Take the Perk's with beer...you'll forget all about eating! Seriously, hang in there Dave. It'll get better day by day. Maybe the Doc can give you something else for the pain that won't make you sick to your stomach.

Um... You might not want to do that. They put a ****-ton of acetaminophen in all synthetic opiates, basically so that you hit the LD-50 on the acetaminophen before you can get truly high. Acetaminophen & alcohol will totally wreck your liver - especially at the doses that they put in Percocet.

'course it didn't take long for people to figure out that you can easily extract the opiate, but I'll leave that to you and google.

Well Monday morning is the big day. Me ACL surgury is upon me. While I know its routine surgury its still making me a bit nervous. The Dr said its about 60 to 90 minutes to get done and should be home before lunchtime. They are putting in a cadaver ACL in me which is the quikest recovery time. I just hope he doesn't pull a Tom Brady on me and I get an infection. Please send some good thoughts my way. I can use them.

Welcome back and hope you a speedy recovery!! Take it easy dude!

Good luck with the rehab, you might be less nauseous with a Duragesic patch.:)

All narcotics can cause: nausea/vomiting, constipation, itching as the three most common side effects. Not all percocet comes with alot of tylenol...most common given is 5mg of oxycodone with 325mg tylenol....but the oxycodone can vary to 7.5mg or 10mg. Tylenol can be 325mg, 500mg, or 650mg. Just ask your doctor for a different pain pill; just because Percocet makes you sick doesn't mean that others will...you could try ES Vicodin, Vicodin, Tylenol #3, Tylenol #4, Demerol tablets, Dilaudid tablets...etc...it is a matter of trying different ones until you find one that works best on your pain with the least side effects.

It's funny that you mentioned food not tasting good. After my surgery NOTHING tasted good. It took a couple of months before even the things I like the most starting tasting good.

Hopefully getting back into my routine will help. The pain level is not so bad so I am only taking the percs when I fell that I need it.

Therapy was nice and painful today. The therapist really was bending my knee to try to get all the muscles streached out. The good news is that i am down to walking on one crutch and hopefully will be off the crutches by the end of the week.

PT= Physical terrorist. I have done about 2 1/2 years of pt between the different injuries:( Keep moving and it will go along better. Stay stiff and it takes a longer time to recover.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

Exactly. I did the stupid thing of quitting PT because of money/time issues and it took me way longer to recover. Hang in there bro.:)

If you don't do the PT, not only will the surgery take longer to heal but it might not heal right and then you wasted your time and money.

PT is a **** but it's necessary. If your therapist (ever notice therapist is made up of the words the and rapist?) hasn't given you any, ask him/her for some small exercises you can do to help things along outside of therapy. Just keeping things stretched out and flexible can make a world of difference in not only therapy sessions but also in pain management.

I would have loved to be raped by my therapist when I broke my ankle....she was HOT.

Well self mutilation every couple of months in an attempt to garner a Darwin Award is not exactly an injury, but the thought was nice.:p

    Good Luck Dave.

Mine is not hot. She did give me excercises to do at home. I will do what they say and the pain will get better. I knew that I was going to have to go through this.
