Well the chickens are here. I will post a vid when I can figure out how to edit a quick time video:) They are real friendly, and I don't have to worry about them taking off. They have been here since 2pm, and all of them are hanging out in a 4 foot square area. My 5 yo daughter loves them. She has petted them, and kinda tries to pick them up, but when they flap she get nervous. They are nice, and quiet. I am going to put them up on the deck in a dog house that is up on an old makeshift table to help protect them from critters at night. There are 8 hens, and 2 roosters. Hopefully the roosters behave. I don't want them to fall into that pot I was talking about earlier;)

It might. I kinda want to keep the numbers of the flock up. I would hate to off a couple, and then have a varmit off the rest:mad: Oh yeah I forgot to pick up some 44 shells:(

Your going to shoot varmint with a 44 magnum? What is wrong with you? A .22LR is all you need...... 550 round boxes for $14 at Walmart, I was just there last week.

I have the big one with a scope. It's more of a fun factor. Plus a 44 is less likely to wound:D I guess I'm just a big softy:)
As for what's wrong with me. Should I start from the begining, or Just start with the more serious stuff first:D

But if you kill it with a 22 atleast you could eat it potentially......you hit with a 44 and it's vaporized. :(

    I don't eat cats, or dogs.... I mean varmits:eek:
J/K The yard is fenced in good. I think I pretty much have to worry about hawks, fox, and racoons.

Hey, you could easily eat all of the above....chop it up and put it in a soup....your kids will never know. Anything tastes good with the proper seasoning.

As for eating cat and dog, what do you think you are eating when you get chinese food? It definitely isn't "Beef" Lo Mein or General Gau's "Chicken." It's their version of beef and chicken. :p

Not to mention, a cheap 22 rifle (Like a Ruger 10-22) is much more accurate, so you stand a better chance of hitting it in the first place.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

My Ruger 10-22 is amidst a huge overhaul. Thing is gonna be a tack driver when it's done. I'll be shooting things the size of pennies at 75 yards :)

My 44 is not your typical pistol. I can hit a Pie Plate 8 out of 10 times at 100 yards free standing;) Less than 20 yards bub bye:)
    BTW my 10-22 was stolen:mad:

I throw Nerf footballs at unwanted pests.

Doesn't really hurt them but stuns them enough that they think twice before coming close again. Then again, all I have to deal with are raccoons, squirrels, muskrats, rabbits, moles and the occasional ballsy bird or two.

I gotta find my old Nerf Turbo Screamer with the whistles on it. That's gotta be un-nerving to get hit by this pound of screaming foam hurled at you around 60-70 MPH.

Growing up, we had 12 Barred Rock chickens. Started out with 24 chicks, and 12 was what we ended up with. 1 rooster, the rest hens. Got a good 11 eggs out of them most days. Had so many eggs we didn't know what to do with them. So we started to use them to barter with the locals. Give 'em 2 dozen eggs... get a pie in return. Few dozen to the farmer who mowed our horse pasture, he'd knock some off his price. The barter system still works in the country :)

Don't let anyone see Ya pop a hawk. you will not like the fine, I promise you. Same goes for owls which are an even bigger problem with chickens.
