A bunch of the Fox Sports guys said it. But they are are calling Dallas to be the Super Bowl team.
I have never heard a single sports pundit in the preseason predict that anyone other than Minnesota would be the team to beat in the North this year.
They beat Indy, now all of a sudden the fact they don't have an offense just goes out the window? Okay.... -
I was listening to them before the Dallas game while doing laundry.
I agree, I don't think any of the teams in the NFC North are going to be anything more than also-rans. I think the NFC Super Bowl team will come out of the East division and I think that the West and South divisions have a couple of playoff upsets in the unlikely Cardinals and Falcons. They both looked good and seem to have potential. They have to clean stuff up a bit.
But the Bears lack talent depth. They can improve the offense but it's not going to be a powerhouse. They are going to have to rely on mediocre scoring coupled with great defense to score a couple points and keep the oppnents off the field. Judging by last night, the Vikings have nothing and it's all hype. Green Bay is not going anywhere. They still have a good team but the QB is inexperienced and too many plays that should have been routine looked like desperation moves that they got lucky on.
The other problem is that they were talking about great The Bears were before the Vikings and Green Bay even played.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I'm not a big fan of Green Bay trading away it's best asset for what could amount to nothing, but I'm more than willing to give a highly touted QB a chance to prove the critics wrong. Green Bay was 13-3 last year (weak division, blah, blah, blah - 2 losses came from the lowly Bears and 1 from Dallas). They didn't really lose anyone other than Favre, and yes, that's a big deal. Still, they're the same team a year older. There's no reason they can't win the division with even a 9-7 record in a weak division, however I am not that optimistic.
Aaron Rodgers is better than Wrecks, Orton, Jackson, and Kitna, of that there's no doubt. The only question I have about Rodgers is his ability to stay healthy. I'd like to believe his prior injuries were anomalies, but as Tom Brady has proven anything can happen.
If Fox Sports really things the Bears are the best in the North I can't help but laugh. Vikings (who have been the media favorite in the NFC North) would be my pick if they could have only replaced Jackson. There's no reason Green Bay can't be as good. I'm just not willing to go that far out on a limb after 1 game, and Bears fans shouldn't be doing it either. -
I don't know how any of them could have thought that when The Bears were the only team to have played. It was like they passed judgement before Rodgers even got the chance to play.
And Kitna is a real disappointment. He had such potential when he got to The Lions and he's been nothing but an average QB. Alot of the has to do with a sub-par Lions offense but he has been lack luster in his performance since her got there. His first year was pretty interesting but there were no seriously dominant teams in the NFC that year at all so a crappy team could easily rise to at least average status.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Both GB and Minnesota have room to improve after that first game, and there is no reason why they wouldn't. GB's offense didn't look impressive but I think part of that goes to Minnesota DL dominating the line of scrimmage. Sure, they had a few big plays but most of the part that highly touted DL did its job very well. As for Minnesota, they need to work on their passing game, and get the HB's into the mix more often when passing. And get their special teams play in order as well, that TD return was not the only weak showing from them.
It will be an interesting season, there really isn't a team out there that is an impossible powerhouse to stop for either of these teams. Even NE w/ Brady wouldn't have been. I still predict NE to win around 10 games, and I envisioned them winning 12 w/ Brady, not more. -
As usual the ViQueens blew it............Good to see the Pats win without Brady......

The true test on how good the GB Packers are will be the sunday night game against Dallas.
DEMIURGE The Packers didn't trade Brett , he traded himself with that my way or the highway attitude. I am a Brett Favre fan but every year for the last five or so he waited to the last minute to give his "am I coming back" answer followed by the crying like a f-ing baby because he loves the game so much.
I think Dallas will be the team to beat this year just like the New England was last year.
Only time will tell. -

