Sorry ........ We're also certified to treat tree's for diseases, and give them injections. .......

Curt I have to ask, how do you give a tree an injection? Is it like a food spike that is absorbed through the roots or an actual injection?

Myself up until 2 weeks ago I built tested and repaired automated surface mount circuit bd. assembly machines. For any interested these would pick up components and place them on the circuit. Components as small as .002" x .001" to within .001" (spec'd, usually more like .0005") accuracy to where they should be. Helped start up a manufacturing facility in China with training the locals. With my 15 years with the company this was probably the most challenging thing I did and most rewarding (I met my wife there):D.

I worked for years as a high steel Ironworker but a knee injury stopped that. Then for several years full time as a cable internet installer/ computer technician...I still do techy work on the side part time. Most recently I'm an outdoor vinyl flooring installer. Doesn't sound very glamorous but it pays better than anything else around. In my not so humble opinion I'm the best there is and my services demand a very good dollar. Only down side is winters off in Canada and this winter has bee long and brutal. Plus with the economy down I anticipate a slow start. None the less I'll be working again soon enough and probably bitching about not enough time off.

There are a number of ways to do it depending on the specific situation. Some treatments require you to drill a small hole at roughly a 45 degree angle into the cambium layer of the tree, about 2-3 inches in depending on the size of the tree itself. Then you have to strap this nutrient/treatment pack around the trunk and insert a feeder tube into the hole that you drilled. The pack get's strapped down, and is sometimes left there for over a month. It's on a gravity feed system with enough of the treatment to treat it for whatever length of time it needs. The fluids get absorbed by the cambium layer of the tree and are distributed to the rest of it.

The cambium layer is essentially a tree's version of veins and arteries. It's what moves starches, sugars and moisture from the ground into the crown, and moves the food produced by the leaves down into the rest of the tree. It's also what moves the treatments around the tree.

There are other treatments administered through nutrient spikes, like you mentioned, as well. Certain kinds are also just in the form of a fertilizer that gets distributed all around the root base, and about 15-20 feet around the base of the tree.
