Pfffahhahaa, I'd love to see how you'd "girl it up" when a 320-lb defensive lineman plowed into your knee, tough guy.

It's still cause for concern. There have been guys who tear a knee ligament turning a corner in open field. I hope you're right and all, but.... not exactly a loss that the team can take.

Cowboys ran away with that one.

The Eagles ran away with theirs too. They looked a bit sloppy though.

What the hell happened to the Rams though?

Seriously, Chicago should be winning by 30....

Dallas looked good, and they're going to look good all season....again. We'll just have to wait and see if they're gonna choke again in the playoffs.

That's the Bears D at full strength. I was a bit nervous after watching the preseason games, but they came out tonight and played very well. Hell... the offense even looked good.

Weird side note: Chicago has ruined several team's grand openings. I can't remember specifics right now, (pain killers) but I'll try to find that stat.

The Falcons looked a lot better than I expected. If nothing else, they might have a decent running game this year. Of course, the Lions are hardly a match. When will that pathetic franchise pull itself out of the dumps?

(BTW, I'm originally from Detroit area, so I have the right to dis the Lions)

The Falcons looked freakin' awesome!!!! I know people don't put much stock in the preseason, but there were so many promising signs. And now... simply WOW!! Take a bow Turner for an all-time franchise record.

So I was reading that Brady's who leg injury thing is a hyperextension. That could be a season ender. It happened to Testaverde way back in the late 90's and he was never the same again.

Oddly enough though, If Brady is on the bench for the rest of the season, Cassel can't fill his shoes, he can barely walk in his own. If I was the Pats talent guy, I'd be on the phone to Tampa with Testaverde working out a deal to play at least half the games. Testaverde would fit well with the Pats offense and he's used to taking the hard lumps.

Also, I heard alot of talk on Sunday about Super Bowl picks like they do every year. AFC was the Pats as usual 'cause they haven't lost a whole lot of talent in the offseason. The Cowboys are the major pick for the NFC and even though Philly showed some chops on Sunday, I think Dallas' D is too big for everyone else. They stopped the most potent offense in the AFC for only 205 total yards on Sunday and made it look easy. But you know what? Even if Brady stays and is healthy again in a couple of weeks, I think the next AFC champ very likely could be the Steelers. They looked awesome in the highlights I got to see and they put up some impressive numbers. I think there are only two teams that can give them trouble right now. The Jags have an impressive offense provided the OL can give the coverage needed. They do that and the Jags are a scoring powerhouse. The other team is the Chargers but they looked sloppy on Sunday and if they don't get that act together, they are gonna have another yearly honor of being the team that another team has to play two weeks before the Super Bowl.

I dunno, watch the Steelers. I think they are going somewhere this year. Especially if thier O-line starts clicking. That'd be an awesome matchup though. Steeler and Cowboys in the Super Bowl? It'd be a slobber-knocker for sure!

Lots of "credible" speculation that Brady tore his ACL and is done for the year, despite what Doctor BaggedLancer said above ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats called Testaverde; he knows their system at least a bit having been the third string QB for them in '06.

a lot of times it doesn't LOOK that bad...it happened to me..didnt look bad to others, but I could FEEL something tearing inside and I couldnt walk after without the knee giving way

Do you think Daunte Culpepper would come out of retirement if the Patriots came calling?? I bet he would!

Anyone got a spare wide receiver?? my Seahawks could sure use one! I might go try out. Probably make the team if I can hold onto the ball lol.

He's the asshat who "retired" because he wasn't getting enough attention. What a big baby. If he had spent the last few years conducting himself as an adult instead of a spoiled child he'd be on a team right now. But no, he refused to even consider being a backup, and chose retirement instead. Good riddance.

I've never been a big fan of the Patriots or Brady, but having said that, his injury is sad news. I've heard a few comments along the lines of "Well good that's what they deserve" and people happy to see hime go down - those people are morons and don't even deserve to be responded to...

It's odd that the first week they DON"T list him on injured list, he goes down...

There's lots of talk about whether this is good or bad for the NFL, here's my view personally.

Anytime that arguably the best or most impactful player in a given sport goes down it's bad for the sport, especially in a case like this where that person at least appears to be a decent guy. If Mike Tyson gets injured who cares because the guy's an ****, but Brady seems to be a decent enough guy and someone you want to root for. So is it bad for the sport, I'd say yes, at least in one respect. However, I'll also offer an alternative opinion...there are a couple of potential positives...

1 - It makes the rest of the conference a little more interesting. With Brady out it gives the other guys more of a fighting chance. I mean, seriously, before Brady went down, did anyone really think that anyone other than the Patriots would represent the AFC in the Super Bowl? And if he's out for the season, does anyone really think they'll be in the SB - they're certainly not a lock at least. So from that perspective, it makes the other teams more interesting because they're not just playing for a spot in the AFC championship game at this point.
2 - I think it could change how the team is perceived. The Patriots are perceived as this big machine with all these interchangeable parts that basically moves from town to town devouring any opposing force. This almost adds a 'human' element to the team, it illustrates that they are vulnerable. It's human nature, we root for the underdog and the guy who's hurt or has to overcome an obstacle. If Brady is out for the rest of the season, you can bet I'll be rooting for him next year when he comes back. It's the same thing that happened in the US Open when all the non Tiger fans started rooting for him when his injury became apparent.

You always hate to see a competitor go down, but when it does happen they're easier to root for. It's sad when you think about it, but that's the way it is...

The bears looked good last night. Indy looked terrible, poor preparation, poor executionm, even bad calls by dungy at times. Its too early to start talking about playoffs, but I've never seen them start this bad

Oh, no doubt about it. I just think that he still has several years left in his career. He has a talent for reading plays and adapting on the field. That is a tremendous asset to any team and his guidance as a verterna QB to a younger QB would ensure a very long career as a coach.

I mean look at Jason Garrett. Dude was backup to Aikman how many years and even then, after that, to each consecutive QB. Then he went to Giants and then the Bucs. Each team he was on, he was an integral part of the offensive coordination plan and spent time calling plays with the OC. He then started his coaching career in '05 with Miami as the QB coach. Now he IS the OC on the Cowboys and he's looking at being the replacement for Wade Phillips next year if he can't get it done or he's being entertained by several different teams as a head coach. He's a perfect example of taking an average QB career and a pile of talent and turning it into a life-long career worth way more than a simple 10-15 year QB career. Plus he is the heir apparent to an enviable position in footbal, head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, he's Jerry Jones' golden child and Jones is paying him over $3mil a year to be the OC. Yeah, Garrett is a fine example of what you can do with a football career.

All Culpepper wants to do is cry like a **** and go be a talking head on TV. He's the same age as me(31) and he is in great physical condition. He has at least 5 good years of playing left in him but I guess he can't deal with gettin' old.

He may have fully healed from his injury and be in great shape, but what head coaches and offensive coordinators can't deal with is him fumbling the ball all the time....thats the real underlying problem.
