    I was at a Christmas party and they had RTi10s and I was extremely impressed with there sound. Unfortunately I had just purchased a new 73" Mitsubishi and a new receiver the Yamaha Rx-V663 so the wife said no to new speakers. I started looking for used and came across a excellent deal for $325 I got 2-RTi70's, 4-FXi50's, 1-CSi40 and a Monster PowerCenter HTS 3600 MKII. Only 2 of the FXi50's are hooked up right now until I move to my den which is going to be a dedicated home theater. I also picked up a PSW-120 from a Polk member, the sound I have now is night and day compared to my Bose.

    You may very well like the Rti70's better than the 10's. The won't have as much bottom end, but they are a generation before the 10's and they changed the tweeter. I can't listen to the 10's for more than a few minutes. Congrats on putting together a nice system!

    I think the Bose, is setup, mostly to be used as a HT setup, not for two channel. My buddy had only the front speakers hooked up. He had not ran the rear wires yet. He wanted to try it, It sounded like the TV speakers just louder. This was the center and two front speakers and module. I would also take one for a bedroom system. Key word take not purchase.(given to me). We will see how my sound test goes, Saturday is the day. If he still wants to do it.

    HOLY CRAP!!! This is the first time I've read your equipment list...

    I think even a home theater novice with Bose speakers twinkling in his eyes will have a hard time saying his system sounds better than yours. However, being your sub retails for more than his whole system, he might use the argument that for what he spent, his system sounds good. And without a comparison of what $2000 of Polk speakers, budget AVR, and HSU or eD sub can do, he'd be right...

    Kudos on an amazing system, though...

    Hey Thanks Kneedragger37. It took time and research to figure out what I wanted but I am happy with it. I am however disappointed that Parasound is discontinueing the C-1 and C-2 controller. Not the amp however. I never told my friend really what I paid total for my gear. Between all the equipment and wires and stuff. I really don't like to tell people. You should have seen the cable guy when he was at my house he did a GREAT job but was really interested in what it cost after he listened to it. It is hard to explain to someone really how much items cost unless they are into good sounding equipment. I really don't even like to get into it. My buddy knows I paid a decent amount for my gear but not the full price. I bought everything new also. You guys know thier are allot of IMPRESSIVE Setups out thier.

    Yeah sometimes it's best to keep those numbers to yourself. Especially if you don't have a security system on your house!!! :eek:

    My wife thinks I'm crazy for buying a $300 AVR and less than $1000 worth of speakers for our living room (though if I bought everything brand new, at retail prices, we'd be talking closer to $2500) -- I can't wait to see the look on her face when she sees the quote for the system I've spec'd for the basement HT room! :eek::eek::eek:

    Good Luck with your next HT setup. I am married also but she was GREAT about me getting what I wanted. Although she really was not happy about the price of the sub. I went looking for an SPL1500. Hippos did not have one but said I should demo the DD10 they had hooked up, it was awsome. Then I asked about a DD12, not in stock, but had a new 10". They said we do have a DD15 but it is more expensive. My wife knew I wanted a 12 inch sub or larger. She talked that sales guy at hippos into a GREAT price, well I thought so , and it came home with us. She said, I said yes to fast,we could have waited. Any how get what you want. I used the excuse for the amp and controller. I told her we spent the money on decent speakers now we need more power to drive them so we don't damage them. Don't know if she believed me of not, but she let me get what I wanted. Oh yea my buddy still wants to do a sound test. But always a BUT. It has to be at normal listening level. I asked him what do you consider normal level and he said you know comfortable not to loud level. He wants to also try War of the worlds. He said his sub and and speakers will really show me what they can do. You know I think this is all just going way far. I might just be busy Saturday or not home.

    Yeah...it sounds like it could turn into an argument or something almost...lol

    The point is...you know that your system is better, everyone here knows that your system is better. Your friend however, knows that his system is better.:p

    He spent all that money on it...and he's obviously happy with it...so let him be. Just remember your ear plugs whenever you go over to his house, so that you don't have to listen to that atrocity.;):p

    Bose=Box Of **** Equipment.

    Here's an interesting read you could show to your friend...you might not want to though. It would stir the pot quite a bit...lol

    It's a pretty long read, but it goes into great detail of why Bose sucks, and why they are so overpriced. It's quite an interesting read if you've got half an hour or so to spare.;)

    Now, I've probably spent an inordinate amount of time on forums talking about speakers, and in this thread in particular, but who on earth has not just the time, but also such a fiery hatred for Bose that they would take the time to write something like that.... boggles my mind, I tell you.

    Oh man , I am not going to show my friend that about Bose. I did print it off for my own read. Talk about DISLIKEING Bose. My friend called and asked to borrow my copy of Mr and Mrs Smith. The scene where they start shooting at each other in the house, now he wants to add that to the list of comparison. That is good for me I used that scene many times to make adjustments on my speaker position and levels. My sub woofer is killer during that scene and the volume is normally at 35-40. Maybe I will have to bump it up just for him. My other friend who works at Advanced auto said he would be interested in our sound comparison, since he bought the Bose also. He told me he has been watching movies allot since he got the Bose and can't imagine anything sounding better. I just told him, you will hear the difference, wait and see. So I guess it is going to happpen. I will let you know how it went if you are all interested.

    Well our sound test is complete. The final verdict, My system sounds much superior and thiers sounds good for what they spent.. We thinkk the bass module may have an issue since we tried War of the worlds, (think it was the ferry scene) and turned it up and the module sounded like a swarm of angry bees inside. So has to contact Bose. Transformers was our first pick, we listened to the begining scene when the helo came and transformed. Not so bad on the Bose again untill we really tried to get some volume. Went to my house played the same scene, they both just sat thier with thier mouths open. They said it sounded and felt like we were right thier. I said I could turn it louder considering the volume was at -20. They again bought up price. I said now do you see you have a decent system for what it is, don't tell people you have the best because it says Bose. I told them when people ask me what I have I just say an entry level setup. If someone is into it we will talk about it. Now here is a question. We were wondering ha s anyone tried five polk speakers hooked to the Bose. We were looking at the RTM,OHM or Atrium series on line. Does anyone have experience with this or tried it.
