The TL upgrade is very close in price to the stock upgrade.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

that creates an ear to ear smile again...
do you reccommend SL3000s? -
RDO 198's. You get them from Polk CS for $48 each shipped if you mention that you are a Club Polk member.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Well i just did the quick fix on that cap, and re connected the cap, and now the bottom two of the 4 are not working......any ideas?
-
Are they working on the other side? Some of the tweeters in the array are very muted. Also they are at different XO points. Some don't play as high as others...Please. i tried 3 different cds, the other side all 4 work, and the left side it seems the top two only work...
I took the bottom tweet out and literally held it by my ear for four different songs with not a sound emitted... -
Try swapping a good tweeter in there. You may have two dead tweets.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. oh sorry, forgot to mention, i did that with the sl2000s I had after I upgraded my SDA 1Cs....
-
That's odd. The way the XO board is losing the bottom two tweeters shouldn't happen. I just looked at the 1.2 board I have here and something isn't making sense. Maybe you have a blown resistor? Do you have an ohm meter? Hopefully F1nut has had experience with this problem.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. i can check the resistors...i will take it apart again and check it out..
-
do you know how the tweeters are controlled? Are there seperate outputs for each tweeter? After connecting that broken cap lead, then where does the signal go after that?
-
nevermind, i just found the scematic....
-
but how can they be 1.2s when the back serial pad says just SDA SRS??
You have a transitional pair. Polk often used up old bits and pieces including labels.Ok so the original SRS and SRS 1.2 are visually the same? Except for the blade blade over blade post which i have...
No, they are not the same. The construction of the end caps is different, the crossover plate is different and there is a slight difference in size and weight. The proper terminology is blade/blade or pin/blade.
To find the problem with the bottom 2 tweeters will require a careful check of the crossover components. Considering that the one cap connection was damaged somehow, I would look at all the soldered connections, especially the inductors.Political Correctness'.........defined

you know i just checked again, found another joint that was broken, it was a cap on top of a resistor, it seemed it may have fixed the 2nd from the bottom tweeter, but the bottom one is still not working, i thought I checked all the others before i put it back together, but maybe i missed something...back to it again....
-
If I remember the firing order correctly, the 3rd from the top is the main tweeter and the bottom one produces the least.Political Correctness'.........defined

on the SRS model.. not all the tweeters work at the same time.. so it may appear they are not working at certain volume and frequencies.
remove each one and test to see if it's good, or if your crossover is having problem. or something else could be unplugged.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

i checked over all the connections and they all are tight. I took an ohmmeter to the resistors and they all read close to their respective values except one is reading about .5 ohm. From the schematic I don't see any that read that low, the closest i believe is 4 ohms. I guess I can try replacing this one, or just go for a complete overhaul.
If you look at my original pics in the first page, it is the tall resistor next to the 4.4 cap.
From the schematic there is one resistor that is only associated with tweeter 2, I am just not sure if that would be the one on the bottom. I am not sure if that is even the right resistor, either way, it is not reading right so i guess it should be replaced... -
T1 is at the top, T4 is at the bottom. T2's resistor should be 22.5 ohm.Political Correctness'.........defined

hmmm, thats what i figured. I guess I will replace that resistor, see what happens...
-
I decided to just completly upgrade the x-overs...I will post a big smile when they are done!
-
Did you replace/upgrade the cross over?
