William Waldecker - Polkie - Aid/ Relief Information

All, I spoke with Williams cousin this morning and he has provided contact information. As mentioned by others, I think the best way to do this would be to send aid directly to William. He and his daughter truly did lose everything. His cousin says that locals have already donated a good bit of clothes and they seem to be ok in that regard at the moment. I would suggest anyone interested in sending a check, a gift card or just a card, send it directly to William. If you want to send material goods, it might be a good idea to contact William and see what he needs. Remember, he is currently staying at his cousins house. I have no idea if he wants boxes of plates and frying pans flying through the door until he and his daughter are settled in a new home. So, anyway, if you would like to send William a card, a check or maybe a gift card [Sears, Target, Home Depot and Pier One Imports are all major stores in our area], please send them to the following address:

WILLIAM WALDECKER
C/O MEL SANDUSKY
507 PLEASANT VIEW AVE.
PASADENA, MARYLAND 21122

E-mails to William can be sent to:
dorothy_sandusky@comcast.net

Financial Aid may be sent to the following PayPal address:
williamwaldecker3@msn.com

Browsing audiocircle today and noticed this post in their Odyssey circle.

From the posts I've read here and there, I'm fairly certain that Bunky over there and W Waldecker here are one in the same. It sounds like he could use everyone's good thoughts and prayers.

Wow. I hope they're not one and the same. If they are, I'm so sorry to hear of his loss. Best wishes.

Wow, that SUCKS. I hope he is doing alright--hopefully it's not William.

I sent him an email asking him to confirm and wishing him well, I think we should throw our support behind William as a FORUM. If this is true, it is devastating news.

He called me on the phone once and seemed to be a pretty right guy. I sure hope it's not him. I'll get a candle in for him by tomorrow.

Sorry, found the area where he lives in his signature. I don't work too far from where he lives. I'll do some searching.
    No excuses!

I'm 99% positive that it's him. This truly is horrible news. I remember him going out of his way to help me with some Odyssey issues. Prayers have most definitely been sent.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

"I just found out member Bunky had his house burn to the ground this past weekend. I am posting this here because I know Bunky is a huge Odyssey fan and tends to hang out mostly on this board. I work with his cousin who just informed me of this. Bunky and family are ok but lost everything, including his stereo"

According to the thread on Audiocircle, he's a renter and had no insurance. He and his daughter are living with his cousin for the time being. Klaus from Odyssey has offered to organize/accept donations for audio gear and software, don't know if there are any arrangements made for donations addressing more immediate needs.

THAT is some bad, bad news! Man, I couldn't imagine what he is going through right now. William, when you have a chance to read this, PM me and give me a list of what you need. If I can't get it myself, I'll do what needs to be done to help you out. If you are near Charlotte, you are more than welcome to use my RTi10's until you get back on your feet. I might be able to get a pre for you as well.

If the forum would like to start collecting donations for him, do we have somewhere/somebody to send them too?

Hi. William and Bunky are one and the same. I used to work with Bunky and in fact, I created a monster of an Audiophile. I was sitting at my desk on day and I could FEEL someone standing behind me. I turned around and there was Bunky. He looks at me and says "someone said you like stereos". Well, yeah, I do. He had an old Yamaha receiver and wanted new speakers for it and asked me what he should look for. I took him to Audio Video Solutions in Laural Maryland where he left with a new pair of Paradigm Monitor 11's. I didn't realize it at the time but I had created a monster! Long story short, he moved way beyond those Paradigm's in short order. I don't have any more information as to what happened at the moment other than what his cousin, Mel, told me this morning. He was living in a rented house and it burned to the ground. He did not have renters insurance. I will speak with Mel tomorrow when I get back to work and see if Bunky currently has internet access and how people can contact him. I do know that nobody was harmed in the fire. Once I have contact information, I will post it here and at Audio Circle.
    Thanks,
    Merle

This is terrible news. William has been to our house several times and is a very interesting, standup guy. I'm glad to hear that he and his daughter were not injured. We'll be glad to help with anything that's needed.

If anyone wants to ship things, you can ship them to me. That being said, let's find out some particulars first before you start sending me baby clothes for William to wear.

Start sorting CD's, recording music and flipping thru albums now as I'm sure he could use all of that stuff.

My grandparents live close to that area and have great community resources. I'll give them a jingle tonight and see if their church would like to have a gathering of supplies and/or donations. Depending on how old his daughter is, my sister has about 4 boxes of girl's clothing waiting for me.
