hey that reminds me of that AirHole guy or whatever his name was, he built a sub out of a cardboard box and drove Brett bonkers with questions and comments, now that was funny.

    That was classic!!!

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

These type threads were once the norm here. All that is missing from this one is BDT and his one line zingers, but I guess he is asleep in Korea.

Everyone got their turn in the bucket, the battles could last a year or ended up in the Hall then we got togethor at PF and did the group hug thing and for those who could not come they got bashed on the thread for being a cheap or lazy.

This one was fertile ground from post one, I need some big Polk speakers that dont work to show off.............waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, we are still not convinced tina is not BullWinkle reinvented.

I'm off work early,, gonna' spin some "Third Stone fron the Sun" on 180 gram vinyl, and headphones. I'll check in later.

    George,

PLEASE let us know how it sounds. That album, and "Third Stone.." specifically, has got to be one of my most favorite musical experiences. That's one salty disc, but if it's done well it's soo worth the money.

    Thanks!

I'm in tears and my stomach hurts from laughing.

This is great stuff that all of us newcomers have missed. Seriously, someone should start a "Hall of Fame" sticky for humorous threads.

I nominate this crazy "build a 1.2" thread we're in now also.

Challenge: read this post and tell me you aren't tearing up and having stomach cramps

The 180 gram jobbie,,sounds very good,,Noel's bass is more pronounced and somewhat tighter than the original version,, then I remembered that I have a "mono" recording on Backtrak records,, WOW,, I think that it is a much better pressing overall. I'd be hard pressed to rank them as my ears are not that great. The newer release is a keeper,, the last CD--version is pretty good as well,, but if you really want a "primo" copy, try an original british pressing if you can find it. Kinda long winded, but yeah,,it's a keeper. All for now--george

I just remembered, this is a 40 year old record,,damn,, from Left to Right,, original US release,, British "bactrack records" mono version, and the newer one,,(double lp)

It's a shame all the original Experience members are now dead :(. Enjoy! For X-mas I got a Hendrix book called "Lost Gold" that unearths (documents) much of his underground recordings. Over the years boxes and boxes of reels have been discovered and this book is an attempt to shed some light.

I have lots and lots of boots and studio stuff that never came out officially. This should be a fun resource to read. Hendrix always..........always had a tape recorder going in the studio and fro impromptu jams. He rarely got rid of anything.

    Enjoy your 180g vinyl. :)

Do you have the Norman, Ok. May 1970 concert? I've read where some people say that version of Machine Gun was among the tops ever. It was the week of Kent State, therefore the 'K' armband.

can either of you point me in the direction to be able to get some good recordings of some of his live stuff? Most of my collection is on vinyl and it's been difficult for me to find many,if any good recordings of his live shows, other than whats been made available to the public.I dabbled in boots for awhile, but without much luck.

George. If I ask nicely can you bring over Mr. Hendrix?
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Jimi Hendrix - Oklahoma, 1970 [no label 1CD] live at University of Oklahoma, Norman, second show, May 8 1970 with Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell. This show took place 4 days after the shootings at Ohio University that inspired Neil Young to write Ohio. Hendrix and band are on fire. GD+ AUD mono. Taped on reel to reel deck.

Not a great recording by any means. I have it here somewhere.

    George,

I'll put something together for you. I am somewhat anal so it may take some time for me to get all the "good" stuff together as I am not as well versed (mostly because of time) as I would be if you were asking for Led Zep stuff.

Hendrix is my second love as far as "re-living" those moments of musical history not far behind the ultimate, ever changing, always pushing forward band called Led Zeppelin. :D

Friend of mine did it on a reel-to-reel in his backpack. Acoustics in that place were boomy and reverb-crazy- just like Hendrix liked it. We were going crazy all over that campus, and then Jimi shows up and just shut all the shenanigans down.

Here's a pic the local paper took 2-3 days earlier, featuring yours truly. I'm the shirtless one behind the facemask of the cop looking to go upside directly on the OU student body president, Bill Moffit. Definitely on the downhill now from my salad days then, as Kip can testify.:D

well, you're missing the point my fellow polkie..& who are you to decide if I should leave something on the market or not... Its americal last time I looked..mrrreow! I like the looks of the 1.2 speaker & I like speakers in general. The polks represent the late 80's for me when I wanted them but had no room etc. + evokes other memories as it sums up a time period for me & memories so having them is a nice reminder. Its the visual...more than the sound that I seek. Also, the fact that it represents better days in audio in my opinion before home theater swallowed up 2 channel audio. You ask why I'd want a pair for my room in general? Again,. they look good & are a reminder of past days. They'd also fill out the corners of my room nicely & are a good conversation piece. ..as my av system & smaller floor standing polks would be in between them. No clue why you find it so baffling that someone isn't obsessed by the sound of them & could do just fine with playing the smaller polks. I've heard the 1.2's.. 4-5 diff. times & it wasn't a religious experience.. I actually liked the sound of my inherited maggies better..

Can someone tell me how to make a Corvette body? I don't want an actual Corvette...and I don't want it to run. I just want to look into my driveway and see a Corvette there.

This would be a similar scenario...I guess I just don't understand why. As you said though, this is America, and you can do whatever you want. So if that's really what you want to do, the best of luck to you. Keep us updated,
