Well this thread went down the crapper.... Thanks, be here all week.

Any update on the second call? At least your calls will probably prevent him from moving in next door.

Which brings up a thought. Did you call the people leasing the house next door and forwarn them what kind of jackhole this guy is?

What, you don't have a garbage fairy in your neighborhood, either?

I think we are dealing with a clash of cultures, and not just one separated by national borders, but subcultures within the US. Some folks just don't think there is anything wrong with pitching their garbage onto someone else. Maybe their parents didn't, either, and they were never taught differently.

Hell, it was only a few hundred years ago that Europeans poured their sewage onto the sidewalk and street from their second story windows. That seems insane to us now (which it is, from a policy perspective) but it was expected then.

I used to work at a mid-large civil firm back in Houston. They once had a real problem with one of their immigrated employees not flushing his tp, but tossing it into the stall corner. For some reason they couldn't get the guy (or guys - it may have been two of them) to flush it.

Well, apparently in many parts of the world, including Korea and many places south of the US, tp is put in a basket, because the sewer flow rates are so low that it would otherwise cause clogging.

Ugh, I've just grossed myself out.

I know the owner, and could tell her. But, frankly, even though the place looks quite modest, it's going to be way, way out of the range of someone working in the Luby's kitchen. We get a lot of people looking, and many just have no idea that houses close in town in this area are very expensive. Some even get downright indignant. One woman talked to my wife who was outside at the time, going on about some place out in the country with three times the square footage, etc, was renting for half as much. Anne gently explained that it was the location, but the woman just couldn't be brought to understand.

And maybe when jackasses speed through or litter in our neighborhood, they are thinking that this is just some low-rent area that nobody is proud of, because they see 50's built 1-story bungalows etc, and think that anyone of means lives in two or three story new houses, so it's ok to dump on us. I dunno. They have no idea that we approach and exceed $200/sqft here, and that we don't want anybody **** with our neighborhood.

The city marshalls are coming to pick up the "evidence" today. This bag of fast food garbage is getting around.

Here's a funny I forgot to mention: I looked in his SUV in the Luby's parking lot, and he had an iconic picture of El Savior covering his tachometer.

He should be forced to eat every meal at that fast food establishment for 2 years straight..... every meal ..... :D:D

^ That would constitute cruel and unusual punishment, in my opinion. I do think some community service along the rights of way is called for, for sure.

Just got a call from the marshall's office. They are now "taking it personally," considering the retaliatory nature of the offense. I'm almost feeling sorry for the guy now. Almost.

It's really great to see that the Marshalls are taking it quite seriously, instead of a "whatever, **** happens and there isn't much we can do about it" attitude. That would make me feel a whole lot better about having "invested" in the neighborhood already.

Oh ... and the dog thing: I have run out of bags too, once in a while, but I always, always go back for it as soon as I get home, even if it's raining or something like that.

I could easily understand if they told me that it would take some time because they were dealing with more urgent matters, but, I guess they aren't, and we are quite happy with the response. I think cops really appreciate people who keep their eyes open in their neighborhoods, and report criminal or suspicious activity.

I hope they are as active in the lower income neighborhoods, but it's usually more an uphill battle in those places.

If that "winner" is such a slob on the street, I'd be willing to bet that he doesn't wash his hands after toilet breaks or before handling food ! Any chance that his immigration status is dubious? Be nice if he had to go back to Juarez to do his littering !

HEHE, they came and got the bag of trash, and now are taking it downtown to be weighed! That's how they determine the fine, apparently!

I agree. I would NEVER eat there. I still say post the phone number for that Luby's so we can call and ask the manager why the pig still works there. Try calling a local radio station and see if they will prank call Luby's.

Just wanted to say, as a Korean wanting to inform the public, this doesn't happen everywhere. If you live in the capital city (which is about half the South Korean population) and it is a decent neighborhood, you don't see tps being thrown into the garbage cans too often (although, it does happen).

Similar to the bias that dog is some sort of normal diet for Koreans (I know not everyone thinks this, but you would be surprised at how many do think this way). At my guesstimate, only 10% of Koreans have TRIED dog meat and it is rare that, out of these, Koreans eat dog meat more than a couple times in their life. It's like octopus for certain populations in America. It's there and people eat them. Some people even love eating them. But it doesn't happen too often for most people.

Back to the topic of trash in other countries, many Asian countries are actually tons better about trash, but that is mostly because our penalties for littering tend to be more harsh and more enforced and also there is little space in Korea for people to live. So when you trash some place, even on the other side of the peninsula, it is not too unrealistic to say that you are trashing your own neighborhood. Basically, Korea has a stronger government in the sanitation sector than America. America is more of a "take care of your own shi7" place. In Korea, you also have to divvy up your wastes into liquid, food, metal, plastics, electronics, etc. or else...

Anyhow, just wanted to give a semi-rant. Lol. Not that I would like to live in Korea... I don't like it there at all. California is 100% better.
