Speaker wire question.

Ok guys Here it goes. Right now I'm using (I KNOW) Monster Cable 12ga speaker wire that I tinned then ends running under the floors of my house to go from floor plate to floor plate. I noticed that my floor plates can use coax type cable ends. would it be better to use like RG6u instead of the monster that I have now. (I only have monster cables because I bought all off them for penny's on the dollar, I've never paid retail for any of them) I have used RG6 before on some installs that I have done for family members subs but never thought about using it for all the mains.

Thanks for all your help!

    RG6 is not speaker cable.

How do you like your 7.2 configuration? I've been toying with this idea as my pre-amp/av receiver is set up for this if I wanted. Currently I'm using it with a 5.2 config.... and it's SHWEET!!!

I'm just curious how much of a difference the 2 extra surrounds make? Could you please give me you .02?

    Thanks,

I know RG-6 is not speaker wire, but on the recommendation of someone else I also used RG6 for running my sub (505) when finishing my basement. The drywall is not up, so should I replace it now (and with what) or will I be ok?

    THanks for your help.

    skevill,
RG-6 is fine for what you're using it for.

If it is a low-level connection (RCA) to your sub, your fine. I wouldn't use RG6 for speaker cable--will it work? Yeah, but it's too small of gauge and not ideal for speaker connections.

Thanks for the replies. Makes me feel better. I used the RG6 for the sub with RCA connections and in-wall speaker wire for everything else.

    Thanks Again.
