I have to say that I’m usually not comfortable with the whole American “ they hate us for our freedom/whoo-rah” business. I’m not down with the Knee-jerk - Jerks like anyone associated with the last administration who ran this great country straight into the ground.
However, there are times that we can make a real difference by standing up to opportunists with swift justice. Deploying the Navy Seals in this situation to take swift action directly against the perpetrators without harming innocent victims of a region is commendable. These actions should almost always be transparent and out in the open rather than a whole bunch of classified missions carried out by our last lawless administration.

I’m down for protecting American lives, when they are really at risk. This was certainly a cut and dry case! Certainly we should assist in helping to facilitate political stability in the region in the most constructive ways possible. The “Pirates” have vowed revenge. I say that it would take but a couple of hit squads from countries that use this trade route to cruise this region and take out these criminals. Potential new pirate recruits may think twice it they think their heads may be blown off by a sniper. Certainly all of the millions of dollars that have been paid in ransoms over the past few years could have funded a patrol to do this.

Couldn't you have said the same thing without dragging the past adminstration through the mud with innuendo?
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

    No.
    Full Disclosure
I’m sorry, I thought I was clear. I didn’t care for the last administration. I have nothing to hide about that. We could get into the nitty-gritty of why I feel the way I do, but I guess I should continue to address these comments in other political forums. We seem to share similar perspectives regarding quality audio equipment but differ on politics. I can live with that as I’m sure you can. :D

He MIGHT NOT have mentioned the past administration, had several people not paved the way for him, by preceding him with slurs and innuendo about the CURRENT administration.

You can certainly disagree, I have no problem with that. But come on man, your really going to tell me to take my comments elsewhwere because you disagree? It wouldn’t matter if everyone disagreed with me on this forum. I’m going to treat you with respect and you are going to do the do the same. I guess we better not talk about anything but speakers if we ever met face to face.

Politics are against the rules and usually ruin threads, it's as simple as that. In person is a whole other world.

Hey, I just want to say that I’m pretty content just talking about Sound on this forum. I have really learned more about audio here in a few months than I have ever learned from some so-called expert in an electronics store. I have been able to build a great system thanks to many of the seasoned audiophiles on this forum. This remains one of my favorite places to learn with little vailed bias about audio. I am happy to continue to limit my participation to just that!

However, to think these geopolitical events/crises are absent of politics is absurd.
I have no problem talking to anyone about my politics which happen to cover the full specturm depending on the issue. Furthermore, I am an old school New Yoker, that enjoys nothing more that a spirited face to face debate based on facts and my unvield subjectivity.

I read and comment on many politcal blogs across the political spectum. I enjoy listening and respectfully disagreeing with others. I’m certainly not one of these folks that use this type of forum to “hide” and make comments or sell “wolf tickets.”
Perhaps we should all limit our political leanings to more appropriate forums because the bottom line is if you post something political, someone may reply and disagree. You have to be ready to handle it!
I will say in advance that I respect everyone of you who may reply and disagree with anything in this post.

I don't think anyone here can disagree that what happened in this case was the right thing to do! And that this sets the precedent for dealing with future scenarios--let's not think this stuff is 'over'.

Politics yeah! But it used to be that you couldn't talk about politics, sex or religion! That was so many..many years ago...for you youngsters!

Just cause you started that thread in good faith, doesn't mean other individuals shared your charity. Shack, point a finger at posts much earlier than mine if you want to see political discussion on this thread.. I never stated a position here, and you might be hard pressed to find me stating my political position on any of threads. What you will see, is me asking people to stop discussing politics.

In this particular case, after seeing the posts that the new individual read regarding the present administration, I can see how he felt comfortable entering what had already become a political discussion, albeit one-sided. He saw politics getting discussed and felt it was okay.

It's all in print right there in your thread.

Ted - just another reason pirates should stay in school and get an education. If you're going to attack a ship with any of the US southern states in the name, you might want to realize that for which you are about to open a can of!
