This is what makes this forum so good. I do not have much to offer but I have clothing that I can donate to him.

I'm thinking maybe I should have reworded that. :D

Ok, I tried reaching William by phone thinking his phone number may have been forwarded. Apparently, that hasn't happened yet. I'll keep trying.

Count me for some cash also. Probably audio is not at the top of his list right now (though nothing wrong with donating audio related items).

All, I spoke with Williams cousin this morning and he has provided contact information. As mentioned by others, I think the best way to do this would be to send aid directly to William. He and his daughter truly did lose everything. His cousin says that locals have already donated a good bit of clothes and they seem to be ok in that regard at the moment. I would suggest anyone interested in sending a check, a gift card or just a card, send it directly to William. If you want to send material goods, it might be a good idea to contact William and see what he needs. Remember, he is currently staying at his cousins house. I have no idea if he wants boxes of plates and frying pans flying through the door until he and his daughter are settled in a new home. So, anyway, if you would like to send William a card, a check or maybe a gift card [Sears, Target, Home Depot and Pier One Imports are all major stores in our area], please send them to the following address:

    WILLIAM WALDECKER
    C/O MEL SANDUSKY
    507 PLEASANT VIEW AVE.
    PASADENA, MARYLAND 21122

E-mails to William can be sent to:
    dorothy_sandusky@comcast.net

Financial Aid may be sent to the following PayPal address:
    williamwaldecker3@msn.com

This information has also been posted for Williams friends over at Audio Circle. Details concerning the stereo system for William should be coming shortly. In the words of that great humanitarian, Packman Jones, "MAKE IT RAIN!! :)

I'm about 15 minutes from the Glen Burnie area.

Doro, contact me if I can be of any assistance since i'm so close. I really want to help William out. I met him once when we attended a concert at Rams Head in Annapolis about 2 years back. Very cool guy!

Let's get a fellow Polkie back on his feet everyone! Little things add up quickly!

I don't think it's a good idea to post in the internet this addy....and letting the world know that the mailbox will be full of gift cards in the next few days.
I don't have an alternative, but I think that there are other ways to do this, via email or PM to all those that are interested.

With gas prices the way they are, pre-paid gas cards might be a good idea too. William is probably going to be doing a ton of driving between work, his home site and his cousin's house. Insurance will likely cover the lion's share of the household items including clothes. So gift cards to department stores are the best idea I think. Also, keep in mind that Sears and K-mart are one in the same now and I do believe that Sears gift cards work at most K-mart locations now too so you can kill two birds with one stone there. Might have to verify that to be sure though.

According to the other thread, he didn't have any insurance.

DOH! Didn't see those posts. Last time I checked it was mid-afternoon yesterday. That's a drag. Still department stores are the best bet I think.

Well, you may be right about sending directly to William. Maybe Mark at Polk would be willing to accept them? I'll put a hold on over at Audio Circle as well.

Umm...William can get a P.O. Box at the post office and stuff can be sent there. If anybody 'eff's with it there, they go to Federal-pound-me-in-the-butt-Prison for tampering with the U.S. Mail. It also keeps one person from getting bombarded with mail and saves their mail carrier's back.

I think this is a great idea. Allows easy donations in any amount, plus Bunky won't have to deal with the hassle of hundreds of individual gift cards. Is there a way we could find out his paypal info, assuming he has an account?

Good on the gift cards or Paypal. I'm guessing the last thing on William's mind right now is replacing a freakin' stereo system. Let's not waste resources.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

The only issue I'm concerned with Paypal is their fees. I hate the thought of not having every penny donated to William NOT getting to William.

I'll email Doro tonight to see whats on his mind.

Setting up a P.O. Box at the local post office might be an idea. Checks and Gift Cards could be sent there without fear of giving out a personal home address.

I am local as well. If anything can be done from my end, please let me know. In the meantime, whenever we can decide on what to donate and how to go about it, my wife and I are willing to help out (financially or otherwise) for anything that they need.
