I sure hope Penn as I am not a GSP Fan. Penn is at a disadvantage though moving up a weight class to fight. Hope he doesn't come in soft as his frame is really more suited to the lighter weight class imo.

I think Penn is gonna win but St. Pierre is gonna give him a fight. I'll be watching it.

GSP wins, late second round, triangle.
Then a rubber match in 4 months.

Obviously just an uneducated guess, but sure as hell what I want to see happen!

They are both great fighters but If Penn doesn't get him early, it's going to be a GSP win.

I have a lot of respect for Penn, pound for pound one of, if not the best MMA fighter out there. problem is a) he is stepping up in weight class and b) fighting another guy who is on everyone's top 5 best mma fighters pound for pound list.

pulling for Penn, but if forced to bet my life, would take St Pierre.

    yeah right?

some people might be underestimating the skilled tactition that Penn is. note, St Pierre is an awesome fighter as well when he brings the A game but still, he's not going to be stupid enough to underestimate Penn. should be a great fight. combination of stand up, ground, et.al.

GSP. I think he will be too physical for Penn to handle.

I'm not positive, but did BJ have to move up in weight to fight St. Pierre?

Yes, BJ is the lightweight (155 lbs) Title holder and he is moving up to Welterweight (170 lbs) to fight GSP for his title.

Penn - hands down. He has a renewed focus about him and I can't stand GSP, although I probably wouldn't say that to his face.:)

I don't like GSP, but I'd bet on him. He seems to have stepped up a notch,
just like BJ Penn did. In that weight class, the extra size will win out.

Well I refuse to give this a simple "GSP" or "Penn" comment. There's way too much going on here. Let me first say GSP is my favorite fighter in MMA and Penn is probably my 3rd (You have to put Fedor in your top 5 if not top 3 if you know ANYTHING about MMA and not just the UFC). So with that said, I am honestly torn here and will be happy no matter who or what happens.

Now here's the way i see it. Who won the first fight? GSP. Penn CLEARLY whooped up on him in round one but he gassed (as he does a LOT so I don't see why everyone boasts his endurance) for round two and three. GSP definitely stepped it up even after getting his first real banged up round in the UFC. It was the first time he's been REALLY beat and cut with a swollen eye. Regardless, he still came out and kept running through whatever was thrown at him. Let's go back into history a bit. How was GSP when he first fought Hughes? Nervous and kinda got ran through for a loss. Second fight, he came more prepared and ready for war and flat out embarrassed Hughes IMO. Fast forward to this setup. Yeah he won but he will be more prepared and ready making it more of a challenge for Penn that he might not be ready for. But look at Penn with any loss and his second chance, cleans house. If he wins then fights again, it's a total underestimation situation. Since he's coming off a loss and GSP will not have the nerves... this will be one HELL of a good fight. Or could be a complete stalemate. Thankfully neither fighter has the capability of not pushing the envelope for at least the first round and a half.

Way too much being said yes but I've really thought about this. I'm an MMA fan and love the stuff. Now I'm not saying I'm 100% right so I could be way off here but that's how I see and remember it. So here's my thoughts. If it's a first rounder, it'll be Penn. If it makes it past the 2:30 mark in the second, GSP will win by late 4th/5th round if not decision 4-1. I'm done... finally.

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

BJ weighed in at 168 which I figured. He looks pretty soft, but on the plus side he didn't have to cut any weight so he will be nice a fresh tomorrow.
