FINALLY a new TV

so a little after 5 months and a lot of BS run around I am getting a new TV. so back in October 2008 I had ranted on this thread about my Tv giving me the red light of death and was OK with it based on the fact that I had an extended warranty through warrentech WORST COMPANY EVER to deal with( I could go on and on about them, lets just say they were hoping I would forget about my TV and move on) so it turns out the the light engine is toast and no longer available so Warrentech says "just have it rebuilt", kewl. Get the rebuild back and plugged in works for a few hours goes out again and takes the board, power supply and hard drive out with it, Warrentech " rebuild it again and replace what you can" at this point it's February WTF. Get all the stuff needed put back together up and running, BAM within a few hours no more light engine. Warrentech " rebuild it again. Now I'm Pissed and after quite a few heated phone calls and more BS. A phone call from one of the techs at warrentech "maybe you should call Mitsubishi, couldn't hurt". (at this point I question warrentech as to why I even have them if they just going to pawn off the responsibility, the TV is 4 years old it is the extended warranty Company's issue) So I call, turns out this is an issue and if the light engine is rebuilt twice and is a no go, Mitsubishi will replace the TV, problem solved within 2 weeks and 2 phone calls :)

So as of yesterday Mitsubishi is shipping me a WD-65835 to replace my old TV and it should be delivered to my house within 2 weeks. I won't have an extended warranty but considering it would have been through Warrentech again I'll take my chances.

Morel of the story I HAVE SEVERE issues with warrentech the company pushed by Ultimate Electronics AND I'm Getting a new TV

Pretty kewl stuff! Congratulations and enjoy the new TV. Our old 36" CRT is a Mitsubishi and it's treated us very well for more than ten years (I think it's actually from one of the Denver UE stores). Alas, we betrayed them, and bought a Samsung LCD last year.

Extended warranty companies seem to s*ck a lot. I could tell a few similar stories about First American home warranty, but that's another topic. They seem to exist to make you feel protected, in the hope that you'll never make a claim to test the feeling.

    Enjoy!

I really think those warranties aren't worth much. Most of these guys
are flying by the seat of their pants.
And modern TV"s don't have much of a track record for reliability.
The technology is new, and they are still learning what works long term.
It's kinda like the HT receivers were about 8 or 9 years ago. It's going
to be awhile before the technology settles in.

At least they didn't waste your time and effort with the delivery of a broken TV. Imagine the disappointment when you're all worked up to getting it installed and watching a favorite movie on the intended delivery day! If it were me, under those circumstances, I'd probably need grief counselling or therapy of some sort! This way it is a disappointment, but it could have been worse!

:( been there.......same type of deal...wife ordered a new TV they gave her the date and time........worse yet they actually tried to deliver it....you could hear the glass rattling as the guy wheeled it up our driveway....one look by me at him and he just turned around brought it back to the truck and had us fill out a damage goods report...new TV was delivered within 5 days in perfect shape.......enjoy it when it gets theres....always nice getting something brand new....

Hey ntculenuff. I had the same problem with my Mitsu 65 DLP. I went through 4. I then bougth an expensive Panamax conditioner thinking it was getting some kinna of electric spike. Still went out.

I'll never buy a Mitsu again. Ever.

I have a 67 Samsung and a 52 Samie and have had no problems whatsoever with them.

I honestly couldn't say that if I had to purchase a new TV right now, I wouldn't know what I would buy. Not an over whelming huge fan of lcd and plasma. I eventually want a front projection but at this point we're renting and I'm not going to waste my time with that. so getting a new replacement at no cost works out just fine for me :)

mits does not have anything on there sight for the 837 series but i googled it and found that it has isf advanced video calibration built in (more options to tweak it :)). couldn't find a whole lot on it since it's only may 1 and may was it's release date.

So, you start off with a faulty WD62825, and you get jumped ahead to the 65835, and now your jumping ahead another model year to the 65837?! Mitsubishi really seem to be treating you right. Nice c/s! Congratulations on another, even newer TV!

I would have no issues buying from a company that supports its customers in this way. Problems will happen with any brand ... including Polk Audio, for that matter. It's how they deal with them that makes all the difference IMO, and both Polk Audio and Mitsubishi seem to know how it should be done to make a bad situation (and a lost forever customer) turn into a good one (and a forever loyal customer).

All it takes is for them to drop it one more time...... ;)

I had a similar problem years ago with an NEC monitor. 8 months later they finally shipped me two larger monitors to replace the one that was defective.....

The power supply went out on my 4year old mitsey 52525 They fixed it under the extended warrenty works fine now. The repair guy said it won't last much longer as the old DLP's are all dying. Hope it's befor Nov. when the warrenty runs out. AVS forum says there dying like flys. Oh well want a new LCD anyway.
