I like the new song. It's a bit in the style of Load and Re-Load, but that's a lot better than the last album. In all it is catchy without being wimpy. It has a high quality download on I-Tunes as well.

    The new Metallica song sucks.

When your favorite band gets sober and gets the rest of their **** together it's great for them and their families, but bad for the music they make.

Face it, liquor fueled Alcoholica. They were one of my favorite bands.

I'm pretty sure that is a Freudian slip ben. You need a fresh piece. This song is supposedly the mellowest of the album, so don't give up yet if you are looking for more thrash Demiurge.

I have no doubt they can play heavy, but that doesn't mean they're going to cure the terrible lyrics they've had since the Black Album. They don't have the anger in them anymore and that's fine. They dealt with most of their issues and are now family men. It seems like they're just driven to hang around and try to prove they haven't gone soft.

I watched that Metallica documentary in absolute horror and embarrassment. Watching Dave Mustaine hash it out with Lars in therapy over getting booted out of the band back in the day made me want to vomit. (If you haven't seen this, watch it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53VRr-w7mac )

Deal with that **** out of the public eye for God's sake, and stop trying to make metal. I'm not knocking them for dealing with their issues. It's funny, Dave Mustaine made really good music with Megadeth for so long because of how pissed off he was for nearly 20 years.

...Besides, Lars' kit still sounds like a Parkinson's patient banging on trash cans.

I dont own a Metallica cd that came after the black album & never will. I dont really like hetfields voice now, it lacks the anger that it did on Justice & before. If you want to see two very different bands watch the seatle show from '89 off the Live **** dvd & then watch a same song done within the past few years in concert, its very different. They should bring back the instrumental though for this cd, Call of the Ktulu Orion & To live is to die are all awesome.

Don't be hatin'! If you have listened to the song at least three times you know the old Metallica is back baby. Time to get stoked for Kirk Hammett unleashed and the return of the solo.

Maybe Lars will upgrade his drum mics so it does not sound like he is banging on a set of tin drums. GD was St. Anger one of the most ear fatiguing CD's I ever heard.

And Bob Rock bragged that it only took him 15 minutes to get that drum sound.........[/PUKE]

Okay I heard the new Metallica song today on the way to my sons golf tourny. It's called "The Day that Never Comes". I will like to personally call this song "The Song that should have never been made."

What a horrible piece of crap this was. In fact Lars has not learned how to properly tune a drum kit. Are these guys that tone deaf? And don't even get me started on his drumming, which was an amateur effort at best.

And honestly I am glad Jason Newsted left, or kicked out of the band....whatever it was. James and Lars did him a favor of not being a part of what Metallica is today. And I think Kirk is just a puppet for them. It's James and Lars' band and what they say goes. Well now it is obvious what the product is when you do not have band members that want to try something different.

Metallica had a type of music that drew people to them, whether you liked it or not was another story. Metallica was good, solid, pissed off music that would get you amped up. I don't care too much for that type of music myself anymore, but I will always have fond memories, especially of the concerts.

The issues they all had are what fueled the music, now they're trying to write the same music without the honesty behind it, and frankly it's sucked since 1991.

As I said, good for them for dealing with their issues. It's too bad they chose to do it in public and it's too bad that it's affected their music in a negative way.

The problem with all of the bands you mention is they didn't hang it up before it got pathetic. None of them have made great music for a long time. People go to see them to hear the songs of old, that's it.

I would have to differ on that one. Aerosmith in particular came fresh out of rehab and made their most popular album to day "Pump". Pump was highly successful staying on the charts for more than four years, earning 4 Grammy awards and 7 more nominations during that period. Hey, maybe I should sober up too :D

Read the comments on youtube, to funny. I guess it's just not me that has my negative opinions about the band.

Gotta admit though it sounds better then the day that never comes. But I am sure Lars sounds like crap, so how could you enjoy the new one any ways.

There is a ton of free material to see on the making of this album at this website, which you have to join to see (free of charge). It proves that the album will rock it also proves that the claims that Lars is a jerk, and the drum kit sounds like crap are all true...

    http:www.missionmetallica.com

Also check out the new song now available on iTunes "My Apocalypse" which I think sounds a bit like Fight fire with fire combined with load/St. Anger.
