Hi all!

On my SDA SRS speakers, hooked up properly with the inteconnect cable, the left speaker, all 4 tweeters are not working. I replaced one of the 4 with a working tweeter and still no dice. Any suggestions? Is there a fuse inside, or a x-over issue? Thanks! Also, everything on the right speaker is working perfect. Thanks

Paul

i know it may be obvious, but would this make all 4 tweeters not work ;)

like i said though, all woofers work along with the radiator...

Just solder a piece of wire in between, to join the two ends of the broken run. Quick and dirty fix for now and until you go for the complete upgrade.:)

thanks Las!! I may do that... I have to see how much it will cost though! You have done it?

gdb, i may do that just until i get enough for the complete upgrade, good idea.

Sonic Craft Generation 1 http://www.soniccraft.com/sonicaps.htm

"Sonic Capacitors Generation 1”

Ask for Custom Matched & as close to 1% tolerance as possible:

Qty Rating

(6) 12uf (he was able to get the 1% tolerance for me)
(2) 0.25uf (he is going to have problems matching this and will probably get within 8% tolerance which is okay. On mine I bought Mundorfs for these two. they were much closer than the Sonicaps.

(2) 13.5uf (he could get 3% tolerance here for me)
(2) 27uf (2% tolerance for me on this one)

Mills Wirewound Resistors – non-inductive http://www.soniccraft.com/mills_resistors.htm <http://www.soniccraft.com/mills_resistors.htm>

All should be rated 12 watt

Qty Rating

(2) 2.7 Ώ
(2) 7.5 Ώ
(2) 11.5 Ώ (you may have to settle for 11 ohms here)
(2) 15 Ώ
(2) 22.5 Ώ (if you can only get 22 ohms that is okay)

To summarize, you will be ordering 12 capacitors & 10 resistors

Mention that you were sent to their site by the Polk Forum and maybe you'll get a little discount!

Those speakers are the 1.2's with the SL2000's. The easy give away is the smaller caps, and the 20/40 shunts on the lows.

SRS just means signature reference series. The original srs's had the Blade blade IC and were 4ohms. These are Pin Blade 6ohms.

BTW I have a pair of those XO's on my desk getting the 1.2TL upgrade;)

Is one better to have over the other??

thanks

But the cover plate looks like the srs version. Guess the plates could have been extras or just swaped out.

The 1.2, and 1.2TL use a simpler cancellation setup for the SDA part of the XO. The SRS used big caps to prevent canceling the lower bass frequencies where the 1.2's bled of the bass cancellation signal via a large inductor. If you have a Blade blade socket on that speaker it is setup like the pin blade socket. no difference but appearances there.
Ben

Edit: can you pull one of the outer and inner drivers, and see what models they are?
