on another note...last night i was at the cc in exton. They actually had stock piled up in the home theater area. You could actually see what they had in stock-i liked it. Anyway i saw an onk 805 mixed in with a stack of 806's. The 806s were priced at 999 on sale for 899 (10%). No price on the 805. I found the tag on the floor-$476. I said ooh this is about the same price as a refurb model. But i wanted to be sure it wasn't avail cheaper anywhere else. So i slept on it and considered the de store to save tax. Really can't find it new anywhere.

Today i stopped by the store in berwyn, pa/wayne, pa-no stock was out-no salespeople to help. But they did have a couple stationed at the doors to prevent shoplifting.
I called the de store to ask if they had any 805s in stock before i drove down. She said they did not and she checked the stock for the tri-state area and said there were none at all. So i went back to the exton store and to my surprise it was still there in the pile. I said not instock huh?? The box had a little tear in the side and the bottom of the box actually looked like it might have been resealed-restapled even. I asked a sales guy (in a black shirt-not sure if that's diff than a red shirt). He said he couldn't budge on the price, he said open box will be the same price as new.

I decided to just get it anyway. I opened it up in the car and it appears to be new. We'll see. I hate paying tax on stuff like that. I usually go to de since its only 12 miles away. It actually rang up at $463.00 so with tax it is a little more than the refurbs are at onk and ecost, but they are hard to catch in stock, only have a 1 year warranty and you may not actually get a like new unit. At least with this i get a nib unit from an authorized dealer and the full warranty (3 years??). Worst case i sell it right?

It was funny though, when needed the price check and i was approaching the 4 sales guys trying to figure out how to build or disassemble a tv stand, two of them saw the 805 in my cart and i could read thier lips saying "awww an 805-damn must have missed that (or something like that)" i had to chuckle.

    good deal!!

    Bummer.

Yeah, I'm disappointed, I wouldn't have said anything if I knew it was going to be ****. Usually when they start advertising on the radio and stuff for that place it's going to be a big deal. I guess not so much anymore. A friend of mine lives up the street and he said that the shows have been hit or miss for a couple years now. General consumer stuff is a bust but specialized nerd stuff like comic books or ham radio shows and stuff are all that is worth going to but few and far between anymore.

If you want, watch the Valley Forge Convention Center's calendar. They usually have liquidator expos that are the real deal squeezed in there between the other show dates.
