Pot isn't for me, won't kill me fast enough. I drink like a fish, eat fast food daily, and smoke (for now, too much $$$), so I let the weed be. however:

I would be curious to find out how much MORE use pot would get after legalization. Sure it is illegal, but it is EVERYWHERE, and obvious. I can step out onto the patio (smoking area) at any bar in town and take a hit off an already lit joint if i really wanted to.

Legalizing pot won't make it any more/less accessible and won't cause more/less people to smoke it. Kids aren't going to be more prone to smoking if it is legalized than they already are now. Legalized, de-criminalized (already in Canada), controlled, or leave it be, doesn't really matter to me. I highly doubt anything will change either way.

That's an interesting point. It's use probably would go up some though...There are a lot of people that have jobs that require drug testing, and in the interest of keeping their jobs, a lot of people are forced to stop smoking pot. In lieu of that, most of these people end up becoming alcoholics. That logic doesn't make sense. Pot stays in your system for around 30 days as far as urine tests go. So I could lose my job because I smoked a joint 3 weeks ago, but it's perfectly ok for me to get completely hammered tonight, and then go into work the next day with a splitting hangover that's going to prevent me from performing my job safely?

Granted, if it were legalized, a lot of places would probably still require drug testing, but a lot of them wouldn't any more, so there probably would be an increase in the number of pot smokers. These likely wouldn't be "new users" though so to speak, as they would mostly be people that were already smokers before hand, but were forced to quit for their job.

As far as kids go, there wouldn't be any more smokers really. Pot is already very readily available to anyone that's looking for it. Kids don't have any trouble finding it. When I was a kid, I used to have trouble sometimes finding someone to buy me alcohol, but I could have called up any one of a number of people and gotten pot with no problem whatsoever.

Here's an interesting link to a video with some clips from CNN. They did a poll recently asking whether or not marijuana should be legalized. The results of the poll were overwhelming. 95% said yes.

Most places that do random drug testing would probably fire your a$$ the second you showed up hungover. Especially since the booze is probably still in your system. (I know a guy that got a DUI on his way to work the morning after boozing) :)

Although alcohol is legal, most places don't allow you to have any in your system while on the job.

The problem is, that most people can hide the fact that they have a hangover, and alcohol only stays in your system for a couple days, so most people don't really worry about it. The majority of the factories out there are full of people that are either hungover, or just drunk. Believe me, I've worked at several factories before, and there were numerous people sitting in their cars slamming down a few beers on their lunch breaks. Not exactly the safest thing in the world...

That's very true. That stuff really is addictive. I'm drinking a glass of it with some toast right now as a matter of fact.

It's only illegal if you get caught...lol...I've told cops before that I smoke pot. They can't do anything about it unless you actually are in possession of something.

There are more than a few cops that like to burn one from time to time. Not all cops are entirely against smoking pot.;) To a lot of them, it's just one of the laws that they unfortunately have to enforce due to their jobs. Not all cops will even arrest you for having pot. A lot of them will just take it and let you go, depending on how big of an amount it is.

So, to all of the law officers on board here. I smoke pot. You can come arrest me if you want, but you'll be meeting my lawyer shortly there after...lol

Sorry there, Guru, but actually that song is about a drawing one of the Beatles kids made at school. Don't remember which one, I think it was Lennon? But that myth has been around since the 70's, because that's WHEN I 1st heard it- in the 6th grade;)

I've known judges, police, teachers, doctors, lawyers and just about any group you could name that have smoked weed either occasionally or for 30 some years. Most all raised families, sent the kids to college and were productive members of society. The only ones I knew with real/family trouble often were the ones that drink booze or take pills.
