Yeah, and who needs those new speakers, a different turntable, to try new wires, or a better cd player

I thought there were only projectors that would/could support such high resolutions? I have seen a Sony, which could do that. You will need a *really* huge screen to see the difference between 1080p and the "UHDV" resolution.

Yeah Yeah, I know ... it's just fun to lust after excess :)

Besides, if we can't hear over 20kHz (in general), but tweeters hitting 50k+ add some "tangible benefit to the sound which has no scientific explanation" - maybe higher resolutions does the same :p

And forget about the new preamp, forget about the new Cd player,Why would I even consider buying a 60 inch Pioneer ELite Kuro when I already have a 46 inch Sony 1st Gen HDMI set???who the hell needs NEW HOTNESS when you have old and busted.

    I can't dream of it.

Well...for those of you who have decided not to upgrade anymore, I'll be accepting donations! :D

They're always gonna be coming out with something to best the last technology. A couple years from now Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio are going to be a thing of the past. We're all going to be looking for AVR's with Dolby REALLY True HD and DTS HD Ultra Super Master Audio.

Hell...7.1 is already a thing of the past, and there are barely any movies that support 7.1 formats. It's all about the 9.1 and 11.1 with different "presence" speakers now.

They're always gonna come out with something better. That's the thing that sucks about this hobby...if you want to have the best, you've got to upgrade every year or two.

Currently, few TVs can handle action sports in HD without some smearing or other artifacts. It is one thing to display that much resolution in a still or slow moving frame, but totally another jump in ability when being able to handle a fast moving 50 yard passing play with full stands in the background. Its the video processing speed/power that holds them back, not the screen's pixels.

This is exactly when Plasma outperforms the rest of the competition.
Never see motion lag on my plasma, but I see it on every single LCD I have owned/viewed.

Same could be said of the DLP's. They all have their weaknesses. Plasma=screen door effect, LCD= motion blur, DLP=rainbow effect.

Personally I bought a DLP, because I don't see the rainbows enough to bother me, but I can't stand the motion blur on LCD, or the screen door on plasma.

Buy what you like until something (inevitably) better comes along. UHDV...who has that kind of real estate? Yikes, that's huge!

Give me better greyscale and color reproduction over resolution any day. When they can make a set with better picture quality then a tube, I will start looking...hasn't happened yet.

You will have to wait quite a while to get one of those. Our current infrastructure can not handle that amount of data. It already has a problem with the amount of data needed for regular HD (never mind 1080p). But it's nice to see there is something to look forward to. Soon they will have something with more resolution than our eyes!

It is all good to want something like this but pointless unless it is supported. It would be like owning a f15 fighting falcon with no jet fuel!
