I know all of us in our own right are/or think we are. This is a chance to give a little respect/recognition to those who stand out. So......

Every one that has ever held a karma deserves a mention.

After two move one of the tweeters in my SDAs took a dump, and Doro sent me a new, pretty cool if you ask me.

I wanted a pre amp after I bought MY ADCOM GFA 555 from Ricardo (HTRookie) at the time. SNOW offered to send me a GFP 555 for the price of shipping. Totally cool, Good on you Snow.

SLOCOOCKN was nice enough to offer me a chance to audition a pair of Straightwire Encore 2. And candyliquor35m was cool enough to let me demo a pair of PBJ's. It's nice that our little community has the trust to do this

Lastly I won a Karma for a B&K Pro 10 MC Preamp from Ricardo, and posted that I would have to get an amp so I could be back in the glory of separates.
Thats when SNOW offered to send me an amp. I don't care what anyone says SNOW is TOTALLY FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!!.

I also have to mention Tour2ma, and F1nut for some good advice, and along with them Doro for some good laughs over the past few years.

You guys all rock in my book and will always keep me coming back to club polk.

Thank all of you,
Ted

This is all new to me, but much love to all who have taken time to answer questions from a rookie like me.

I've only been here for a few days now, and already I've learned a lot. Everyone on these boards is really helpful, and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of whiny people and drama like you find on most message boards. I've enjoyed my short stay, and I will definitely be coming around for a while.

Also, thanks to Kris Siegel, for changing my user name for me, when I didn't realize that it got cut off while registering.

I am not sure where to begin so why not at the beginning, my first post.

    New member

I want to introduce myself to all of you. I am a new Club Polk member who just purchased a pair of SDA2b's with interconnect cable. After reading about the SDA's in the forums I decided I could not go wrong spending less than $200. on a pair. I currently have a pair of Monitor 10's with peerless tweeters which I bought around 1980 that were unused for 10 years but in great condition. Here is where I need some help. I have been away from the market for along time, and unsure of what I need/should have to enjoy these speakers and future updates. I am sure I am on the right path and don't want to screw up now. My current receiver is a Denon DRA375RD which is rated at 60 wpc @ 8ohms, .05thd and I was told by Denon that it is a common ground receiver. I also have a Polk PSW 140 Subwoofer. The CD player is a Denon DCM-360.
    OK here we go!
I know I need to upgrade the receiver and need suggestions. I'd like to spend around $400. to $500 on a receiver.
Can I use this receiver for now?
What should I do with the Monitor 10's?
    Is the subwoofer OK?
If using the 10's are an option as rear speakers what center channel will be a good fit?
On a personal note; I work at a golf course here in New Jersey that is owned by Donald Trump which is closed till March so I have some time on my hands. So this is one of the things I am doing in the off season. I have a wife and two children and they currently think I listen to music too loud especially when I get a budweiser buzz on. God only knows what the future holds. Thanks in advance for your advice.
    Drew R. Crawford the NJPOLKER

WOW what a journey it had been. I can't thank everyone individually because I would inevitably leave someone out. Thanks to everyone for being patient with me and all my questions. Other than you guys costing me alot of money I have no complaints! Hopefully I'll be able to help out others the way you guys have helped me.
Now I'll sit back and listen to beautiful sounding music drifting back to the days my father and I would listen to music together. PRICELESS

The people here are some of the best people I've never met. They were totally supportive last summer when my son's mom died. Fireman32 even gave up a Karma he had won to me. I've had some great advice and been told I'm an idiot when I deserved and been given free vinyl (thanks George). These guys (and a few gals) are better than family. They never show up unanounced and leave when I click the little x. And yet they are generous thoughtful and kind (most of the time). Best forum anywhere. Period.

Had to revisit this thread and add Doro again as he does so much here, not just for polk, but also for all of us with the demos, getting the ball rolling for those who are in dire situations(I was one), his genorosity, kindness, and the laughs. I have personally thanked all I could via PMs/e-mails for the help they have given my family just about a year ago when things got hot. I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Jflail2 had offered me an Oppo 970 after our fire last year. But I ended up buying a cheapy Dynex, which stopped playing dvd's (would still play CDs) just after the warranty was up. We had our PS2 to play DVDs on, but it would only play about a 1/3 of our collection. So i made my self fell like a heel and asked if the offer was still good, as of today the Oppo has been on since about 1:00pm and has played divx discs, dvds, cd's and an SACD. I can't believe this thing! Picture quality blows that dynex out of the water. I had a Sony multi-player, before our dryer decided to spit fire, and used it for SACD/CD/DVD. SACD on the sony was on par with CD from the Oppo. As far as SACD goes....that sony couldn't even come close. My wife will no longer let me buy anything with a sony name on it, which she does not have to worry about.

If anyone has a problem with club polk family, they need to sit back and look again. All audio forums are filled with debate and people who tell you what the end all be all is and will stand there ground, but how many of them will help you when you are down, offer to send you something to try or free gear. All of my electronics are from this forum. My kenwood tuner I won from a karma faster100. The B&K pro mc 10 pre from a karma Riccardo had. In the same thread as the B&K snow had said he had an amp he was going to send me, but instead bought a Parasound HCA 1000 that I was showing interest in in another thread. Snow had also sent me an ADCOm gfp 555 pre with a set of interconnects so I could get the ADCOM GFA 555, I bought off of Richardo, off of the crappy technics I had. Jflail2 see up above. My SDAs did not come from here, we got them from my wife's uncle. With out him I would have never found my online family. Total out of pocket cost for me so far is $10.60 at the local dollar store for 5 pairs of monster cable 1 meter interlink 101XLN's. I need RCAs, didn't want to, but at 2bucks a pop I couldn't pass it up.

Almost forgot Conradicles as he has offered me a couple of 0.5 ohm Mills resistors for my SDAs as I pulled the poly-switches out of them. I think I will be taking him up on his offer as night listening is too bright.

Thank you polkies one and all for all you do for each other. You are all great in your own way. Even those of you I don't see eye to eye with, you still give good advise and guidance to our noobs.

Very cool stuff. They are some certainly some very generous people around here, and that's one thing that sticks out to me about Club Polk. Everyone is ready at the drop of a hat to help someone in a tangible way by either sending gear free, nearly free, setting up "Karmas", and Doro leading the charge on getting new Polk products out to demo. I think new comers who have a problem with the forum don't understand how "tight" it is as a community. I was one of them at one point!
