Huge Chip in new tweeter received from Polk

Check out this chip in the finish of a RTi10 tweeter I just got in the mail from Polk.

Oddly enough it was wrapped amazingly well! I am really impressed with the packing job.

I almost always have the cover on the speakers, so I'm not going to complain or ask for a replacement ... I figure **** happens, and if no one will see it then no harm no foul.

I figure this must have happened before shipment, or during manufacture. Polk might want to give things a look at before shipping. I know Polks customer support is awesome and they would happily send a replacement, but it's no big deal.

Nah, I'm sure they'll see this. Besides, 98% of the time the cover is on the speakers.

Am sure its a moulding defect with a air bubble which has popped out a hole.
Polk CS would have taken care if need be.

I never understood why people like to air dirty laundry over a message board before giving the manufacturer a chance to make things right.

Oh, I am sure they would happily send a new one if I asked. I guess I just wasn't upset so I didn't really think it was complaining. Well, it's not. If I wanted to complain I would call Polk and ask for a replacement, but I'm perfectly happy with the chip.

Polk service is actually awesomely good!

I don't have a problem with it, I know polk and If he wanted another one, they would replace it. They always been exceptional at customer service , you know that.

I don't see any reason to hide anything. This is what this forum is for, to talk about our experiences good, bad , ugly or what have you.

    Yes!

You know, if this *wasn't* the case, I would probably be calling bitching and moaning :)

It just seems like a waste to make Polk take a hit on something that will be perfectly fine as is. My ears won't hear the chip, and you can't see it with the cover on the speakers.

Seems like it would be like crying over spilled milk.

I wouldn't call it a huge chip, but it is noticeable. You could try touching it up with one of those silver paint pens from a craft store.

As long as it is a world class, reference touch up pen, I agree with that suggestion.

Does the pen have to be Stereophile approved?

How's that a huge chip? I didn't even see it until I looked at the overly sized image.

Seriously, and who's Chip? What is he doing in your tweeter? Is that a typo? Did you mean Hugh Chip?
