Have you tried or asked the seller? If it is a new unit, it is under warranty by Jolida. (Warranty: 18 months parts and labor -From their web site). If it is not working properly they will fix it...if it is new and if it was purchased from an authorized dealer.

...and if not just sell it.

And BTW...from several reliable sources...the "street price" on the XA3ES was in the $350 range.

No the unit IS a Sony XA3ES...and street price was not $350.....on a good day! more like $500 at cheap!

The problem is...the Jolidia...has had time...to break in.(200 hours)...It is stock, brand new.
It is still more brittle then the Sony..too bright...

OK..I can MAYBE by that..cause of the China tubes......but still..it's tubes.

What i don't get is why this updated cd player..can't play CD's that the Sony can???????

Plus why I should pay for a CD player, that can't play this stuff????????

The Sony is not brittle at all..the Sony sound is in most cases better.....altho... it is not as much..maybe in you face as the Jolidia.

There is a difference between the two.....but...is it worth the money??????

Plus the stupid thing of why this New CD player..will not play the CD's?????

If you have a good answer for this be my guest....

Mate did you do any research before you purchased this?????????:confused:

Surely if it did'nt do some of the basic functions you want (play other formats) you would not even have considered it as an option for you to buy?

I would to be embarrassed:o:o to come on here and **** and mone about what i have bought, when it was my own fault for buying it.. What did someone hold a gun to your head and say "buy this cd player"

Sometimes you just have to be man enough to say " I f**ked up."

This will most likely be the only time in the history of my posting on any forum or in talking with audiophool friends in the past 3 decades that I would ever suggest that somebody look into this. Well, today......May 13th, 2009 I would like to suggest the following.......

Bobt, please look into Bose as I feel it is right up your alley. Oh my Gawd, I can't believe I just said that.

There is something obviously wrong with the player. Why don't you exchange it instead of ranting at the club members here who recommend highly this piece of gear.

Well im looking for someone other than myself to blame also. If all you idiots hadnt reccomended MIT speaker cables then I wouldndt have bought them and got my foot tangled up in one and tripped and fell this morning.

Its not my fault that I wasnt watching where I was going or that I had them in front of the speakers where I normally walk like a dumbass.

It wouldndt have happened if I hadnt bought them and I wouldndt have bought them if they werent approved by the masses here.

Two weeks and we still don't know

A: was this a new out of the box player or new to BOBT
B: IF it was skipping on multiple discs why he didn't immediately contact the seller

If new, waiting to burn in wouldn't make it read discs any better. Sound
wise, well it's known to sound good, but even better with a tube change.
If it took a drop kick injury during shipping, why would any CP member's
reviews of the JD100 be suspect? Shipping damage is shipping damage.
Go deal with the retailer, or warranty service. I did some Googling,
and I don't see any patterns of drive failures reported. And I doubt
you have any of the 25 year old cd's that I have that had trouble
with some CDPs. So send it in for repair already. Damn!

I feel for BOBT. He isn't the first, and wont be the last, to fall victim to outrageous expectations.

What I find interesting is that its my experience that its the SONY models that are never backwards compatible with previous media.

Yes, you people don't like my thoughts about cables..so be it.

I talked to Mike Allen directly about the Jolidia. i told him what was wrong.

The fact that the Jolidia skips on some songs, where the Sony XA3ES dose not. He told to me, responce was basically..good for the Sony. The Jolidia uses a different pick up system, then the Sony. There are NO adjustments...nothing he can do..if it skips on some songs try cleaning the CD. No reason to send it back, no adjustments can be made. According to him...as he should Know ..he owns the company....there are NO adjustments to the deck..no disk adjustments..nothing!!!

SO...you can take it for what it's worth.......

****. I just talked to them yesterday and they said that for 90 bucks for the first hour and 50 bucks thereafter, they will get the Jolida JD100 back up to perfect factory specifications. This also includes a 90 day factory warrantee.

Something not having adjustments is a lot different than something being broken. If it doesn't read a bunch of CD's it's broken, simple as that. Send it back and get it fixed. Is it under warranty?

I just talked to Mr. Micheal Allen himself and he says that there is no issue with getting your Jolida JD100 back up to snuff for the prices aforementioned. No issue at all. You bought used, you take that chance.....

My advice? send it to F1 and at a cost of $1500.00, you will have what we all have. Good luck and enjoy the Sony in the meantime Bob.

Bob, now tell the truth have you been using your CD's as little frisbee's???

I understand you perfectly well, which is actually quite scary.

Welcome to audio, if you knew the number of these fellows including myself who have threatened to turn some high priced piece into a boat anchor because of it's irratic quirks you would be stunned.

The Sony is a workhorse, you could toss it in the backseat upside down, pull it out and it will play just fine.

The Jolida is just not for you, life is too short, sell it and move on is my advice.

I am afraid its either that or the F1 super mod, just change the clock, the caps, the internal wiring, remove the digital outputs, new tubes and your off...........but you still cant use those old scratched up discs in it.
