Crossover melt down

Anyone have their crossovers melt on Lsi15. Mine decided to go on strike on me today.:( This is the second time it has happened. Is there a hot rod version I could purchase? I do like to listen to my music a tad bit loud. The Lsi15's seem to handle it with no distortion but the crossovers don't like it. I just hate the thought of replacing them.

Hello Jerry and welcome to Club Polk. What kind of amplification are you powering them with?

It's a slow night here, ya know.

Ok, what's the power rating and how loud is loud? In other words, where on the volume dial is loud?

The power output is 500 watts per channel. The preamp was reading -23 i think. The bryston I was using was only 125 watts per channel. It happened on that one as well

Yeah, I looked it up, 500wpc @ 4 ohms. -23, eh? I'm not good with those damn digital volume levels. Would you say that -23 is more or less than halfway?

You're more than likely clipping the amp at that level. Try to keep it below halfway.

White and square.......could be a resistor.

Flat means no gain with the treble or bass controls, if you have those.

Flat Signal=0 for tone and 0 for bass.

Jerry, it's kinda like a car. Just because the pedal goes to the floor doesn't mean you can peg it there all the time. Everything has limits, ya know!?!

I take it you had Polk repair them before. If so, I'm sure they'll do it again.

There's a 2 ohm in the tweeter circuit, 1 2 ohm for each mid woofer(2), and 1 3.5 ohm for the woofer.

I see your point. So did I just waste allot of money on amplifiers? And yes they did fix them for me before. It makes me sad to see the poor things in this shape.

No, with a receiver you could have taken out a driver, if not the receiver also.

No, you just have to learn the limits and how to run your gear. No tone gain.
