There is nothing fanatical about what you said. If appropriate corrective action is not taken, we'll soon find ourselves in the same situation as Columbia and Mexico. Contrary to popular belief, it can happen here.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
Thank you Raife, we are in agreement, as a LEO I recognized long ago we are not an answer only an expensive partial solution. Sadly, the wheels are already turning, funding already put into place to build more prisons, there is a huge buildup of LEO's occurring today.
So I encourage again everyone here to do something to help whenever you can, but be safe, these are some very nasty people. We need solid programs for youth, there is still a framework in place, we need leaders, helpers, political support to wipe out blight and slums along with those who want to keep them and yes for goodness sake we need parents and parents need skills, otherwise, well, these gang members are headed for a date with a nice man like me, lucky lucky them and more burden for the common man of which I am one, unfortunately before they get to me the lives are damaged forever.

Some of that funding towards new prisons would be better allocated to I.C.E."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

I've noticed the gang members don't come out in the rural areas much. It's kind of a hotel California type scenario ............ they can check in ...... but they never get to leave We used to have a lot of them showing up, but then it became much more efficient to cook up the meth in Mexico, so the large scale meth operations have really died out in farm country. Mainly small time wannabees or desparate addicts now showing up.
We did note that when a friend sprayed about 1200 gallons of liquid animal waste out of the honey-wagon onto a real nice hoopdee that was parked where it had no business being, that they got mad as hornets and left and have never come back.
The gangs are showing up in the schools on the fringe areas of the metro, where development was taking off prior to the recession. Small town schools don't have any clue how to handle the gang issue, nor funding to take any major actions. The schools I am familiar with have one gang prevention officer funded for about 6 counties worth of schools. Not much going to happen at that rate!DKG999

Bob this one gets twisted all the time. It is not the contraceptive that is a sin it is the premarital sex that is a sin. The problem is giving away condoms in places like public schools is saying sex is OK for kids. The problem is bad parenting. Can we change the parents? No. These kids need to be educated to the real facts of gang life at a real young age. What it is like to sit in jail for many years, to be disabled because you were shot... The messages need not be all doom, and gloom. They also need to know if they aspire to do well they can make it out of the ghetto. The sad thing is the gangs are spreading into the suburbs.
Ben, around here, there are plenty of gangs that are not ghetto or suburb related. These are from dysfunctional folks living in the woods, meth labs, trailers, folks that have been passing down dysfunction and hatred for generations. Incest, violence, you name it. These people are monsters.
Their gangs are the skinheads and the KKK. They are armed to the teeth and preparing for violence.
I absolutely agree with you about the bad parents. They shouldn't have kids.
Alot of, or at least some of the kids from these type families sometimes just want to see one adult in their life that is normal, that doesn't condemn them, that will hold out a hand to help them keep from turning into their twisted parents.
That is the real sin, the way they are raised in an atmosphere of abuse and hate. -
I'm dysfunctional
I live in the woods when I'm back at my farm
I'm armed to the teeth!
Would someone like to join my gang? It's pretty lonely being a gang of 1!DKG999

realtrouble TRUE about enron and gangs BUT people who lost to enron said OH WELL life goes on, but when a gang kills someones kid over $5 no one can say like goes on because life has ended for that victim.... STRENGTH in numbers and US as regular hard working americans are out numbered by gangs who THRIVE on strength in numbers... we are WAY out of there league and ON WILL will protect us when the cops are out numbered 1000 to 1....protect yourself and make sure you have a Swiss passport like I do.....

There will be another war within our country but not like the north and south, it will be a war to take back what some think is historically theres... Its not going to be pretty and the winner wont be who you think....

That would be good, except for the fact that, after 'Ramos & Compean', nobody is exactly running to join the border patrol:rolleyes:I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -

Actually shooting first is a much better option....know your surroundings and act/plan accordingly, learn the laws in your area as well as anywhere you will be traveling . In both instances I have had to use a firearm in defense , I was backed by the local law enforcement 100%.The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -

It's tough. My wife is a teacher and we watched her school go from middle class values to poverty. Some of the kids that show up probably hadn't eaten all day. Others believe a run in with LEO's is inevitable. Currently, voters turned down new legislation to increase teacher's pay so my wife isn't getting a raise this year nor any inflation adjustments. Sports and extra curricular budgets got slashed too. Gonna be a tough year. Idle hand's are the devil's workshop.
It's sad. She tries very hard and comes home in tears. It's like every day watching your best friend head off to the jungle in Vietnam while you sit in an A/C office. She puts up the good fight but at some point I'm going to have to airlift her out of there before she gets the 1000 yard stare and that's just the emotional trauma. Safety is the other big consideration. LEO's have been great. They're very protective of teachers.
Thx RT1 -
The SAD truth is that IF you took a string and it went from here to the farthest reaches of the universe and you drew a tiny ink dot on that string, that dot represents OUR existance, meaning that that DOT is life as we have been here, that DOT represents the beginning of earth, dinosours, man, and now where we are now. Within that dot will also be non existance, meaning even earth will be gone once we collide with the andromeda galaxy. In that DOT of time we managed to ( in LESS then 100 years) make the air toxic, poison our waters, contaminate our food supply, reap the earth of its natural resources ( and anyone who EVEN thinks well colonize the moon are mars is forgetting we HAVE no resources left to even build a colony there) we are OUT of room, Out of resources, out of anything that was naturally any decent and that was when the 1800's. with over population and the ability to take with out earning it, Crime will grow and so will the places for honest working class people to protect them selves to hide.
LOOK around. we all want nice amps, speakers, etc etc, we cant take them with us, we can only enjoy them for a moment in time. What was considered impossible 50 years ago is now the norm, what was considered to be the future as thought of in the past has proven there is no utopia, its eat or be eaten. You can loose your life over a $25 gold chain. you can wonder IS my kid being fed poison baby food? we are just a DOT on a piece of string 100 billion miles long..working to preserve for a future that is not a part of the future history of earth has proven that TODAYS time frame may be what dictates just how far we are able to last and for how long..... -

