I listen to music late at night. No need to run AC at that time.
The oil radiator idea is a good one.
Your lucky...My AC runs pretty much 24/7 in the summer (not constant, but on/off) to keep it at 76-78.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
ah,, here you go,, I believe that Butch's son Derrik, is on guitar also

Man I tell you what... (Wow, thats a redneck line if there ever was one)
When the music is cranking in here, it gets uncomfortably hot after about thirty minutes --- so when winter is here, I like it because my room is toasty and comfortable!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Same here kid.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Get bent:p I used to live in FT Lauderdale, and this cold is killing me. I tacked up some blankets to the windows. None of the windows are double paned, and the walls are 2x4 with no tyvek wrap. They sure know how to build them here in GA:rolleyes:Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

That's the main problem -- cheap single pane windows. Wer can literally feel the cold air blowing in the house from the windows. Sometimes it's colder indoors than it is outside. My wife got a window replacement estimate a few weeks ago -- over $12K:eek:
Nevertheless, I managed to get in an extended listening session tonight.:) The system sounds slightly different during the winter (colder, I'd say). Had to play around with placement.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

When I get back on my feet the windows are the first upgrade this house will see. I may just go storms to save a few. I need to do a little research to see how much of a difference storms make compared to double panes. What are you doing Saturday? Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. I could only hope to see 24 degrees any time soon. So if it makes you feel any better about the cold, here is the current observations at the local airport.
Getting close where that old Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion is mighty easy. -40F = -40C

Thats cold,,how do you start your car,, seriously,,any special anti-freeze,,etc?JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Up here almost all vehicels are equipped with engine block heaters, and may also have battery blankets, and oil and tranny heaters (highly recommended).
Plugging in vehicles at night is a state past time.
Antifreeze is usually run at a 50/50 mix for -40 to -50 protection.
Idling vehicles prior to driving is a necessity.
You haven't experienced life until your car breaks down at 50 below, at night, on a highway in Alaska. I carry a sleeping bag, clothing, and sometype of heat source with me at all times in the winter.
Ah yes, no other place I would rather be.

Double Panes windows can be installed by DIY. You can ask the windows dealers to provide you an estimates and they'll come out to measure your windows to the 1/10th of an inch. It's quite easy to install by two persons (or more if the windows are very big) and you can save about 50% from the installer quote. I did mine a few years ago and glad I did that myself.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin:

My windows have a full track. I wonder if I could replace just the window, and leave the case as is?Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. You mean aluminum full track? I had to cut and scrap all aluminum tracks and remove the debris all the way to the wood frame. It's quite easy to cut the aluminum with a good knife. Just scribe a few times on the same spot and pull apart with pliers piece by piece. An installer guy who was my windows vendor showed me how to do it on one small window and the rest of the windows are monkeys see monkey do kind of things.
You can't leave anything such as old aluminum track or wood tracks underneath the vinyl windows. I went with a brand called Certainteed and their wood frame molding (somerton series I think) looks nice to me. Millgard is another good brand that's very common across HD and Lowes.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -

You know it's cold when the daily weather report always includes "seconds before frostbite" as part of the report ...
