Video is much more complicated from my point of view. My head is still spinning from everything I learned and I have been in the business for over 9 years. But then again I have lusted after audio all my life, video was there so I could see a picture. Now I really care about video. Funny how that works.

Same here, was mainly involved with audio (and always kept knowledge upgrading trough the years), then telecom, then with my personal business involved in video also and with the rental business still learning, computers (laptops=>projectors), matrix switchers etc... I wouldn't mind going back to school again and go even deeper into audio and video, maybe engeneering degree, who knows I just like the learning so much even as a age (some I was afraid the interest and ability would kind of slow down with age)...

You have mentioned it is time to move away from CRT and I agree but it is sort of sad as I was getting quite knowledgeable with that technology and now the changes are such that I had to start not from scratch but let say maybe half way??

No not really. They are not supported in the Industry and very hard to find parts for now. I could do a fair calibration but I would not take it apart and adjust the CRT's.If it has the ability to do it electronically I would.

It's really time to move on from CRT.

I really would have to disagree. Have you ever seen a Sony G90 in action? A Barco Cine 9 Onyx? Or a Marquee 9500?

These three projectors are regarded by some as the reference standard to which ALL other projectors should be compared by.

Then there's the Sony KD-34XBR960...oh wait, I have one :)

    polkaudio 255c-RT Inwalls
    polkaudio DSWPro550WI
    polkaudio XRT12 XM Tuner
    polkaudio RM6750 5.1

Front projection, 2 channel, car audio... life is good!

While CRT technology was and could still be great it is passe and bound to disappear ratter quickly. That I know of, the quality of CRT PJ was also great however, calibration was tedious and you really needed great skills to achieve such. While modern technology doesn't have the long lasting quality of older technology such as CRT, it is really boothing CRT off the market. Face it, size, weight, nearly unlimited software and programming ability in a small throw away package! The constant and fast pace of new technology also outways the lack of longevity as most of us do have the craving for the latest new gear available anyway. Small throw away technolgy has made its way through and is more likely be there for a long long time due to our craving for the latest toys.

    Cheers :)
