Land of the Lost TV series. Yeah I know not a movie, but I bought the First season on DVD to watch while my kid was in the hospital (awhile ago). I used to watch that show ALL THE TIME as a kid. Man talk about a cheesy show today. I just keep laughing at how bad it is.
    ....

Ha awesome, Land of the Lost is coming out as a movie. Yay.

I didn't even know they made a III. Was it worth watching?

Startship Troopers III is a movie dichotomy. It was good, and it sucked. The plot/premise was fine, but the execution was lacking. I spent more on my HT than they did on special effects. They did correct the biggest flaw of the first movie, IMO, by using drop suits in this one. If you are a fan, a prepubiscent boy, or act like one, then it is worth watching.

I might actually be glad the movie is coming out...if it wasnt for Ferrell. He gets tiresome very quickly and just isn't that funny IMO. With him in it I probably won't even waste my time renting it.

I've just seen that there is supposed to be a movie version of CHiPs released in 2009. This, if its done right, has guilty pleasure written all over it.

Unlike Miami Vice (the movie, which I couldn't stand), I sincerely hope that they would keep it set in SoCal in the late 1970s/early 1980s -- no cell phones please. I was between 4 and 10 when the show originally aired (1977 - 1983) but not living in L.A. Now, that I live here I'd love to see them try to recreate all of the scenery and types of thugs/outlaws, future machines, motorcycles, race cars from that period. Hence, the guilty pleasure would be rooted in the nostalgia, if its kept as a period piece.

No need to go over the top the way Dukes of Hazzard and Miami Vice did, IMO. Just catch the spirit of the times.

I used to love that one as a kid. At the CC closeout I just picked up Iron Eagle, Christine and Vision Quest.

I never tire of the 80's movies.

Don't know what it is but everytime these come on the tube, ... I have to watch them

    Dodge-ball
    Stick-it
    27 Dresses
    The Devil Wears Prada

I have a lot more, but they can't be a guilty pleasure if I own them. Movies Like:
Point Break, Hackers, Practical Magic, Election, Shallow Hal .... I watched them so many times I figured I should buy them.
Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid. ..... Frank Zappa

Shall We Dance ? (1997, Japanese version)

We just rented this one again last night -- hadn't seen it in several years. I never saw the (subsquently released) American version but I can't imagine that it would be half as good as the Japanese one. You need the Japanese social context -- overburderened "salary man", shy inexpressive sub-culture, office life -- to make it work.

Check it out. Some parts have you rolling on the floor laughing (esp. Aoki san), but there are other touching moments as well. Funny but also uplifting -- a great combination for any movie. Additionally, it presents a great snapshot in modern urban life in Japan -- just as good as "Lost in Translation" in my book.
