Called the dealership this morning to see when they'd get some in. They had 1 in stock...got it after I got off at work! They waited 2 hours after they close so I could pick it up...good guys.

P1010059a.jpg

Only rid it a little while tonite, but wow, it is amazing. It is extremely comfortable and is so easy to ride. Its a 600 and is actually 13 lbs lighter than my old 500. It feels like its about 100 pounds lighter...it handles so well and is so damn smooth. I've only rode my 500, an 01 r6 and and 03 kawi 636, but this bike is so much easier to ride than any of those its ridiculous. I'm going to have to get on my friends 08 r6 so i can compare it to something new.

Cant wait to take it out tomorrow...but I have to keep it under 8k rpms for the first 500 miles :(

Congratulations, glad your enjoying your new bike. Nothing quite like the feeling of a new more powerful bike.

The engine break in period is a great time to get used to the feel of a new bike, before really tearing it up!

Very nice. I'd love one but it's so impractical for me. Going to school in Maine means snow/cold most of the year so I would only be able to use it at home for 3 months in the summer. Just cant justify it yet. Maybe when I'm a little more growed up :)

Bad **** bike bro, Enjoy it, and make sure you gear up when you ride it. See too many "cool" guys in shorts and flops on these super sportbikes. Ride safe, ride one wheel when you can and burn rubber man.

Friends 08 R6 may embarass you though, so dont press ya luck too much. ;)

I doubt it, this bike has 10 more rwhp than the r6. Also, the 08 r6 dry weight is 366. The 08 zx6's dry weight was 368. They dont list dry weight anymore, only curb weight. But the new one is supposed to be 20 pounds lighter than the old one. www.motorcycle.com did a 'shootout' last year between honda, daytona, yamaha, suzuki, and kawasaki. The yamaha got last...the kawi got 2nd to last.

    http://www.motorcycle.com/shoot-outs/2008-supersport-shootout-cbr600rr-vs-daytona-675-vs-zx6r-vs-r6-vs-gsxr600-82371.html

I dont think I'll have much of a problem...he also weighs about 50 pounds more than I do :)

I took it through a couple of twisties today, nothing too much. New tires, new bike, wet roads, and cold weather isnt exactly a great combination for dragging knees. Even still, I cant believe how easy this thing is to flip from side to side. Just cant believe how nimble this thing is and how smooth the engine is. I've been keeping it under 6k for the most part. Taking it up to 8k every once in a while, and up to 10k about twice in the first 60 miles.

Here's some better pics of before I went on my ride today...it was in the low 50s...semi-cold.

Ahh...youre one of those guys that dont wave to sport bikes arent you:p

I dont plan on getting this bike more than a couple inches off the ground over the next few months...my buddy with his 636 will pop it up and ride it like its nothing though...crazy stuff.

And yes, it feels wonderful to get a new bike. I should do this every year!!! just kidding. My future wife would kill me.

That license plate holder is even more hideous then all the rest of the ugly LP holders on all the brands.....first thing I would do after leaving the dealership on a new bike
( Well after wheelying it most of the way home....dont worry about that 8K crap for 500 miles....there is no break in on modern day engines...tolerances and metallurgy are fantastic nowadays and that engine saw redline during its functional dyno run before being crated up. Just dont run it at one throttle position on the freeway for long periods...vary the throttle position a lot...low and high...then change the oil and filter to get any foreign matter from the build out and then ride it like you stole it )
was to get rid of the license holder and remove all of those stupid lawyer mandated stickers .

I used to have to fabricate my new better looking license holders, but nowadays they have kits made already for every bike.

I like the minimal use of blue and a lot of black...your bike looks good in the day too :D

I agree 100%! I need a fender eliminator big time, but I havent looked into it too much because I'm riding it in all my free time! The bad thing about buying a new bike the week it comes out after a complete redesign is that no one offers ANYTHING aftermarket for it...at least that I can find.

-do not believe it...your rings and valves need to seat...vary your speed/ rpm for 1500 mls [35-45-55mph and no lugging but never redline a non-strip machine during break-in]

-break-in iz harder than the build, so to speak

    break-in w/ dino oil, after 1,5 synthetic
