    agreed...

Do not keep the same speed (rpm) for long periods of time
Go through the gears, but no lugging, no stress (high rpms)
I always go to 2 k for break in, but 1-1.5 is normal

change oil after the first 500...change oil and filter @ 1000 to 1200 miles, then oil again @ 2000 miles

You probably already know all of this though

Now I just have to find insurance for it...collision is sooo freakin expensive.

With geico, I can get comprehensive without collision and its only $760, but collision, even with a 1k deductible adds $1500.

Yea, I figured...but I knew where you were going!

Hopefully were slow at work tomorrow and I can call around for insurance. I have progressive now, they have really cheap liability, but theyre more expensive for collision than geico. I've heard state farm is really good though, hopefully they'll give me something reasonable as I would really like collision, at least for the first year. I might bite the bullet and get it for the first year anyway, but thats a lot of damn money that I can be putting towards paying this thing off.

Most of the 600 do more than the 750's from when I rode. Shoot the 1000's only did 150 when I started looking into street bikes, and they were tanks at over 650lbs! I'm 6 foot, and over 200lbs so a 1000 is pretty much needed for me to be comfortable. I quit riding. I am getting too old to be playing:( I am not even 40 yet, and I make grunting noises getting off the couch:D

This one does 115 at the rear wheel and weighs in at 420 lbs. But thats 420 pounds curb weight, meaning ready to go. Up until last year, they were using dry weight...no gas, battery, and other fluids.

I would love to take a newer bike for a ride. Maybe when I go up north again I will bump into a buddy who will let me ride one of theirs;) They are usually hesitant to let me ride them because they know I am going to open them up:) I love to go fast. Real fast. I want to hit 200 someday. I have done 165 on a bike several times, and 175 in a car once. 200 just seems like a fun number. Not many have gone there.

I dig it, its a 600. And depending on how well you ride, if youre good, you can mop someones **** in the curves whose on a 1000. Seen it before, did it many times and experienced it when I was a rookie on a 1k. I suggest putting it through it paces, expect the unexpected and learn that throttle. Once youre ok with that, ride it in 1st til about 5-7k rpm, let off the throttle and then snap that baby again. Standing up is optional.

So I just put 130 miles on the odometer and my bike starts to make a funny noise. I can rev it and let off, and I hear something in it. Like its bouncing around in something, goes faster when I rev it, then when I let off I can still hear it moving. Any ideas?

Maybe I just wasnt supposed to have a bike...lol.

take it in for service, could be valve or something in the motor. I know with the MV valve check is apart of the 1st service, so its very well possible something got lose in the motor(different bike but possible). I would definitely take it in for service though.

Hows the ZX6 treating you bro? I just got off my MV a few moments ago. Man I havent been on in over 3 months due to work. Felt good to get out there and get some. Cruised it at about 125mph on the freeway tonight, just me and the good old pavement. Not many cars around. Awesome ride to say the least. I was shooting for faster speed but its a little windy here so I was catching some of it. Curious as to how youre enjoying the Kawi and its performance?

Yeah, I'm curious what the dealer said about the noise. Hope it wasn't major bad news. Obviously under warranty, but nobody wants to have their brand new bike out of service for any reason.

By the way, I decided to give myself a 'new year's present also. I just bought an '01 SV650S from a distressed seller for what amounts to chump change. It needs a little work, but the bike is solid with only 10k miles and it some nice aftermarket parts (full Yoshi/jet kit/HotBodies undertail/lower fairing/woodcraft rearsets). Its part 'winter project' (the fixing up), and part fun (the riding part).
Here are some pics, not bad for 1400.

Thanks. It looks great except for some rash that's hidden by the stickers on the upper R/L fairings. No cracks and not very deep. A few other minor things to replace like bar ends, shifter toe, battery, but that's about it. I might need to so something with the rear end to make it legal too. It doesn't have any rear flashers nor a proper license plate mount (or plate lights for that matter) right now. Minor stuff really. It runs strong and smooth though. I rode it last Friday when it was only 26F here. It fired right up, ran smooth, and pulled strong without any stumbles. Impressive for carbs.

PS: the neighborhood is actually where I bought it from. Its typical middle class Atlanta suburb. They all look the same. 200-300k houses

I have a buddy who used to work at the local Harley Davidson and now rides and races kawasaki's and he listened to it and said it was nothing...took it to the dealership and they said the same thing...which is what I figured. Its actually gone away now.

I have about 350 miles on it now. Mostly to and from work and then 50 or so miles every sunday. I just got done putting an alarm on it yesterday and that took away all my riding time :( But at least I'm not quite as worried about parking it. I'm thinking about putting lojack on it but I hate that I cant do it myself. Deal breaker for me. I'm thinking about letting them do it and then taking it out and reinstalling it my way unless by some chance they would actually do it like it was their own bike.

As far as performance goes...cant tell you too much. Ive got it up to 15k once (still in 'break in' period...lol) and right around 14k the front tire starts getting pretty damn light. I was in 5th gear when I had it up to 15 (redlines at 16.5) and the speedo read 151. Still got another 1500 rpms and a whole other gear to go. Thats for a track though. I've taken it through a couple twisties but havent got it over too much yet...the tires are just now what I would consider 'broken in' and I'm still getting used to the bike so im still taking my time with it.

It WANTS to get leaned over, thats for sure. I can already tell this summer I'll probably be getting close to scraping the foot pegs. My friends 03 636 isnt anywhere close to as nimble as this thing is.

The only thing I dont like is that there is nothing out there for this bike yet as far as aftermarket is concerned...but as to be expected with a brand new redesigned bike. I got some tank grips in today that are made for the 08 zx-10s...which are pretty close to the same as my 6, we'll see when i try and put em on manana.

All in all, couldnt be more pleased. Cant wait til the break in period is over.

And finally, a terrible camera phone video. I was running probably around 11k (out of 16.5k RPMs), but these pics and the video are of the bike with the noise baffle still in. I took it out yesterday morning and it sounds A LOT better...just deeper overall....VERY pleased.

Love the Ak system, thats always been a fav of mine. Ak or Graves, nice performace based exhaust. My next suggestion was for a fender kit, but you mentioned it. Other than that looks good. Ride it like you stole it, but at the same time be safe. Pitbull stand was a good investment too.
