impressive setup! nice, Brett!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Very nice Brett.

Excellent. What do speakers like those cost, anyway??
Glad you're likin' 'em.So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

I actually haven't had them running yet since I just got the room setup this past weekend.......I am also unsure how well that 307 is going to do with virtually zero clearance above it, but in all the stands I had been looking at, unless I went with a glass shelved z frame type of unit, there aren't that many that have enough expandable room for that receiver. I also need to get a few more cables that I had somehow spaced needing.......sad.....in that right corner is the microPro3000 sub, which might not get a whole lot of use considering this is a bedroom and on the other side of my wall is the neighbors bedroom.......we'll see......
In talking with B&K, the unit is designed to vent from the bottom moreso than the top, and the back is open, so we'll see once I turn it on this week sometime.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Looks great Brett, you lucky SOB
I don't see the subwoofer..._________________________________________________

Just think Brett....I offered you $500 for those speakers. That would have been a great downpayment on a Bose system (or a decent camera...ie: Canon). Just think of the room you would have saved.

Brett,
great looking set up. Open the back up man, the B&K gets really hot especially on top. So vent in there or get a nice small fan to move air around it. I like it with the silver face plate. Mine was black.

I would be suprised if you don't have a thermal shutdown problem with that AVR. The heat output from the top, at reference level, for a typical movie is solid. Good luck.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I just got it back from B&K and they added all sorts of heat sinks and I went over with them the venting issues and they said it is designed to vent from the bottom. At a minimum, I will have to get some sort of fan on the back to slowly suck out air.........
I am not going to be watching anything remotely at reference level in this setup.....it IS in my bedroom.....for the most part, what I listen to will be strictly the TV.....occasional 307 play.......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Again, good luck. You may be AOK but I wouldn't run my B&K in that manner. Mine runs hot during and after a movie....which is quite normal but in open air.
Did you get it upgraded to the 317?CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
I asked about it and they recommended against it because upgrading won't give it any HDMI needs.......they upgraded the software and did some reworking on some sink's and other things.......
I'm guessing they're running some upgrade program to whatever their new one is.........who knowscomment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Duh, the HDMI but that makes sense. There is no upgrade program for prior owners in regards to non-HDMI.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

If I were adamant about keeping that AVR in that cabinet, I would have a cabinet shop cut out a pattern of square or circular holes in the top on each side of the TV and some holes in the cabinet bottom beneath the AVR.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country!
-
There ya go or maybe cut a larger hole and put some mesh and perhaps a fan in. But just big enough to still properly support the amp. Not like you'll be seeing the bottom of the cabinet- but it still could be done to look neat and professional.
Oh yeah and relocate the PF60 of course.
**EDIT--And judging by your cabinet in the Sytem Showcase, you already know how to handle the fans and ventilation in a cabinet....____________________

Brett how do you like that calibrated tv. Were you able to get the color up to par?

that looks great Brett.. nice clean lines.. good match with your TV too.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Ultimately, I thought about getting a second cube and stacking them for each component to have their own bay, but this is a temp setup so I didn't want to dump a lot of money into it. I'm leaving the PF60 on the ground.....
With the bedroom vent where it is (left side of unit), i can't move teh 60 to the left and vent the 307 to the ground.....the only thing is to get a fan at the back of the compartment and drag some air out along the back.......
Regarding my showcase pic.....Overall that made sense and worked, but the Tech at B&K indicated that by pulling air over the top of it constantly, I'm trapping the air that's supposed to vent from the bottom. The better method would be to have the fan towards the bottom......which sucks because that's where all the connections are so whatever........The 307 isn't going to get a lot of full out use in this bedroom system......but it looks good......lolcomment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
If you go get some concrete blocks and 1x12"s you can fix the problem in a jiffy You said it was only temporary!DKG999

Brett, 2 questions:
Did you get a chance to listen to DefTech.'s STS towers? If yes, then,...
How would these compare as far as range goes?
I know I'm comparing apples to oranges, but I had a chance to listen to the STS's today and they sounded really sweet- at $3k they should-but I'm trying to find a full range speaker without going broke.
ThanksI refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
I don't even know what STS towers look/sound like........These are the speakers that I won at PolkFest and unfortunately I haven't even had time to fire them up yet. I completely spaced ordering some cables that won't be here until around new years, so whatever.......for now, they look nice, but I haven't listened to a single note through them.........comment comment comment comment. bitchy.
