I need to get a black light and do some critter hunting. It would be fun to jar them up. A scorpion tank would be pretty cool.

I think it may be a Wolf spider.

Venom toxicity - the bite of the Wolf Spider is poisonous but not lethal. Although non-aggressive, they bite freely if provoked and should be considered dangerous to humans. The bite may be very painful. First aid and medical attention should be sought as soon as possible, particularly as to children or the elderly.
Spider Identification - an adult is 1/2 inch to more than 1 inch in body length - mottled gray to brown in color, with a distinct Union Jack impression on its back. The female carries it's young on its back.
Habitat - this spider is a ground dweller, with a burrow retreat. It has a roving nocturnal lifestyle to hunt their prey and can move very rapidly when disturbed. Commonly found around the home, in garden areas with a silk lined burrow, sometimes with a lid or covered by leaf litter or grass woven with silk as a little fence around the rim of the burrow.
    Again WTF!

    Wolf Spider VS Scorpian.
I'd rather have the Scorps over Wolf Spiders!

They eat bugs, not humanoids. I think they're really going overboard with that bite toxicity stuff.

So I woke up the other night on 12/30 and my leg itched like crazy. My thigh, and forearm had small puncture wounds but really didn't hurt much. It's been a few days and the wound on my arm has gotten steadily more painful and larger. The wound on the thigh is much improved. I went on WebMd and the wound on my arm looks exactly like the early pictures of a Brown Recluse bite. It looks like picture 7 on this website and my neck is stiff as all heck.

The site says that the worse wounds are from necrosis which either will or will not occur within 96 hours of the bite. That means tomorrow night I should know the outlook. Anyway I am going to the Doctor in a couple of hours so if any of you can put me in your prayers tonight. This little arm wound is quite painful.

Gods speed HB. I hope to f*(k that it's not a brown recluse bite. I see those things on my porch, and they are VERY resilient bastahds. I sat there w/ a hose and straight streamed this HUGE spider, and he would NOT let go of the wall. I finally just wacked it off with nozzle. I commenced to doing the "Shiver Dance"!

Necrosis begins about 96 hours, then worsens. See my post about arrowroot powder, go to a healthfood store manana ASAP, and do it! Change the dressing 2-3 times a day. This works, I'm serious as a heart attack about it. You will start feeling relief within a day.

Then report back in a few days when it's totally cleared up so the rest of these guys know it's golden.

Yes definitely a Stars fan! The Doctor put me on some 800 mg horse pills of antibiotics and is having me use very hot compresses on the wound sites. The hot compresses allow the blood to flow to the tissue he said. Anyway, it works pretty good because my arm totally feels better after the compresses. The Doc said it is more likely a Desert Recluse that bit which is a lesser but still dangerous relative. He said if I keep the compresses likely no major tissue damage- but should take a couple of weeks to significantly heal. Thanks for the prayers, I am hoping these antibiotics help out and John I'm going to go for that powder in the morning.

Brown recluses don't normally hang out on decks.....hence the name. They like to hide in CLOSETS of all places. In your **** sleeves and shoes. They aren't very big, either. The scars from their bites look like gunshot wounds. My mother and my wife have both been bitten by them, mom on top of her left foot, wife on the inside of her elbow.

    I HATES ME SOME SPIDERS!!!!

Has anyone seen "Sound of Thunder"? Not a very good movie, per se, but a good storyline. They go back in time to do these "Safari-like" trips, but with dinosaurs. Well, long story short...by changing something(killing a funky pre-historic butterfly) in the past, they throw off the whole evolutionary track. As far as I'm concerned, they could back back in time and kill the very first spider and nip them right in the bud. Wouldn't really care what happens to evolution.:D:cool:

I was shaving this morning and saw something ugly-familiar (besides my own face) in the mirror behind and above my head. They come down through the duct vent covers in our house. This one crawled out and recently died.

Died by natural causes most likely eh John? Well the horse pills and hot compresses are definitely helping a lot. The arm wound has been reduced by about a 3 inch circle around the injection point and my hand doesn't hurt at all although the arm still hurts pretty good.

These crappy couple of pics dont do the misery justice. I wish I would have took some before I went to the Doctor. I took these just now which is 5 days after the bite and a couple of days on the meds, along with hot compresses which have helped dramatically. I kept a heating pad on all three bites last night which made another noticeable improvement. Originally the two leg bites were so swollen they looked fused as one. In particular the arm bite didn't come out because thats the most painful but I might try again later today.

Moral of this story is don't get bit man.

OK I am not a big fan of snakes, but I usually leave them alone. This one was over 5 feet long and much fatter than the pic shows. I did some research online where they ask all kinds of questions, and it came up as a cotton mouth. Nice a 5 foot+ cotton mouth where my daughter and I go to get eggs. In the laying house.

Not a cottonmouth Ben, that is a Black Rat snake....they grow to 6 or 7 feet and get really fat, but they are non-venomous.

The cottonmouth is a pit viper ( Would easily see a large hole between the nostril and eye ) and has a much more triangulated head . Also, in your second pic you would have seen the sheaths covering the fangs ( Which are very large in most pit vipers, but cottonmouths and copperheads have relatively small fangs for pit vipers but still have very large sheaths that are easily recognizable ) .

Well I had the snake up front because the X was stopping by to pick up the wee one. As soon as the school bus started to take off a cop came up the road. I waved him over and he said it was a cotton mouth. The head is much more triangular than the pics show. I should have gotten a pic of it with me holding it. We opened its mouth and he showed me where the poision glands were, but I did not notice a hole between the eyes and nose.
