I'm looking for the shortest possible.
All I really need is 3-4ft...do they make such a thing?
Shortest I see around is 6ft!

I have a small room so my sub is pretty darn close to the reciever.

My understanding is the shorter the better on cables due to signal loss.

Get the 6 and you're fine. Generally people don't put subs that close to the equipment..........

I don't know about distance per se with regard to subs, but I had an 18' once and there were no issues.

If you use a properly built sub cable, especially if it's of coax design, it can run for about 100 feet easy without signal loss. The frequency is only 80hz and down. So not much signal to push. Use the 6 footer, it will be perfectly fine.

I just picked up a 13 foot Monster Cable 850 sub cable complete with a Y adapter for $29 shipped from e-bay. Got it the next day. I have to say that cable is really a monster. It looks like a snake it's so fat. If you want a good deal I suggest checking for the cable on e-bay. I can't imagine a little extra length will cause any loss with this cable, and if you ever decide to move things around a bit you can. Just a thought.

I think you are mistaken - it is $25 for a 2 foot cable and $3 per foot after that. (the $25 pays for cable, ends and construction - the Additional $3 pays for cable and additional tecflex to cover it)

Not that bad a price for a decent quality cable. 4' cable (to allow you to move the sub around a little) would be $31.
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

IIRC, Blue Jeans Cable and Signal use the same Belden wire in construction of their cables.
Signal's is just made a bit more fancier and uses, like Dan pointed out, a Monster type turbine RCA connector.

You have to be careful with that connector. It will rip off the Negitive of your female RCA.

Belden is a custom wire of choice among Professionals. Like Liberty solid construction and design correctly for it's job.

Look at Belkin's stuff on amazon. It's pretty inexpensive and I've used their stuff before and not really had any problems with them.

You can add a little deoxit to the cable ends if you're concerned about breaking anything.

IMO, locking RCA's are the way to go, I wish more brands would offer it. I find BJC's termination too loose on some RCA's and Signal's too tight on others.

I've got a 50' from Monoprice run up and down walls to my HSU sub and it moves the room. Everything I've gotten from Monoprice has been top notch! All the cable/wire I've ran in wall for all my speakers as well as connectors and plates has come from there for about the price of a Monster sub cable. :D
