You give any consideration to figuring out what's killing your scorpions? You could have something going on in that house bud.

I ended up with some scorpion movement in my yard a few years ago after the hole was dug for my pool. I've never had the pleasure of being stung by one, but others that I have talked to said that it varies quite a bit. The consensus is that the smaller scorpions have a much more painful sting, and each subsequent time you are stung is significantly more painful.

I have a black light and used to look for scorpions at night (they glow when a black light is shined on them). If you decide to do some scorpion hunting this way, get a fairly large glass jar and kitchen/bbq tongs. You can turn it into a fun contest with the neighbors, but it's only a good time if you put some money on the scorpion count.

if I remember correctly they glow when under a black light. I would get one and look for them when the lights are out then crush them.

Last year while doing some HT / Cat5 wiring in attic I was bitten by a Brown Recluses spider. It was very painful at first then a very large red spot, then nothing just a little red spot day one.... Next day large red spot back, but now hot to touch and felt like leather  Called a buddy at work and told me it must likely a spider bit and go see a doctor NOW :(, I did that day and was told yes its a "Brown Recluses" bit and would loss a piece of skin, then have a scare. Given a prescription and today nothing I didn't loss a chuck of skin and I don't have a scare. So I can say those very gross pictures of that very small innocent looking spider but very poisonous are people who let it go letting the poison do it's damage. But all spiders I see today are dead spiders in my book. ;)

Ben Raid for the house, boric acid powder along outside of house, well that's my thinking but may ask where you buy the acid to verify. Just my $.02 I'm no pest guy.

I used to live in Arizona and we had tons of scorpions all the time. Just make sure to check your shoes, and if you have a common entry point some rock salt will keep them out. They breathe through their abdomens and won't cross over salt.

Does anyone know of anti-venom kits I can get to keep in my svc. van? I got Recluses @ the house, and Black Widows @ work.(for some strange reason they're attracted to steel structures like storage facilities and packaged HVAC units)
Something that'll cover me for both.

That kid in the video was young and strong-looking. Elderly people can die from the bite of these horrid spiders.
My wife had a dream and learned the cure for Brown Recluse bites. She's something of a shaman. It is arrowroot powder, which is available in healthfood stores, and cheap. White powder, derived from the South American arrowroot.
It draws the venom out, and that is absolutely gospel. Their venom kills nerve tissue.
Make a small poultice out of a bandaid, wet the powder, slap on the bite- repeat a few times. My entire family have been bitten numerous times.
These spiders infest the attic of our house, which was built next to a field. We fumigated once, when we moved in, but they came back.

I told a friend of mine about this a good 20+ years ago, 3 months after he'd been bitten on the ankle, and the flesh was rotting. He was a tough, tough guy from the streets of East L.A., and in a world of crying pain. I thought it was way late in the necrosis process, but it was still worth a try.
A day after he put it on, his skin was scabbing over and flesh was healing.

There is no anti-venom treatment, although some hospitals use a type of electric shock to neutralize the protein in the venom.

For scorpions, either a cat or borax powder poured wherever you think they'll traverse. Or a house-chicken or duck or goose, except they're very hard to potty train. :D

It depends on how badly the person wants to get rid of scorpions.;) Seriously, I couldn't either, but I think a good cat would TCB. They'll at least find the thing first to play with until the hyumin can stomp on it.

Otoh, I knew a girl in college who kept a pet duck in the dorms. But that was the '70's of peace, love, duck, and ymmv.

I know my wife would not tolerate knowing there were scorps in our house. If she saw just one, that would be enough to have a new pest guy the next day.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

I was visiting my great-aunt in her home, in my grandfather's old village up in the mountains on Crete. I took a framed picture off the wall to look at it. There were three scorpions on the back of the picture. I put it back and pulled my chair out into the middle of the room. Talk about being all ears? All eyes baby, in the middle of the room until I got back out to the car.

Get a Tokay Gecko.....they are extremely territorial ( Wont leave the house....need the warmth anyways ) ....can smell and track prey....and will eat anything they can overpower ( Which includes mice and rats as well )

My cousins TG ate scorpions on a regular basis in Yuma AZ....the crunching was intense :)

Only thing is they are NOT good pets to handle....you would have to tell your daughters NOT to try and pet the pretty lizard. They are like miniscule little pit bulls...which IS what you want for scorpions...not for fingers :)

Of course you cant let it run all over the house ALL the time....it needs more insects and water then just that....but my cousin would let it loose for a day or 2....then always catch it again sunning itself on the window ( Their feet let them climb/walk on glass...walls...etc ) . A glove would be recommended for beginners ;)

    Ben,

Scorpions are photophobic, they don't like sunlight (Odd when you consider they live in deserts). My neighbors on both sides have them and I don't. I think it's because I don't have anything near my exterior walls that provides cover for them. One neighbor has a woodpile against the house and they both keep trash cans, plant pots and pavers next to ther walls. Good thing about scorpions, they eat spiders like the Brown Recluse that are a lot more dangerous.

Or, you can get yourself a pet oposum. They eat scorpions.

We had these at my buddy's house in FLA. Really neat, but the noise they make I would rather have my little friends.

That is true...put and ad in craigslist and rent one ;)

Just tell the wife/kids to check their shoes before putting them on and you should be fine until a long term fix is found.
