    Is it just me or is the HD on the Sci Fi channel crappy?

    Your objection is noted, you can go back to salivating over your dorky but completely void of substance "sci-fi" now while grown ups watch intelligent shows.


    The HD on SciFi is kinda crappy, but I kinda wondered if they were making it grainy for effect in some shots, because in other shots it seemed not nearly as bad (still not great, but there were some times that just seemed horrific). After all the tricks they pulled with cinematography last week I tend to wonder.

    Very good episode tonight. I just have one question...if Boomer is a Cylon why is she still with the humans and how did they allow that? I missed that part of the story.

    That's Athena(Helo's wife)...not Boomer(Adama assassin). Boomer has fully accepted her Cylon role and has even, it seems, deserted her other identicals to stay with the Cavills to battle the human loving Cylons.

    She was the one that was on post-war Caprica with Helo at the same time that Boomer was on Galactica. She fell in love with Helo and got inpregnated with his baby. She has fully rejected her inner Cylon and has been "mostly" accepted by the humans. Adama trusts her enough to put her back into uniform, even after her look-alike, Boomer,took a shot at him.

    Haha, all of them. The Boomer / Athena storyline took a long time to flesh out (and still confuses me sometimes too).

    Hopefully I remember this correctly - Boomer was on Galactica almost the whole time. She's the one who took a shot at Adama, and then was shot by Cally, ressurected back with the Cylons and a few weeks ago sided against her model to side with the Cavills.

    Athena was on Caprica with Helo, and eventually jumped back to Galactica with him. She was in prison on Galactica for the longest time, until they needed her help.... I think talking to a Cylon ship. After she helped them they kind of realized she was truly on the side of the humans and more or less let her back into the group.

    Last night the others of her model seemed impressed and almost envious of her ability to truly abandon her Cylon nature to be with the humans. I think we're to assume she was able to do it because she loved Helo.

    Someone can correct me, but I'm pretty sure she was just "spying" on Helo at the time, pulling the double agent stuff for the Cylons. Helo didn't know she was a Cylon, so she was "helping him out". Eventually she fell in love with him and that's how her defection from the Cylons all started.

    I thought last week with all the nonsense with that lawyer guy and his dead cat was pretty terrible, but this week's was one of the best yet.

    The visuals during the attack on the hub were jaw-dropping on so many levels.

    And the scene at the end with Roslin and Adama was awesome.

    Such an amazing show.

    So, is the next episode supposed to be the series finale?
    Will they find survivors of Earth's nuclear holocaust?

    That was the mid-season finale. There is a hiatus, and then in early '09 will be a string of 10 more episodes which will be the series finale. There's plenty more to tell, though I'll be curious how they accomplish it.

    This show has always had a pretty bleak and negative outlook on the future, it wouldn't surprise me if they ended on a similar note to tonight's, or even if everyone in the series dies.

    As mentioned by my favorite TV Critic, Alan Sepinwall, at th every least they still have the following to explain :

    * The identity of the final Cylon
    * The origin and nature of the entire Final Five
    * The origin of the rest of the skinjobs
    * The fate of the 13th colony, and what role (if any) they played in the destruction of Earth
    * The identity of the person/persons/entities that have been orchestrating all this, and what it means that "All of this has happened before and all of it will happen again"
    * The opera house vision and the fate of Hera
    * What exactly happened to Kara when she went into the maelstrom, and what she's really the harbinger of
    * Roslin's health
    * The true nature of Head Six, Head Baltar, Head Leoben, and all the other "angels"
    * Tigh and Caprica Six's baby
    * The whereabouts of Boomer and whether any of the 1, 4, or 5 models are still out there

    I definitely think time travel will be involved in the finale; possibly having to do with Kara, going back in time to Earth when she "died" in the last season finale, having the Cylons follow her there, causing the nuclear destruction of Earth in the future/present.

    Completely off-the-cuff guess there, I don't know anything that anyone else doesn't.

    From the Chicago Tribune :
    Report: "Battlestar Galactica" series finale will be 3 hours long
    According to Maureen Ryan, "The last-ever episode of 'Battlestar' will run three hours, which means that final part of Season 4 will be 11 hours long," instead of 10 hours. The Sci Fi Channel, however, wouldn't confirm the report to its own newswire, saying only that the finale "extends beyond the time allotted for the episode."
