I have not been able to edit any of my posts lately and am getting a bit upset that I can't. Maybe I can remove the following text with the edit:

FIX THE EDIT FUNCTION ON POSTS!

Edit: I can't edit anything on the sales area.

You can edit within 10 minutes I think and that won't be changing.....so good luck.

I'm sure that voicing your frustrations is awesome but get used to it. If you aren't sure of what your posting, why are you posting? Maybe some of you have ghost writers, who knows.

Coming from someone who loves to post classifieds with long descriptions, who adds pictures and makes subtle changes at later dates, I would think you would be more understanding.

But it's not just the classifieds that's a problem, how about for reviews, write ups, how to's, or cable lending programs? It makes things much more complex than it needs to be.

I haven't looked into it, but is it possible to disabling editing just for certain area such as "The Clubhouse"?

Can someone explain this non edit rule? The whole issue seems more childish then the act of editing. Who's winning here, two wrongs don't make it right.

The 20 minutes to edit rule has annoyed me on a few occasions, but I've just learned to deal with it. I just try to make sure I get everything right the first time around.

I definitely wouldn't argue if it got changed though.;)

You have to be Hardcore to edit.....Doro is hardcore.

You frustrated guys can try Viagra or Cialis or I can fix you up with Yence my new massage lady, a young swedish lass with fingers of gold and a body like...........

I kinda like the no edit...........you see when your hardcore you do not really need to edit, cuz you can stand on what you say, so that is why the hardcore can edit because they don't, edit that is.

    DJ,

In your case a special waiver may actually be in order, your Geek Speek status knows no bounds, I think DJ7 should get a special exemption to edit, of course given his past light **** film business and all that DJ you cannot be Hardcore, but maybe Softcore would be more appropriate..........

I don't have an issue (anymore) with the no edit rule. You have 20 minutes to make any corrections, seems like enough time.

This is a forum where people read and post on. Is it really that difficult to read through another post that has an update in it? Does anybody only ever read the first post in a thread?

I read through the posts in the order they are made. I'll click "view first unread" to take me right to that next message, How difficult would it be to follow a thread if people keep changing what they said earlier? You'd have to re-read an entire thread just to 'catch-up'.

I don't remember anything being said about it being temp or changing.

Besides, this thread is against the rules: ;)

Well this is were it rubs me wrong. Yes it's there forum they set the rules, but if we as a group wish this rule to change we as a group could go away for a period until rule changed. See it may not be a democracy but we can change the rule. ;) If Polk didn't like it then they could shut this forum down I doubt it over this rule. Again I feel this is childish on their end.

I know that Im new here and know there are rules, but the edit thing kinda sucks. For instance I just looked at one of my responses and noticed that it was double posted. I have no way to delete it since the 20 minute rule has past. Is there any way to have a mod delete it?

    Thanks,

I simply don't have the time or the energy to "investigate" who was right, who was wrong. Editing out things you regret saying makes my job harder. And trust me, I don't need that.

This way I can see exactly what was said without wading through logs and change histories, and take the correct action that needs to be taken.

Childish? No, more like selfish, on my part. But the best part is, you actually have to think before you post something. Gotta love it! I know it can be frustrating sometimes, especially on "For Sale" threads. I'm looking into a solution for just that section, but thus far, haven't found anything.

Side note: Since the inception of the no-edit rule, there have been a DRAMATIC decrease in number of fights, and reported posts (I should know, I keep a log). And here I thought I was just making my life easier, turns out I've saved a lot of unwanted trash from getting posted on Polk's forum. WIN WIN!

    Enjoy.

Thanks Justin for the explanation of the issue. I can in a way place myself in your shoes and say it SUCKS at times running a board, expressively a board of this size. But for the record who said what to whom and who's crying now seems so little of an issue in the whole scheme of things. I feel keeping Spammers out and the board **** free is a much larger issue in whole.
