Pretty sure most CCitys that regularly flushed their inventory will be out of these. However, a friend of mine was able to score a brand new 805 in black at Fry's Electronics for $199.90. I was going to fight him for it, but I still have my 705 and it works great.

If you live in the Philadelphia area, just go out to the liquidator warehouse in Oaks over near the movie theater just off of 422. They are having a gigantic sale because they've been sitting on a pile of crap that came out of Tweeter and they are filling up on the Circuit City stuff now.

Apparently CC is emptying stores and some distribution centers through the stores and have already started liquidating warehouse stocks. There's no buyer or anything so it's all going cheap at liquidators.

The sale starts tomorrow, goes all weekend. Get there early it'll get picked clean pretty quick.

I am curious, and not to pass any judgement whatsoever, but what is it about Oink receivers that seem to make polkies go gaga? I thought Denon sounds better att he same price point, with Polk speakers, excluding LSis. Just wondering.

Oinkers are well built and they have stout amplification circuits. Not necessarily under-rated but they tend to have a good deal of headroom. I have a 502 that is one step above the entry level and it performs quite well.

For a mid-market piece of equipment, they are priced well and perform well. I would put them on par with the Denon or Yammie stuff. Choosing between the three comes down to sound preference.

Now when you get in to the top of the line Oinker stuff, you start getting in to some serious gear. Onkyo has the Integra line which is at the bottom end of the high end stuff. The top line Oinkers have Integra guts without all the fancypants Integra gadets, gizmos and technology. You can get some serious HT gear from the Integra line.

I have to agree, I have a Denon 2807 and an Onkyo 805. They're in the same price bracket and the Denon is a nice receiver. But on my Polks which aren't even high end Polks, just an M70 system with appropriate surrounds. The Onkyo is so much 'warmer' and (because it has a more massive El transformer and higher current capabilities than the lighter 2807) puts out better imaging and a more commanding sound field.

Yamahas are OK but too bright. And regardless, you have to admit, that year, nothing could touch the 805 in value. It had almost everything the step up model had for audio but not the Silicon Video chip.

I still can't understand how Onkyo was able to sell the 805 for what they did. And maybe they're rethinking it themselves. Got mine as a reburb for 425 from Onkyo (free shipping). The unit looks like its Brand new, the box is new, nothing about it looks reconditioned. And it's been working perfectly!

    Love those things, yeah!

Where is this place? I was there (in that shopping center with the theater and Target and The Dump)today, but only found a Lumber Liquidator.

Here's my journey today. I decided to leave work early to go check it out on my way home-I figured its only a few miles out of the way....I got stuck for a good 1/2 hour just trying to get out of Conshohocken because of a fatal accident on 76-it was shut down in both directions for several hours. So I took back roads and that was smooth sailing. Got on 422 no problem, but then came to a complete stop-moved along at a speedy 1/4 mph-took about an hour just to get to 23 (what is that like a mile or two?) finally bailed and found some back roads and go there.

Anyway I couldn't find it. I stumbled upon Liquidation Expo somewhere in the back and said to myself 'that must be it'. I saw some parking attendents and asked him what the expo was for he said stereos and stuff. I said OK cool that must be the place.

I paid $9 to get in and left about 10 minutes later. I sat in that traffic for this?? If this is the place you meant or if not and if anybody stumbles upon that place-don't bother-Stay away---I should have asked for my $$ back but didn't want to be bothered. I heard some others leaving in disgust as well talking about false advertising and they didn't have anything like in the ad(s).

There were probably about 40 tables or something setup-it was like a computer show. Different vendors selling thier stuff. Certainly wasn't any liquidation company. They had cheap jewelry, old laptops and PCs, leather jackets, wallets, cheap remote control cars, and even a full table of nothing but incense. The closest thing to Stereos was they had a section of head units and subwoofers for cars-most of it looked pretty cheesy and cheap. It was like some crappy flea market with no common theme.

That would have been it it seems.

I've been there before when they had an actual liquidation sale and picked up some nice stuff. A few ThinkPads and a bunch of hard drives was all I grabbed, spent about $500 for all of it. They had stacks of stuff, lots of recognized brand names. That was back when The Wiz closed down though. They haven't had anything worthwhile since. Before The Wiz closing sales, Silo (remember them?) was the only liquidation sale worth the time and my uncle bought my grandmother a TV at that one.

Glad somebody else went and found out what the huge failure was. I probably would have continued back around the back and gone to Arnold's for a few laps after that disappointment.

On another note...Last night I was at the CC in Exton. They actually had stock piled up in the Home Theater area. You could actually see what they had in stock-I liked it. Anyway I saw an Onk 805 mixed in with a stack of 806's. The 806s were priced at 999 on sale for 899 (10%). No price on the 805. I found the tag on the floor-$476. I said ooh this is about the same price as a refurb model. But I wanted to be sure it wasn't avail cheaper anywhere else. So I slept on it and considered the DE store to save tax. Really can't find it new anywhere.

Today I stopped by the store in Berwyn, PA/Wayne, PA-no stock was out-no salespeople to help. But they did have a couple stationed at the doors to prevent shoplifting.
I called the DE store to ask if they had any 805s in stock before I drove down. She said they did not and she checked the stock for the tri-state area and said there were none at all. SO I went back to the Exton store and to my surprise it was still there in the pile. I said not instock huh?? The box had a little tear in the side and the bottom of the box actually looked like it might have been resealed-restapled even. I asked a sales guy (in a black shirt-not sure if that's diff than a red shirt). He said he couldn't budge on the price, he said Open Box will be the same price as new.

I decided to just get it anyway. I opened it up in the car and it appears to be new. We'll see. I hate paying tax on stuff like that. I usually go to DE since its only 12 miles away. It actually rang up at $463.00 So with tax it is a little more than the refurbs are at Onk and eCost, but they are hard to catch in stock, only have a 1 year warranty and you may not actually get a like new unit. At least with this I get a NIB unit from an authorized dealer and the full warranty (3 years??). Worst case I sell it right?

It was funny though, when needed the price check and I was approaching the 4 sales guys trying to figure out how to build or disassemble a tv stand, two of them saw the 805 in my cart and I could read thier lips saying "awww an 805-damn must have missed that (or something like that)" I had to chuckle.