That's cool, I'm a Packers fan, not a Brett Favre fan.
It's too bad you only looked at the events of the last 7-8 months leading up to the trade rather than what's been going on for the last 10 or so years. Being that he's 38 years old, it's too little too late. The only thing ugly was the departure, but there's no doubt he'll always be a packer.
At this point I am not too worried about it since Rodgers is playing good ball right now, but it's a shame to watch a guy have a his career pissed away due to **** poor team management for over half of it. -
I was very impressed with what I saw from Rodgers on Sunday. I didn't get to see the game, wasn't broadcast in my area but Detroit looked like there was some life there afterall. They lost, bad, but for a while there, they gave the Packers a run for their money. I think Detroit needs a shake-up in not only the coaching staff but the front office. I don't think the problem with that team is the players. They showed that on Sunday. They can play ball.
Did anybody see the Denver/San Diego game? WOW! What a game! I didn't get to see all of it, only most of the second half but that was just an incredible game down to the very end. And to think it all could have been different if it wasn't for one botched whistle on a Cutler fumble. Would have changed everything!
The Vikings, yeah, they were sloppy again but they held Indy to 18 points. The D is there, but they are sloppy. The offense is almost non-existant. For the Vikings being what they are, I think they did well against Indy. Indy has Manning and even though he is misssing 4 major players out of his front line, he still managed to orchestrate a drive that put them over the top and win. He's an incredible QB and he's teh reason the Colts won that. Because as bad as the Vikings played, they still out-played the Colts up until the last scoring drive.
I only got to watch the Giants rout teh Rams but the best part of that contest was watching Howie Long's kid play. He got his first sack and he was pretty impressive through the whole game. I think he has levels on par with his dad and he has the capability to be a shining star. He's just gotta get a better defensive line that doesn't drop assignments or miss coverages. Onee guy on a d-line can make a difference but they can't hold up an entire team. I hope the kid gets somewhere where he can grow. I'd like to see where he goes.
I did get to see a bunch of the Jets/Pats game I don't think Cassel is worth all the gushing the media is ddoing over him. Yeah, he "managed the game" but from what I saw, all he really managed to do was get the ball in the hands of the people who can do stuff with it. The Pats won that game, Cassel was just along for the ride.
Now, the game with all the heart this past Sunday? Saints and Redskinss. It was an ugly win for the skins but I think that the 'Skins, which were young an inexperienced last year, are showing some maturity. The Saints still have something in them and hopefully, they can make a run for a playoff berth near the end of the season. But honestly, with the way the Vikings and Bears played, I think we saw the NFC Wild Card game in Landover, MD on Sunday.
If Washington can at least keep up the performance they had on Sunday if not better it, I think the NFC East will earn the title The NFC bEast this year and that is gonna be the division to watch. Dallas is ranked tops, Philly is 3rd or 5th dependding on who you talk to, the Giants are the defending champs and honestly playing as well as they did last year and thee Redskins have the gumption to win against any team on any Sunday even if they aren't a 12-4 team.
This is an exciting year already!
I can't wait for tonights game! Yeah, The 'boys are probably the best team in football by the statistics right now but Philly is capable of winning this game. This is gonna go either way and provided the **** Philly fans can keep their fat mouths shut, it should be an enjoyable game to watch. I think it's gonna be one of those memorable MNF games!Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Not a good week for the Bears, but since as Demi says, we were so lowly last year yet still beat the Packers twice, we will likely kick the packer out of the cheese factory this year.
see you at the game Demi.
RT1--Go Orton, yikes........... -
As usual the ViQueens blew it............Good to see the Pats win without Brady......
Yeah, they did. Colts got a lot of help from the officials but Vikings have nobody else to blame than themselves for not being able to get a single TD. They should have put the game away in the first half based on how badly they were dominating Colts.
I was as well happy to see Putzies win, my friend keeps whining how their season is over and keeps overrating Brady like most of the people out there. It was going to be about a 12-4 team with Brady, now with Cassel it will still be a 10-6 team. -
Glad my Colts won, was a great game. They got a little help from the officials, but not enough to hand them the game. There were calls or no calls that went the other way as well, so it's kind of a wash.
Great game if you're a Colts fan, but you're right they shouldn't have even had the chance to win. The Colts were down 9-0 at the half and I remember thinking to myself at that time "They should be down 21 to nothing the way they played, being down only 9 they're going to end up coming back and winning this game"
The Colts are a very under-rated 'come from behind' team. They've done it numerous times, yesterday wasn't even a memorable win compared to some others. I remember them doing it against the SB champs Tampa Bay a few years back, which is a win that really turned them around. Then they did it to the patriots the year they won the SB, and even did it in the SB win over Chicago (I remember Chicago running back that opening kickoff for a TD and how poorly they played starting off the game, and then coming back to win it). -

The couple critical no-calls for pass interference were pretty bad, but what really hurt the Vikings was the Colts first TD that never went to the end zone. Would they had tried it on 4th down and get it, who knows but that really hurt. Good for me, I have Addai on my FF team, although I didn't need him to score that.
Good week for me at Fantasy Football:
QB Aaron Rodgers
RB Joseph Addai
RB Clinton Portis
RB/WR Darren McFadden
WR Chad Johnson
WR Calvin Johnson
TE Jeremy Shockey
LB Patrick Willis
CB Antrel Rolle
D/ST Giants D/ST
K Stephen Gostkowski

Hmmm I think you should be happy being 1-1. Seriously when you first saw the schedule you had to of thought that going 0-2 is a very real possibility going into the third week of the season right?
Look they failed miserably in the second half, BUT Orton to me looks great, and I think he will only get better. -
may I Pleeeease have a shot of whatever your taking.......
Go Bears. Go Orton, Go Urlacher and especially Go Forte.
Go Cubs Go Sox

Actually, you should have lost that in regulation...Nedney hadnt missed inside of of 50 yards since 2006...it should have never gone into OT.The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club