+1, fatchowmein. My wife is also a counselor at an at-risk school, and believe me, they are doing holy work just giving some of those kids a reason to believe and try to make something of their lives when their parents, 'friends', and everyone else are leading them into the gutter.
. Prop up your wife, extra hugs, whatever it takes. The good that teachers do in schools like that, it can't be compensated in terms of $$$. Although it Would be nice! -
Arent some teachers promoting they can carry fire arms to school? and dont many schools now have metal detectors then say crime in schools is down BUT its up on the streets because they cant enter with weopans? Im all for education but when something crazy like that teacher was bet up by a parent for giving their kid a bad grade or the mother who hired a hit man over a teacher who choose another girl to be the head cheerleader.. I know its not everyone BUT it sure seems like it...

obieone: one reason crime is so bad is prisons perole people they know will commint crimes again when released, This is because the state give that warden and prison money for the amount of people they have in jail, IF the prisons properly did rehab and that prison then had no inmates, the jail would close, the warden would be out of a job.. Its in theyre best interest to free those they know will return.

Seattle's gang problem is also growing and our lovely mayor doesn't/won't notice. The latest local story is that a street musician who was at every Seattle sporting and music event was killed last week in a random gang beating as he waited for a bus. It's becoming a problem...
RIP Ed McMichaelWOW the tuba funny hat guy... have had the pleasure of seeing this guy a few times during my short stay in Seattle......and these **** random beatings ARE a problem nationwide.
sorry to dig up an old thread, but wanted to post the joke of an update to this story:

These gangs are incidious and a disease in our society. Very dangerous, organized and armed to the teeth.
However, these gangs don't scare me like the blue collar thugs we have in Washington. These people will create more unrest, help nobody and steal all the money they can for their next book deals.Carl -
Audio Nut has a writing style that is very familiar. The person it brings to mind once used the name Audionutt. Scott? That you?

I hope there is a tremendous amount of public out cry.

What you are witnessing in general,is a cummulation of many policies designed to portray the criminal as the victim, the cop as the bad guy.Government never seems to tackle the problems we face head on,they go in a round about way that doesn't accomplish much.I don't have the answer to gangs, they've been around since Moses, but I do believe we need to concentrate on makeing a society that doesn't foster this type of behavior. How can we do that? Numerous ways....being a good parent for starters, watching what video games your kids are playing, what they are watching on TV,computer, instilling a little faith in their lives, whatever faith you belong or prescribe to,doing things together as a family unit, occupy kids time with activities such as sports or charitable work.Vote for local and federal representatives who share your beliefs, prioritize those beliefs too.Be a good example to your kids and practice what you preach.Sometimes doing the right thing is alot harder than doing the wrong thing.Express love and expectations for your kids.I guess alot of this gang stuff comes down to parenting and how far we,as a society, have gotten away from some basic skills needed to raise kids.My wife always says, you need a license to catch a fish, but they let any butt reamin' A-hole become a parent.Yeah, from a movie, but I don't remember off hand, but holds true none the less. This new america seems too tolerant of everything....anything goes.So you tell me,who's at fault here? This has been happening for along time, only when things get out of control,do we stand up and say WTF.HT SYSTEM-

Oh...
I forgot until I logged onto Club Polk this morning. It's the end of world. Insert shotgun into mouth. Pull trigger. Enjoy sweet release.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
Gangs have been around for a long time. A look at gangs in the U.S.
shows us that places like NYC have had gangs for almost 200 years.
The people involved changed, but the reasons remain the same.
Drugs have just made it more profitable. And better armed."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
One of the main problems facing the country today is that we treat everything with kid gloves on. Everything has to be politically correct as well. It's so bad now kids in schools cannot even touch each other without fear of being suspended. WTF is this country coming to? And we wonder why gangs, drugs and crime are at an all time high.......pretty obvious. People are scared to do anything about it. And for those that do take action their hands are tied in so many ways it's not even funny. By the time you get rid of one problem (legally) three more have taken its place. Maybe if we stopped being such a nation of instant gratification pussies and stopped the stick waving our country would be better off. The "bad guys" don't follow the laws/rules but the "good guys" have to follow the laws/rules. There is the problem. It's a no win situation the majority of the time. If we keep playing by the rules (like the war on drugs that has not and never will work) we are doomed to continue this vicious cycle forever. Just think of all the good we could have done with the billions wasted trying to combat and rid our country of drugs. With the state our nation is in now and considering there are more broken homes now than ever the issue of violence will continue to get worse. Until we have laws that are REAL deterrents nothing will change. Here is an example, A person with an ounce of weed and a little blow gets 10 years or more (just an example folks) and a murderer gets only 5 years. Until we reverse this retarded mentality history is doomed to repeat itself.
