If you want someone to take a quick look at it and give an informed opinion based on that while they're doing an oil change, a diag fee would be inappropriate.

If you take your car into a shop only to have them definitively diagnose where the oil leaks coming from then yes, you'd need to pay for the techs time.

1/8 of a quart between changes, on a high mileage car? Quit worrying about the leak, and just change the oil.

To fix the leak? Replace it with an Emotiva oil filter. Problem solved.
But if you want details on how to do that-you'll have to ask at the Emo forums.
They're nice filters-They even have a little blue light and they self prime too.

    Just to report back...

Changing oil was MUCH easier than you guys made it sound - it was a piece of cake!

The only issue I had was that the oil filter was on WAY too tight, so I had to use a wrench to get it off. Otherwise, it was very very easy!

Never seen an oil change turn into a calculus forumla lol. This is being way over analysed.

Thanks, it was a joke how easy it was to do.

Next time will be even easier because the oil filter is on hand tight now :)

It kind of tightens itself as you drive; just cuz you hand-tightened it doesn't mean you can hand-get it off :)
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

It's a lot easier to do it than explain it.

    Really?

    1. Loosen drain bolt and oil filter
    2. Replace bolt and new filter
    3. Add 4 quarts of oil

    :)

So, let me get this straight: if I change the oil in my car, I need to remove the drain plug in the oil pan first to let the oil out ?

There has to be an easier way that you guys aren't telling me about because you're wanting me to get underneath the car and get my pants dirty.

I was thinking that if I lowered the tire pressure in the front tires to 2 psig, and raised the tire pressure in the rear tires to about 160 psig, the car would tilt forward far enough that the oil should flow out of the oil breather cap.
That should work and would be a lot easier than your stupid guys wacky way of changing oil.
