It's Too Cold for Audio!!!

This morning it was 24 degrees in Hotlanta!

The winter is when the 2-channel system rarely gets played because it's too damn cold to listen to it -- for folks like me. I enjoy sitting down and listening to music. I rarely play music while doing something else, so when it's time to sit down and crank some tunes, I gotta have the heater going and it makes too much freakin' noise. And the tubes are too far away to warm me up. Dammit!

What kind of heat do you have that it's so noisy?

I guess in the south, heat isn't usually a necessity so the systems are not as quiet?
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

You can't have a black background if the background isn't black.

This is the way to listen to music in the winter. I think blue with sheep skin booties sounds the best.

This is what I wear on my feet.

I know, I was gonna say, up here in the Northeast, 24 degrees is a "warm" day in January/February months.

Well, some call it, "Hotlanta" and for good reason. I used to live in NJ many many years ago and hated the cold and snow. I'm stayin' down south, but not too south 'cause then you got hurricanes to worry about.

I notice my heat running the other night when I was listening to some tunes. I'll deal with it. In fact I hear my heat running now.

I would love to sit in front of a fire and listen to tunes but it would probably sound like a really bad vinyl.

A dual mono block setup may make a difference!!! At least buy a radiant space heater.

In all seriousness, I do far more listening in the winter, of course being outside in the Pacific Northwest is far nicer in the summer, low humidity, and just a few bugs.

I rarely listen to music when it is hot out. Too nice to be inside with 21 hours of daylight. Cold weather is the right time IMO.

Man here is what you do,
Preheat the room 1/2 hr before you ware going to listen. Also gives your tube amps time to warm up, make a nice cup of Coffee and your set. 2 channel on the cold allday!!!

I agree with the dual mono idea. Just set-up a low noise fan behind them and listen to music in the warmth!

Brad, this makes no sense. In Atlanta, all through the spring/summer/early fall, the AC is on, making noise probably 50% of the time. What is so different about the winter? Just turn up the central heat, shouldn't make any more noise than the summertime AC.

If you HAVE to have a space heater, then get one of those oil radiator types. They are pretty much silent.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I listen to music late at night. No need to run AC at that time.

The oil radiator idea is a good one.

Let me guess. You didn't get the Plasma for your TV last time you shopped?

It's not too late to shop for 50" Plasma on this Black Friday Sales. It's the best radiant space heater you can buy for the bucks and it's dual functions so you can enjoy watching TV (silent) when listening to 2 Channels.

I'll be getting rid of my whole house heater anyday now.
