Stuff I Would Never Sell

The stuff you REALLY like, and could never part with.

Carver Amazing Platinum MK.IV
Acoustic Research Model 9
Acoustic Research Receiver
Acoustic Research Integrated Amplifier
Dynaco Quadaptor
Advent 300 Receiver
KLH 18 tuner
Acoustic Research Model 302
Acoustic Research Model 5
Acoustic Research Model 338
Apt Holman preamp
Onkyo M-5090 power amp
Tandberg TCD-310 cassette deck
KLH Model 6 (my first decent speakers)

There are other things I have that I like a lot, but I think the above would be very difficult to replace, therefore, a no sell policy. Things I have that would be fairly easy to replace (I don't mean money-wise, I mean availability) would probably include:

Carver C-19 preamp
Carver C-16 preamp
some kind of Sunfire preamp
Carver M4.0t power amp
Carver TFM-42 power amp
Carver M-500t (times 2) power amp
Carver TX-11a tuner

I can honestly say with the acquisition of the Advent 300 Receiver, I have owned just about every piece I've ever coveted. Sure, it would be nice to have some AR-6 and AR-7. It would be real nice to find a pair of AR-LST, and use them as rear speakers for the Model 9's. A more realistic approach to rear speakers would be to find another pair of 9's, or even the next tower down in the line, the AR-90. They would make fine rears.

    My:

AR-4x speakers - Nothing special, but they were my first REAL speakers.
New Advent Loudspeaker - Again nothing rare or whatever - I've just spent so many years with them I can't let them go.
Benjamin Miracord/Elac 50H Turntable - Nice, fully automatic German engineered TT.
Pioneer SX3700 Receiver - 45 watts of power and still going strong after 30 years.
Polk RT400 speakers - I almost stole them for what I paid and still one of the best speakers I own. One of those rare gems that sounds better than it should.
SDA 1Cs - They were owned by Doro and Hoosier21 before me. That alone makes them "special".

    I have lots of stuff that I could sell...but I don't.

Yeah, lot of vibes in those speaks.

I had a difficult time selling the New Advent Loudspeaker myself. They were absolutely cherry and had been in Stephie's bedroom for about 10 years. I got the AR-302 and they went in there.

I'm trying NOT to hold to anything I'm not using, but failing miserably.
My Senn Hd-650 headphones aren't going anywhere. The Hales
are going to be around a while, even if I move up. They really need
more power, but the ARC vt60 is also hard to leave behind. If it was
a vt100 or the Hales a little more efficient, I'd be set there. The small
room I've currently have the 2 channel in fortunately doesn't require as
much power as the bigger room did.

I've got a beautiful pair of the AR9LSi I'll never part with. I refoamed them and played them a year before I noticed foam edge surrounds coming out of the lower port and after researching I found another downfiring driver inside the cabinets. Talk about floored. They sounded fantastic with the inside woofer foams bad. Super fantastic since I refoamed the inner woofs. I've got them stored and they're not going anywhere. EVER! Not much audio gear I'll say that about.

And I lied in the first post. I would still like to find a Harman-Kardon Citation 11 & 12 pre/power combo. That's it. Maybe another AR table. Pair of 3a's.

Everyone tells me that mine are the LS because of the veneered walnut face but the tags say LSi with the matched ser#s.
I sent Larry Lagace (Vintage AR) pics and he'd never seen the LSi with the walnut finish either. They're a huge sounding ultra clear speaker. The depth of the bass in unreal when you want it.
No, mine are staying with me. I bought them, 2 Pairs of AR9, 2 pairs new in the box of AR3, one pair of AR3A nib, 3 used pairs or AR3a, and a pair of AR90's that ND13 ended up with and then Joe Humbert has best I know. I also got about 70 new in box drivers from AR to restore all of the speakers. I picked them all up from an estate sale in Indy from a Sony Authorized dealer/repair center that the owner died and they sold all his stuff off. The big AR are as nice as you want a speaker to sound.

    .

The babies. Revelation Ones. I watched them for a year in a pawn shop.
When the price got low enough, I bought. There was a loose solder joint
on one x-over, and both need new grill cloth. I've listened to a lot of
bookshelf speakers. The Hales keep up with most of them quite well.
The x-overs are all hand matched with better quality parts. The speakers
cabinets are double walled. They weigh more than my Rega R3
floorstanders. The only way they could be better is if they were
the two or threes. And those don't come up for sale very often.

The RCA console unit with radio and turntable from the 1950's that I listened to the good old time radio shows and albums on in my grandparents house. Most of the albums of the radio theater and shows are also in the cabinets on each side. It's in great shape, worked when I stored it 15 yrs ago, and brings back very good memories every time I look at it.

Hmmm..... Most likely I will never sell my SDA SRS 1.2 TL's not because there the best speakers in the world but there good enough that I have quit looking for better ones, and I know if I do sell them the chance of ever getting another pair where I live is almost non existent. If I happen to stumble upon something far superior for next to nothing then of course I would reconsider. Most of my music collection, even if some new format came out that was far superior it would be years before a significant amount of recordings were redone and some would never be.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
