Support for marijuana legalization varies greatest by gender and age. Overall, younger Americans (aged 18 to 29) are essentially divided, with 47% saying marijuana should be legal and 50% saying it should not be. Support for legalization is much lower among adults aged 30 to 64 (35%) and those aged 65 and older (22%). Men (39%) are somewhat more likely than women (30%) to support the legalization of marijuana in the country.

This kid is a hero. People like this kid CHANGE things. If MLK didn't stand up for what he believed in, where would we be? What about Jesus Christ (if you believe in that)? Did I just compare a 17 year old stoner to Jesus Christ? You bet your **** I did.
Just when I begin to think all hope is lost, someone like this kid comes around to prove me wrong. If more people do not start taking a stand, we are going to be in a world of hurt. It is more important than ever to stand up for what we believe to be the right thing, whatever that might be.
This kid is not going to have to worry about a "criminal record." I doubt this kid would be happy in some BS white collar job anyway. He will probably end up being a core member of NORML or doing something else that MATTERS.
Thank you stoner kid. You took a stand. You made your point. The world saw. The world thought. You made a difference. You are my hero.
EDIT: This is my first post in the forums and I didn't sign up to post this. I signed up to post something related to my new Polk purchase and saw this thread. I felt this was much more important that a petty question about speakers. Now, I'll post my speaker question :-) I'm looking forward to being a part of the community! -

First off, welcome to the forum.....and IGNORE.
Secondly, I'm almost stunned that someone could put some SPOILED suburban stoner in the same category as the LEADER of the Civil Rights movement, and, what approx. 1 BILLION+ people on this planet consider the ACTUAL messiah(NOT the jerkoff you clowns elected, who THINKS he is)
I am neither an African American, nor a practicing Christian, but.....WOW!I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
I have to assume his post was tongue in cheek.
Also, obieone, did some rich person kill your entire family? So much vitriol over some 17-year old kid. What were you doing at 17, curing cancer? If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

Hi obieone,
Both MLK and Jesus Christ started somewhere. This kid is only 17 years old. He's off to one hell of a start if you ask me.
Is he in the same category as "the LEADER of the Civil Rights movement, and, what approx. 1 BILLION+ people on this planet consider the ACTUAL messiah"? I think he is. Both MLK and Jesus Christ were NON-CONFORMISTS, EXTREMISTS, and RADICALS. In fact, both MLK and J.C. challenged the ESTABLISHED LAWS AND NORMS no matter WHAT THE CONSEQUENCE. They simply did not care what society said or what society thought. What makes this kid different?
(and I could care less if this kid's parents are rich, or if he is "spoiled suburban kid"... eluding to these kinds of insults/facts/assumptions are mindless and do not make any valid point or add any substance to this discussion) -
You'll find that, generally speaking, people aren't allowed to have strong non-conformist opinion around here when it comes to such issues as this, without getting ostracized, criticized and put on ignore lists. It's a great place to talk audio, but really, this subject shouldn't even be allowed as it is too political in nature and will end up causing hate and turmoil.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. You truly are a champion of civil discourse. Please remind me to never have an opinion which strays however slightly from what you believe.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
