He wants to stand up? Deal with the consequences, which in this case won't amount to ****. Pre-trial intervention, six months probation, and expungement after probation. Bottom line is it is illegal, and if you don't fallow the rules your busted. I don't think weed itself is that bad in moderation, but I personally feel (know) it is a gateway to other bad things for most. Stay straight, and fly right. 5 years is a bit much, and he will never see it, but he needs to be punished for being stupid at least.

It was less about the issue, as it was about himself. Pot being legalized isn't something new in legistlature, wake up or turn the channel. I don't care. I'm more concerned with crackheads personally but your enviroment may vary.

This is a story about a spoiled 'trophy kid' who wanted to make people remember him.
NOTHING more.
The only punishment I would dole out, would be to BAN him from EVER receiving any public tuition assistance.
Maybe if he spends 4+ years SWEATING in the kitchen, washing dishes of the local restaurant, he'll have a better understanding of what a MAJORITY of people that emigrated to this country have gone through to just to LIVE HERE!

Just when I begin to think all hope is lost, someone like this kid comes around to prove me wrong. If more people do not start taking a stand, we are going to be in a world of hurt. It is more important than ever to stand up for what we believe to be the right thing, whatever that might be.

This kid is not going to have to worry about a "criminal record." I doubt this kid would be happy in some BS white collar job anyway. He will probably end up being a core member of NORML or doing something else that MATTERS.

They simply did not care what society said or what society thought. What makes this kid different?

You'll find that, generally speaking, people aren't allowed to have strong non-conformist opinion around here when it comes to such issues as this, without getting ostracized, criticized and put on ignore lists. It's a great place to talk audio, but really, this subject shouldn't even be allowed as it is too political in nature and will end up causing hate and turmoil.
